When I went looking for a new place to eat lunch today I thought of Boulder Run. I checked Unilocal for the lunch hours(1100 –1500) and headed over. When we arrived we hesitated to make our way down the stairs to the entrance because there was vomit at the bottom. My friend refused to go down. I ran down to see if they were open. Doors were locked. Needless to say, I will never attempt to eat in this building as long it’s called Boulder Run. Just horrible.

We had a really lovely time on our visit to Boulder Run! Wiped from a day at the nursing home, we struggled the block and a half to Boulder Run for some much needed refreshments. Located in the basement, we meandered down the steps to the restaurant to find it relatively empty. We were promptly greeted and were given the pick of whatever table suited our fancy. John was our server, and for his first day on the job, he did a great service of paying attention to our every need. If he didn’t know the answer to a question, he was quick to find the answer! He wasn’t too familiar with the menu, but we figured out it was a guest cook who had come for super bowl Sunday to cater the food exclusively for the event. I was a little disappointed having missed the house food menu, my spirits were low only for a moment as the guest food was delightful and really hit the spot. It arrived at our table quickly, which was greatly appreciated. We even had the special treat of a live acoustic musician who played some fantastic covers, and was able to meet some requests that lifted our moods as we were all pretty down about the health of our uncle whom we had come to visit. Overall, our experience was quite nice. My only critique was that they severely lacked variety in beer. In this fantastic day in age where craft beer rules, they could definitely use some local beer. They even boast that their food ingredients are all locally sourced, so at least a couple options of local brews should be part of the deal, yeah? In the end, we would definitely go again. The restaurant has outdoor seating, TVs for games, and they even had a beer pong table setup for the big game.(We personally are not ‘game watchers’ or ‘beer pong enthusiasts’ but I appreciate that this means something to others.) It was pretty clean and comfy for a dive bar, and they had a killer tin ceiling. Would definitely suggest giving them a shot! I look forward to trying their house menu sometime!
