I drove by this place for like 2 years or ever since I first moved to Greensboro. This place is right down the street from A&T so it definitely has a great location. I wish that they had some type of dining room. I stopped by and had 2 hot dogs with chili and ketchup. Everyone has always told me that this place was good but I didn’t pay it much attention. On the two occasions I stopped by here I was certainly pleased with the outcome. The all beef hotdogs were really good and the chili is right too. Just like you have seen they wrap them up in wax paper so sometimes it could get a little messy but the value is there. If you are ever in the area and are thinking something good and cheap stop in and try a dog or two or check the rest of the menu out people say the burgers are spot on but I have yet to try them. I do appreciate local business and will continue to support them.

Swung thru here for a quick bite, thinking how bad could it be? Hot dogs for $ 1? Sounds like a winner, but it certainly wasn’t. The wiener itself was pretty tasty, but the bun was overly soft and wet. I ordered them with mustard, ketchup, chili and onions. They came with just chili and it was pretty weak and flavorless. Also got an order of fries but they were undercooked and still hard in the middle. They tasted more like fish than potato, so i guess everything gets fried in the same oil and never cleaned, just awful.

Been driving past here for last 3 months and finally stopped. Should have stopped sooner! Very good chili cheese dogs; will have to try more items on the large menu. Can’t wait to try the sweet potato pie!

I drive by the place all the time when I’m in town on business and have always been intrigued. It’s got that local-dive feeling to it, but you know it’s gotta be good. I mean, how else would this place still be around. I pulled into the drive-thru and placed an order. I was only going to do a hot dog, but since it was Thursday and they had $ 1.00 burgers, I went for one of those also. I got the cheese dog with everything on it(and it came with EVERYTHING), and the burger. The dog was alright, but the burger was fantastic. I’m hooked, and will eat here every time I’m in town. It’s clean, quick, and delicious.

As a Sr. at A&T and intern at Bennett College that lived on the corner of East Market Street, I have had many an Aggie Dog from Skipper’s and they were all awesome. Fridays often meant a couple of Aggie specials(chilli, slaw, mustard and onions) and a side of fries after a long day in class or interning. Aside from Cook-Out, these are in my humble opinion, the BEST hotdogs in Greensboro(definitely better than Yum Yums, which aren’t bad, just not Skipper’s good!). I vaguely recall having ordered the burger a couple of times– it wasn’t stand-out, but, when you’re surrounded by Burger King(at the time it was across from Bluford Library), Sonic, Mickey D’s, Cook-Out and Wendy’s all a couple blocks over on Summit, you’re here for the dogs-anything else is secondary. Filling, tasty and a great value for your buck, this is the go-to-place for those Aggies on a budget and any one who loves a solid, old-fashioned hot dog.

I actually attended A&T for college and never went to Skip’s while I was there, I judged a book by its cover. Lets just say I am MAD at myself for not going. This was a delicious hot dog. I had the Aggie Dog(AGGIEPRIDE) and this was maybe one of the best dogs I’ve had in Greensboro. This place is a must go if your ever in G-Boro.

This little walk-up, drive thru place, just down from the A & T campus is owned by Skip Alston, of local political fame, and its worn side proudly claims that over 4 million hot dogs have been sold here. There is no inside seating, but there are some pinic table setups outside. They run some weekly specials, include a hot dog on Mondays for $ 1.00, and they offer some seafood items, as well as dogs, sausages, burgers, and fries. The hot dog, goes normally for $ 1.65, is a pretty solid, if not spectacular, version of the classic Southern chili dog. The wiener is pretty nice, and the bun soft and gooy, and the chili, while meaty, is a little thin on flavor — but not a bad dog. Slaw is pretty good, with just a touch of sweetness. The Smoked Sausage, not huge and a little pricey at $ 2.65, has a nice smokey flavor, but was considerably overcooked for my taste, and the onions and green peppers had suffered the same fate. Fries have little flavor, and are under-salted — I’d pass. Pretty good place to pickup a hot dog, especially on Mondays — I’d probably pass on the rest of the menu.
