Gigi’s Cupcakes of Greensboro

When I lived in Ohio, there was a Gigi’s there, people always said they had really good cupcakes. I always said I’m going to go and try it, but I never did. When I saw it was one now here in Greensboro, I said I wasn’t going to miss this opportunity again, lol.
Coming back from dinner one night, I had a sweet tooth so I stopped in for a quick cupcake. The staff here was very sweet. I told them I was a Gigi’s newbie, so they made sure they gave me all the information they could about all the cupcakes they had that night. It was so many choices, they all looked good, but one caught my eye above the rest… The strawberry shortcake! A small piece of paradise that cupcake was. Very tasty. It’s good to have another good dessert option around here. I will be back to try another one.

The staff was less than friendly, almost to the point of rude, including the owner — who first interrupted our conversation to tell us she’s the owner, and then couldn’t tell us what sweetener was used in the sugar free cupcakes («I don’t know, I can’t think right now, you’ll just have to come back when I can think. It’s just… some kind of sugar free mix.» — there was one other person in the shop). The cupcakes were ok, especially if you like a huge pile of frosting and a little bit of cake, but they were very crumbly and required a plate and a fork– not at all something to pick up and eat. The negative interaction with the owner is enough that I will not return. We have too many good bakeries in town to spend money (a LOT of money in comparison to the pricing for other local cupcakes) here.
After sharing this review with the business via their social media page, I received a less than pleasant message from the owner. Rather than answering the question about the ingredients in the cupcake and frosting mix they use, apologizing, or somehow working to get me back in the store as a customer for a potentially positive experience, the owner instead chose to claim that my review is false, rant about how she was not rude and was just too busy to answer me that day in the shop (again, there was one other customer and another staff person was helping them), and said «visit other shops in Greensboro by all means»
Horrible customer service, horrible ownership, and I will never set foot in this shop again. They could have delicious cupcakes but with ownership that treats customers this way, why would anyone want to support this business?!

I love that a Gigi’s finally opened in Greensboro! The morning staff on Tuesday was super friendly and informative about their cupcakes. One front of house employee said they have bakers into work as early as 6am to bake fresh cupcakes and continuously bake fresh! I promise you will get addicted after one bite. So much better than the Winston store in my opinion!

I was one of the 1^st people in line today for the Grand Opening! I must say the cupcakes I chose were delicious. I chose the Gingerbread Star, Winter Wonderland, Turtle Cheesecake, Scarlett’s Red Velvet, Winter Wedding & Miss Princess. They are baked fresh daily and they have a variety of different options each day. They were Buy 5, Get 1 Free. Last but not least, the staff is also very friendly and welcoming. Congrats on your grand opening!!!
