Sometimes can be a little slow, but I can never get over those little shoestring fries! It’s really hard to beat a $ 4 meal! The garlic burger is really good!

Riddle-What takes 12 minutes to prepare and angers the drive thru customers behind you? Answer: A large Dr. Pepper and an Oreo Mint Shake. I am unsure why I return to this restaurant because every time I do, it is very slow service.

I was there for over and hour waiting for our food and finally left. It’s 9:30 at night and there isn’t many people here. I’ve watched 2 families leave before us because they couldn’t even get drinks ordered. This is crazy.

This review was inspired by my last trip to Streak ‘n Shake but it is pretty much representative of my previous visits to this location. You walk in to the«Wait to be seated» sign. They aren’t kidding when they say«wait.» Sometimes it can take a minute or two for somebody to acknowledge your presence and seat you. This past visit we ordered two burgers and corn dog nuggets for the little one(kids eat free on weekends). After a lengthy wait(which is never fun with kids), our food arrived. My wife’s burger came in right at room temperature; my burger was slightly warmer; the corn dog tots were straight out of the fryer hot. I chose not to say anything to the waitress due to not having time to wait for our food to be cooked again. With that in mind, the food tasted OK. My biggest, biggest, biggest pet peeve about this place is what you have to go through to pay your bill. You get the check from your waitress and pay at the register at the front of the store. There is NEVER anyone waiting there to assist you. Think of Crackerbarrel, then think of the exact opposite. So you sit there twiddling your thumbs while the cooks make burgers in front of you and ignore you because customer service isn’t in their job description. More often than not, someone will finally see you, yell to someone else, who will then come help you. It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. The one bright spot: The shakes are pretty darn tasty and during happy hour(weekdays 2pm-5pm) they are half off. I think I’ve finally seen the light and this will be my last time going to this Steak & Shake. Try it at your own peril.

Don’t go here! Drive the extra 5 miles and go to the other Greensboro location. 1st off me and my family weren’t greeted, stood by the sign that said wait here to be seated for at least 5 minutes. Mind you the place was almost empty. Then they took us to a dirty table and instead of him cleaning it off he took us to another table. 60% of the tables were dirty with dishes and all. After sitting for about 10 – 15 minutes AGAIN unhelped this young boy looked up while he was cleaning off a table and asked if we had be helped yet. No! We haven’t been helped! The food was not made the same as other locations. Burgers that normally come with lettuce tomatoes pickles and onions were plain. Let me just go to the end of our dinner. We went up to pay. The girl at the register finished up with the people in front of us then closed her register and walked away. Leaving us to stand there another 5 – 10 minutes. 2 men that were running the front never paid us any mind until I waved my receipt in the air and yelled«ISTHISONTHEHOUSEORWOULDANYONELIKETOTAKEMYMONEY? «Then one of the men came. This experience makes me not want to go back to Any of their locations, but I’ve had amazing service at other locations. DON’T GOHERE! Everyone in there needs to learn the definition of customer service. If you don’t want to work, then why are you there?

If there is a worse«fast» food restaurant in the entire universe, I pity any fool that goes there. Service is very slow, attitudes are hostile and rude. How in the world does thius crappy place stay in business?

The food is great which is why this review is so unfortunate. The cajun burger with the skinny fries are absolutely fantastic… once you actually get them. We spent 10 minutes just waiting to get seated, despite the fact we were one of around 4 groups actually in the restaurant, and after we finally were seated it took another 20 minutes for anyone to even come and get our drink orders. They then forgot to give us utensils to eat with, and the drinks took another 15 – 20 minutes. After we finally ordered, it took a solid 30 – 45 minutes to get the food. This place is an absolute hassle and it wasn’t even busy. Customer service, attention to detail, friendliness, timeliness, and knowledge of the menu all get a big fat F. Never eating at this location ever again.

I’ve came here many times and the service was just okay, but yesterday will probably be the last time I ever go. I was waited on by someone I had never seen in there before named something like sanya, and she was such a poor waitress. She doesn’t understand the concept of customer service which doesn’t work in her favor considering she works for tips… Everytime we asked about something she basically just said we were wrong. We had a to-go order after we had finished eating, the woman in the kitchen handed it to some young guy and he just starts eating OUR food. Once I brought it to someone’s attention, they just basically shrugged it off, made our order again, and made us pay for it after we had waited an extra 10 minutes and someone else got our meal for free. We also never received an apology for their mistake. I won’t be back again.

This is place is so frustrating to me as it LITERALLY has EVERYTHING going for it: a prime location on Lawndale with no other burger spots near it; a 24-hour location, which there are few of in Greensboro; fresh ground beef that’s slapped into shape on the grill(and when fried properly, has a well-done interior and a lace of crispness around its circumference); absolutely delicious milkshakes; a shake ‘Happy Hour’ two times a day when shakes are reduced to half price; skinny, crunchy shoe-string style fries; and several hotdog and hamburger/fry combinations for 3.99. When the burgers, shakes and fries are cooked, prepared and delivered correctly and with care – I think this restaurant performs in a huge way. Which is why – after many miss-steps on their part with poorly done or poorly timed food, and customer service that has bordered on customer mistreatment, I still like their food and hope for good things here. Today was my first visit in a year because of the issues listed above. There was a line at the drive-thru that wasn’t moving. Check, that’s normal –people sit there without being helped or wait far too long to receive their order. I took my turn at the speaker after waiting five minutes – no welcome. I said ‘hello’ twice and was told I had to wait because the attendant was speaking to another customer and couldn’t speak to both of us at the same time. I told her I was on my lunch hour, and she told me to wait. Her tone was sarcastic and rude she infuriated me. I could have driven away and I bet many people do. No one willing to spend money wants to spend their lunch hour or their time in general being treated like that. However, feeling feisty… I went into the building and asked to speak to a manager.(From my personal experience, managers here can be NOTORIOUSLY slothful, rude and uncaring.) The manager who helped me today however, was wonderful – she’s just what this restaurant needs. In fact, she’s the kind of manager all of us need. She listened to me and empathized with my issue; she made my shake herself, and she got into the kitchen and made my burger as well. I went to hand her my payment and she wouldn’t take it, she said the meal was complimentary. Now I NEVER expect a freebie here – and even though I have put up with a lot of slowness, rudeness, and orders not done right, I’ve never received one. And honestly… I hope to never get one again. I sincerely hope that this manager will wrangle this restaurant into the kind of establishment it’s meant to be: clean, with well-prepared food, good service and fun to visit. And hopefully they’ll bring in an entire posse of managers of the same kind who will keep a careful eye over the staff they hire. Watch ‘em closely people, because your staff is tearing your business down.

Only time I like coming to Steak ‘n Shake is for their caramel apple shake in the fall. We went inside this time and decided to get a quick dinner along with our shakes. Wait staff could care less that we were there and the nice looking hamburgers on the menu was kind of funny because a child could have but our hamburgers together better. Oh well, see you next fall for that amazing shake, will go through drive thru next time.

Food was decent, my hot dog was very good and my cookie butter shake was outstanding! The service… not so much. We were seated promptly by someone whom we could not understand due to her mumbling and, also, we could not make ourselves understood. We needed a high chair, she apparently didn’t understand or hear us and we had to find it ourselves. No one came for our drink order for several minutes, long enough for us to decide what we wanted for our meal. Simple, non-elaborate orders of water and Cokes all around with 2 milkshakes(did I say the cookie butter shake was DELISH?), One burger was wrong but everything else was fine, and the burger was almost correct the second time around. My ONLY complaint about this place is the service. The food is acceptable for what it is, the place looks clean, and my cookie butter shake was absolutely fantabulous. As long as you’re not in a hurry and don’t have small children(we did), the food may almost be worth the wait if you have good company.

My family and I arrived at the Lawndale Dr, Greensboro, NC location a few minutes before 3pm on Sunday, 9÷13÷15. We were seated in a timely manner but then waited almost 20 minutes for a server to acknowledge us. I counted 6 or 7 servers on duty and the restaurant was not even half full. People who were seated after us had already received their beverages. I flagged down a server who was covering a large party next to us and asked if anyone was covering our section and he looked around and apologized and said he would get her(nice guy, very tall with even taller hair). We waited an additional 7 minutes with no server presence. At this point my 2 small children were asking when we were going to eat and my husband said«Let’s go» so we got up and left. As I walked out I told the server who we spoke to to tell our assigned waitress«Nevermind, we are leaving.» He apologetically shook his head in reply. While my family is not a frequent customer of Steak N Shake we do enjoy the food. We also find it to be family friendly, clean, a good value and the wait staff is usually okay even if there does seem to be a high turnover rate. I understand this is(hopefully) an isolated incident but, nevertheless, it is still wildly unacceptable. Even a brief«I’ll be with you in a moment» would have softened the blow of the ridiculous wait time. I contacted the company via email and hope something can be done to rectify our negative experience. I will update my review if and when I hear from management.

Do not go here late at night. We couldn’t get service through the drive thru after circling three times so we decided to go inside. After going inside we immediately realized why. One waitress was listening to music and signing to herself while she only greeted half of the customers. She also dragged the garbage can to s table to clean it off and then after dragging it back served people food without washing her hands. One waiter would disappear for 15 minutes and only reappeared when customers decided to serve themselves their own drinks after no service. The manager/supervisor was hanging outside with his posse and hustled in when he saw tables of 6 and 8 walk in. The only employee on point was the grille cook trying to do his best to make up for the slack of the other employees.

Although the burger and shakes were decently delicious I would have to give only 3 stars for the quality of service. We stood at the door for over 3 minutes until someone would seat us, once there we waited again forever for our menus which the waitress apparently forgot she had forgotten to give to us. «Awe inspiringly slow»

Slow service. No one was in the restaurant, our food sat in the window while our server was in the back. Fries were cold and had to ask for refills. Probably will not go back.

First time at Steak and Shake for breakfaśt. Very friendly, personable waitress and service was very good. I ordered the egg special with two scrambled eggs, bacon and toast. A great deal for $ 3.99. The place felt a lot like a classic diner, but new and shiney. A decent choice for a low priced breakfast. Oh, they’re open 24⁄7.

After waiting in the drive through lane behind one person for 15 minutes, for a milk shake, I just left. Terrible service!!! Won’t be back to this place anytime soon.

Dry burgers and bad nacho cheese sauce. The chocolate chip mint shake, however, was pretty awesome. Just a very mediocre experience in terms of the food.

tonight was great. i was in and seated had my drink, placed my food order, and had my complete order in less than 15 minutes. this was great and the food was so fresh and hot. i don’t think i have had a better sandwich/burger than i had this go around. triple steakburger with cheese! there was only a few groups of customers here this time but that left more time for the servers to focus on the business they do have. the only thing that worries me was their sanitation score. their latest score was 93.5 on 4÷30÷14 and here is what they failed on: — when to wash hands required and must be properly practiced. after touching ones body or before changing gloves –sanitizer not properly made up and used at proper strength. quat sanitizer must be min. of 200ppm. –effectiveness-hair restraints — required for food handlers. –must cover/protect cups at dispensers. keep all single service items inverted. –repair condensation leaking at burger prep. station. replace gasket on reachin freezer. must repair running faucet not cutting off. must replace parts and racks in mccall freezer. –must clean and sanitize top of ice machine, shelf above 3 comp. sink, clean utensil storage rack. also must clean betw/equipt. as discussed. –must clean floors better under and behind equipt

I’ve had good experiences here but not this time. I ordered the guacamole burger, which came out cold. Not luke warm, but cold. My coworker ordered a hot dog without mustard because he is allergic and it still came out with mustard on t. So his food came out halfway through the rest of us finishing our meals. The shakes came out in to-go cups even though we didn’t want them to go, and mine wasn’t a malt, even though I ordered mine as one. I also asked for a spoon for my shake and after several moments, I realized my waitress had forgotten, so I got up and asked someone else. The waitress said she was tired and needed a nap but if you’re so tired you can’t do even half your job right, you don’t need to be at work. She sure didn’t represent the business well today and I won’t be visiting anytime again soon.
