I visited here for the first time and I must say, I’ve been missing out! The pancakes are amazing and great and fast service. I highly recommend stopping in and checking them out! I’ll definitely be back.

Where do I even begin? Maybe 25 yrs ago when my parents first brought me here to eat breakfast! I love coming here and bringing my family. The place pretty much looks the same! We always come for breakfast. I love the pancakes, hashbrowns and pretty much anything else I’ve tried there. Now is the time to go to get the ever so popular and tasty sweet potato pancakes! Yummy! Only for a limited time so go after thanksgiving and before Christmas to taste! Now you should expect to wait on the weekends, but usually the line moves pretty fast. The manager is always walking around and talking to people, smiling constantly. Def a great family restaurant for breakfast!

I love this place. The food is good, southern and enjoyable. I love the atmosphere and the way it feels like home cooking. The staff are really friendly and deserve good tips. If you’re a person that is chain oriented I would break away from that and check this place out(if you like southern food).

Old-fashioned, early-bird special kind of place. Your parents and grandparents have been coming here for years. The décor hasn’t changed and that’s ok. Familiar. Comfortable. Friendly. Breakfast is served all day which is always, always a plus. They have seasonal specialties like the Pumpkin Waffle and the Sweet Potato Pancakes. Standard fare for a diner-type restaurant… sandwiches, breakfast food, home-style meals. It’s not going to blow your socks off, so don’t go in with that expectation. Eat in peace and enjoy it for what it is… you not cooking and having the money to go out to dinner.

Tex & Shirley’s some what of a staple in Greensboro. Really wanted pancakes, they delivered. I gave it three stars because it is not anything super amazing or wonderful, just typical average diner food. My husband got a hamburger with chili and a fried egg on top. He wasn’t all that happy with it. With all the syrup in the restaurant I feel that each table and booth has a slight sticky film everywhere. The waitress was sweet and friendly but the check out person was unpleasant and obviously not happy to be working. If you want just typical run of the mill diner food, that’s what you will get!

Gotta love a good pancake place. It’s s bit older and it shows but that doesn’t change how yummy the breakfast is. I’ve had the blueberry pancakes and the banana pancakes. Both were cooked perfectly, and just enough fresh fruit in the batter. The fresh squeezed OJ was a nice addition too. The staff is super friendly so I’ll be back.

Pretty good place with cheap price points. I had dinner there the other night and got a burger that was served on a English muffin and a side of fries. it was great with melted cheese all over it. The server brought out everything we needed and was very attentive. The décor is not much to look at could use some updating.

Went here Sunday morning and this place was hoping busy. Had the pecan waffles, bacon, today and coffee. It was fantastic. The coffee was the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this place!

This place looks old. And I can easily identify the smoking/no-smoking division from days past. Add a few dart boards and this place could pass for an Elk’s Lodge. But the food was okay, and the waitstaff is nice. I wouldn’t come here for anything other than breakfast(but that might just be me); and breakfast is served all day. I failed to follow the obvious hint that I was supposed to order pancakes(they have about 250 different kinds of pancakes on the menu), and I instead opted for eggs benedict. Yeah, don’t do that. I had pancake envy watching the rest of my party devour their pancake selections.

Breakfast with my babe before work. The quality of food is excellent. Pancakes are the best around. Our first time here and we will definitely be returning. Staff is very friendly. Home style cooking at its best.

I’m not normally a fan of pancakes. Yea, I know. Whenever someone in the house announces they’re making pancakes I will usually decline eating them because I would really just rather eat something else. The pancakes here I would eat every day of my life if I could, they are THAT good. They are just the perfect texture and flavor, so moist, absolutely incredible. After going here, all we could talk about were these pancakes for a full 24 hours! They lose 1 star because the strawberry waffle I ordered was topped with cold strawberries straight from the freezer… not cool, guys. But the pancakes tho. You can walk out of here having spent less than $ 8 and have a nice full meal~

This is our go to weekend brunch. We love the service and the people. They could not be more genuinely nice or friendly or entertaining. The pancakes are the signature dish but you really won’t go wrong with anything on the menu. For us it’s purely breakfast. Had a burger once and it was serviceable. You may have to park a bit away and walk. Also you will wait on line on Sunday as church is letting out-there’ll be a long, but well-managed line and lots of people in their Sunday best. You can eat a little or a lot of food and definitely not break the bank. We sat, catching up with an old friend and his new wife for 3 hours. They came and freshened our coffee and water and they did not ask us to leave(it was from 1 – 4) as we knew the waitress and manager. You can’t go wrong for brunch with this Greensboro institution.

Stopped by for dinner and have to say it was nothing to shout about. The food was decent but certainly seemed like it wasn’t the best of quality. I think of I do go back it will have to be for breakfast since that’s what it seems they are good for.

Tex & Shirley’s is a convenient place to get a quick bite just about any time. Their waffles(especially with strawberries) are always really good. They have good burgers & grilled cheese sandwiches too. I love that they’re in the middle of Friendly Center and you can stop in during a break from shopping.

I had chicken and waffles here, which by the way were very tasty! We went in on a busy Sunday morning. Service was fast and efficient. Will def swing back by this place again.

This is a good breakfast place. I don’t expect a whole lot for breakfast and they do a good job of cooking the basic bacon, sausage, and ham. I always get the breakfast combo where you can get all of the meats I just mentioned plus pancakes, eggs, and hashbrowns I believed it’s under $ 8 for all of that which is not a bad deal. If you want to come here on the weekends make sure you come early because there will be a long wait.

Tex & Shirley’s is a traditional pancake/breakfast restaurant offering very good breakfast food at reasonable prices. A good variety of pancakes as well as breakfast plates. Their omlettes are the fluffiest you’ll find anywhere. The secret? A little pancake batter mixed in the eggs. Yum! Tex & Shirley’s also features hamburgers and dinner entrees. There’s something for everyone. Great for families and groups. Just a side note: my first job was washing dishes and busing tables at T&S. They’ve been around a long time!

Nice tradition for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Met some friends there today and had a wonderful Ham and Cheese omelet with grits. They have the best omelets in Greensboro! Loved that the owner stopped by our table to check on things. He’s a really nice guy. They have a collection of antique bowls and pitchers on display… I like that. Also a display of local artists in the foyer… way cool.

«Family Restaurant» suggests a focus on congeniality over food, and at Tex & Shirley’s, the suggestion is all too apt. Though the all-day breakfast is a nice touch, the non-breakfast options leave a lot to be desired in terms of quality and variety. A fried oyster sandwich was merely so-so, and the accompanying fries looked like they came out of a bag. On the plus side, everything on the menu runs reasonable-to-cheap. A sandwich, fries, and a drink can be had for under $ 7. The Friendly Center location has a wooden interior with lots of space and little liveliness. On average, the crowd here leans toward geriatric — this is the kind of place you frequent if you want to take your grandmother to breakfast. Servers are polite, but not overly swift, even when the place isn’t packed(and at lunch, it isn’t likely to be). Tex & Shirley’s seems like a perfectly passable option if your culinary wants are simple and you don’t feel like spending much money. If you’re looking for a good meal, however, your better served elsewhere.
