I give two stars only because of one of the employees who works there. He has a beard and wears winter caps. He is very loud and bangs stuff. He talks out loud about his personal life and what he’s buying or wearing! He was even exclaiming about how his gf bought $ 70 worth of lingerie from Victoria’s Secret. This is not cool and it’s not good coffeeshop or business etiquette. I was also told that they only had a decaf americano for people who like decaf coffee. After making it, I tasted it and it was like drinking water with a few drips of coffee. I asked him to make it a little stronger and so he spent another 10 seconds adding more espresso to the cup. It was still gross. Very sad that we won’t be coming anymore. It’s like this every time we come. The actual location and shop is pretty cool, especially for a small city like Greensboro.

Stopped in today for the first time as I was looking for baked goods from Wallflour(vegan bakery). The woman at the counter(late 20s with open hoop septum piercing) did nothing to make me feel welcome. I asked if they had anything other than the 2 brownies I saw and she pointed to a small cooler and mentioned another item. I asked what that was and she brushed me off, saying I could look at it and see. I had a newborn in my arms and was really just hoping for a brief description of the item. She was just cold and unwelcoming. Although they seem to have plenty of yummy coffee drinks and several mill alternatives(awesome!), I won’t bother coming back because the service was sub-par. Maybe their regular crowd likes their coffee with a cold shoulder, but I prefer a smile.

Creative combinations made for the coffee drinks here, but I have never been blown away by the coffee. That said, if you love a sugary concoction with a mild coffee flavor, do try some of their speciality drinks as that is what you will receive. I’ve tried the«Jennifer Lawrence,» and it is definitely a good drink– just for a dessert.

This an awesome place to hang out, but only an OK coffee shop. The espresso drinks are all creative and good, they’re all prepared well, and the selection of wines and beers are great for when you go here to catch some music or whatever event is happening(props to whoever books acts and schedules events, they’re all fun). The atmosphere is great, especially with the art gallery, pool table/darts, and arcade in the back. If I want to chill with some friends and drink coffee or drink a beer, I go to Common Grounds. My only problem is with the actual coffee itself. It’s mediocre. The house blend is perfectly palatable, but Fortuna Roasters has produced far better house blends for other local restaurants and cafes. Given that the house is the only coffee they offer, I expected something more distinctive. The espresso tastes like Starbucks espresso — perfectly good in a sugary mixed drink, terribly bitter and overly smoky on its own. If they upped the quality of the coffee, this would be a 5 star review. Go here if you prioritize hanging out and having a good time over an excellent cup of coffee, which I often do.

Great shop. The drinks are all top notch and the outdoor patio is great when the weather is nice. Free and fast wifi(lookin’ at you TSCH) makes it a great place to study. In the few years I’ve been coming, the shop’s gotten cozier and more friendly, with an ever expanding menu of items. Staff, particularly evening staff(younger guy and the women) are all exceptionally fast and friendly. My go to.

Guitar music. Dude with tats making coffee drinks, serving beer & wine, ecclectic crowd and live band… equals totally awesome & unique coffee shop! Yeah this spot is like no other coffee shop I’ve ever been to, but im glad I stumbled across it on a random Friday night! Oh yeah, coffee is named after famous people. My «Bill Murray» was really a salted caramel latte, and a Kate Moss=skinny latte lol… different but enjoyable. Cheers!

Update to my initial one star. The manager was nice to reach out and apologize. It sounds like they are working on the gluten free issues. I searched for this placed based on the GF comments. I have celiac, so my coffee was ruined after using the pasta stir stick. I should have noticed though. I wish them good luck — they seem nice. Not a great experience for me. I was in town for a day and was in need of coffee. I chose this place because of the gluten free goodies, but they were all out. Then, I went to stir my coffee and realized the stir sticks were actually raw pasta. Since I have celiac, the coffee went into the trash and I stopped at Starbucks. Oh well, probably good, but not for those who need gluten free.

I just tried their coffee again and it was freaking awesome, yay! I’m so thrilled the corner really needed a great coffee shop and now it has it!

The coffee here — especially their celebrity themed flavors(if you like peanut butter and hazeulnut, try the Bradd Pitt!) is delicious. So are their pastries. It’s definitely not as cheap as Dunk-N-Donuts coffee, but your money’s worth. If I lived closer I would go every day. They usually have vegan and gluten free options for their coffee & their pastries, so if those apply to you you’re in luck!

Common grounds is my favorite hang out spot with my friends. The drinks are all made there and they have an Xbox and a pool table.

Just walked across the street from Sticks and Stones(awesome pizza place) and found this place. What a surprise! It’s like a combination of every awesome thing put together in one place: coffee, wine, art, chill out room, music, videogames. I could live here. I got a dirty chai that was fantastic and my wife got a whole bunch of gluten free cookies that were delicious. Great place to get some dranks and chill

I’m sorry, everyone, because I’ve let you down. I’ve held out on sharing this five-star gem with you. Will you forgive me, Unilocal? It’s not you, it’s me. I was selfish; I just wanted something to keep and call my very own. Sometimes when you stumble across beauty before it becomes a sensation, you just want to keep it that way; you hope that even though it’s crystal clear for you, you can keep it quiet so that it stays just the way it is, just as accessible and humble and spirited. I love their lattes, particularly how creative their lattes are, how delectably they assuage my caffeine desires, and how lovely the people behind the counter are. Anyone following my reviews knows that server arrogance is a particular pet peeve of mine; none of that here, nor is there fake friendliness. Instead, wait your turn and you will chat with the genuinely personable server as he/she makes your coffee just the way you like it! This place could be your regular neighborhood coffee shop, the way we dream of in books and movies; there always seems to be a cup, a chair, and a smile for you.

My favorite coffee shop in town! The staff are always super friendly and welcoming. A great, relaxed environment. What a coffee shop should be! They also have delicious gluten free/vegan treats for sale at the counter. If you live in Lindley Park and you haven’t been here, you’re missing out!

This place is neat. I went on a Saturday afternoon. It was completely dead – with only the guy manning the counter and a young girl watching cartoons. The man working was really nice. He even made suggestions about what to order. I ended up going with the Americano. The Americano was fantastic. I dare say it would match any coffee shop in the Triad area. The floor space was open with comfortable seating. It’s a rather small space, but the layout made it look much larger. One pleasant surprise was the more than ample parking. Maybe it was just the time and day that I visited, but there were no shortage of parking spots. It’s a nice place! I like it! Though, frankly, as one who frequents triad coffee shops– outside of its convenient location for the residents on and around Elam, I can’t see how it’s very different.

This really is a great coffee shop! I tried to go to another coffee shop in the area originally but it was close to UNCG so there wasn’t a parking spot in sight. Common Grounds is a bit on the outskirts of town but it is right near Linkdley Park and Sticks and Stones Pizza. They had a few parking spots out front and I had no problem securing one. The person who made my drink was friendly and was pretty fast at making the latte. I went with the pumpkin and it was really good. Dare I say better than my beloved chain classic. There was plenty of seating inside and it was quiet, only a few other people enjoying the atmosphere. The music selection was great! It was a lot of acoustic low key music that was perfect background noise when you are trying to work or chat with friends. They have a back room that’s closed off that some people were holding a meeting in when I arrived. It is nice that they have that space so if you do want a little more privacy at the shop you can easily get it. Not sure what their reservation policy is, but it looked like they even had a TV and popcorn machine in there. I will be back to try out some of their other latte flavors. It sounds like they def. try to switch it up. They were advertising a Hazelnut Spice latte and a Dirty Chai Pumpkin Pie latte which both sounded really good.

I have never been big on buying coffee regularly– I can make it at home! But this place is a GREAT find. Their iced coffee is amazing, they have great sweets from a local bakery, and the staff is always friendly. Such a cute, friendly place, and a great place to start a summer morning. :)

A fantastic find off Walker Ave. Both times I’ve been, the coffee has been superb. Rich and creamy. The baristas were fun and friendly. The atmosphere is casual, very nice, with reaffirming thoughts on the walls and plenty of games and musical instruments strewn about that keep you busy while you wait for your order to be prepared.
