Flash Gordon, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Gordon’s for over 12 years. He remains one of the only docs I have ever met who really cares about his patients. If every doctor were required to study with this man, our medical care would be improved 1,000%. He does not assume you know what he is talking about, and takes time to carefully listen to your description of your illness and to explain details. At one point he was the medical director for the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic. His referral network is outstanding too and he has referred me to an excellent gastroenterologist, and a great orthopedic surgeon. His staff is responsive and kind. Compassionate caring, Dr. Flash is the Best!

Old fashioned is true! He is super honest and not in the business for the money, that’s for sure. He gave me great advice on how to lower my weight and told me I should be taking more vitamins. He didn’t order any weird test, instead he reviewed my medical history with me and is the first doctor to actually take my family’s medical issues into consideration. My older sister has a thyroid issue and as soon as I said that he ordered a test. He also attended my husband and prescribed an inhaler for his asthma.
He was very attentive and informational. His front desk staff is very nice as well! These ladies keep it together for this office, if you need an honest doctor go see Dr. Gordon!

Dr. Gordon is a great and unique GP. He takes his time to speak with you and asks a lot of questions. He has a wonderful, off-​the-​wall sense of humor. Although one might have to wait longer than normal for him — I take a book or usually catch up on reading the news on my mobile whenever I have an appointment — I like to think that this is because he is taking his time with each and every one of his patients, and this is what gets him behind schedule on occasion.
After each appointment, I feel comfortable leaving his office having discussed my condition in detail. I like the fact that he records his notes and provides me with a copy after each and every visit. He also makes sure each and every blood test report is sent to me in addition to his office, and he always calls after receipt of each test result.
His vast experience has helped him identify the root cause of issues that I feel others would have missed. He also tries to treat the underlying cause of the problem in many different ways, and without immediately prescribing medication as many other newer/​younger docs tend to do (in my experience).

Dr. Gordon is the best doctor I have ever met. He won’t be satisfied until he finds out what’s wrong with you. He really listens to you! Doctors these days don’t spend more than 10 minutes with their patients… I highly recommend him.

I’m going to try and keep this short. I like Dr. Gordon a lot. Are the reviews about wait times sometimes true, yes but that’s because he takes the time to listen to you and talk to you, not at you. He is not judgmental and is patient. I’ve never felt like I wasn’t a priority with him. He’s what young doctors should aspire to be.

I saw doctor F. Gordon just once as I recently moved to this area but he impressed me with many things that became very rare at medical offices. First — I was able to get an appointment within a week even without an emergency. Second — He spent about an hour examining me, talking to me and checking my medical history. Third — I had some shots of the medicine prescribed by my previous doctor left and I talked to several medical offices to give them to me but everybody refused. They said they need to make a blood test and if blood test shows the need of those shots I can make an appointment and the nurse will make them. When I said that I had a blood test and my doctor prescribed those shots based on the results from those tests the answer was that they need their own. It’s not only about another $ 200 for the blood test and 2 doctor visits, but also about 2 weeks delay. And I have to have this medication every other week. When I described to Dr. Gordon my situation and he discovered that I have that medication in my posession just asked several questions about the influence of those shots on me and asked his nurse to give me a shot. He answered all my questions and referred me to a specialist. Nothing incredible but so rare in the modern medical offices. I am very happy to have Dr. Gordon as my primary physician. He is very detail oriented and try to take the best care of his patients he can. And he sounds very logical.
Need to say a few words about his medical staff as well. His nurse gave me a shot of a very thin medication and she did it so gently and slow that I almost did not feel it. Great job! I had previous 8 shot of the same medication from different nurses and it was never so painless as that time.

DR GORDON IS THE BEST DOCTOR!
I have been his patient for the past 7 years, and he is the best doctor I have ever encountered. I am suffering from lower back for the past 25 years and was unable to live a full and happy life due to this condition. Before seeing Dr Gordon I saw many doctors that gave me shots that did not help at all. Dr Gordon took his time to REALLY analyze my particular problem and solved my back pain with regular medication.
I never felt better and I did get my life back. Since I became a patient of this fantastic doctor, I now feel like a new person. and is able to travel all over the world

Dr Gordon is the best there is. A true family doctor who really cares about his patients and takes the time to ask questions and really understand what is going on. He’s funny and thoughtful, insightful and very well informed. As I am reading some of the other reviews I keep just thinking «ditto!» I am glad to see so many others who appreciate him.

Dr Gordon does it the old fashioned way-​he takes his time, and he LISTENS. At the end of the visit he records his chart notes right in front of you, and it’s amazing how he’s picked up every little detail you’ve described. I think this is a nearly lost art.
Also he has a wry sense of humor and you can tell he doesn’t take himself too seriously. I’ve met with other doctors who were pompous and loved nothing more than the sound of their own voice. Dr Gordon is different from that, and better.
I suspect this type of individualized personal care will soon be a thing of the past-​corporations are taking over health care in Marin. Thank goodness for holdouts like Flash MD.
Office staff is nice. Long waits for visits but that’s true everywhere. At least here you know it’s because the doctor is being thorough. One time they called me to say he was running especially late, which I appreciated.

Dr. Flash Gordon is a treasure. My wife and I are in our mid-30’s and early 40’s, respectively, and having moved frequently in our lives we have each had numerous primary care physicians, including some great ones. None have been quite as great as Dr. Gordon. There are four reasons for our enthusiasm. First, and most importantly, he is an excellent diagnostician. We’ve presented him with some weird illnesses and conditions during our time as his patients, and he has always approached our care methodically, reasoning through his investigation of our symptoms and explaining that reasoning with plain language. At the end of each visit he dictates his notes into his laptop in front of his patients, which is when one appreciate just how closely he was conducting the examination and listening. Second, Dr. Gordon is a charming guy with a dry sense of humor who doesn’t take himself too seriously, which we value in a «bedside manner.» Swapping puns with him has made visiting a doctor a pleasure instead of a chore. Third, he respects his patients’ time. We have never had to wait more than a week for an appointment for non-​urgent visits, and if the matter is more serious he fits you in right away. In our many visits, we have rarely waited more than 3 minutes in the waiting room. Let me repeat that in case any other doctors are reading this: 3 minutes. He does not rush his visits in the exam room. He’ll give you as much time as you need to work through all of your questions and concerns. Finally, he appears committed to the practice of medicine as a profession more than as a business. He hosts medical residents (doctors in training) regularly and engages them in patient care and one can see how much they are enjoying the learning experience. He regularly provides his patients hand-​out on preventative care. We could go on, but you get the picture. We feel fortunate to be his patients and recommend him to your family. GREAT DOCTOR.
I can honestly say that Dr. Gordon is the best GP I’ve ever met.
Few doctors today actually take the time to talk to you, ask questions (sometimes seemingly out of the blue, but in fact, related to your concerns), really check you out, and then give you an INTELLIGENT AND INFORMED DIAGNOSIS.
Dr. Gordon spends more time you than any other doctor I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to many! And that’s a great thing, because he is a real diagnostician, asking the right questions to get to the heart of your problem.
Less experienced docs now just seem to be working for pharmaceutical and insurance companies, basically «medicine by numbers.» But not Dr. Gordon — he does what’s best for YOU.
Clearly a lifetime as a doctor has given him insight many other doctors would miss. What’s more, he spends time clearly explaining, in plain English, what’s happening, what your problem is, and how he’s going to treat it.
He also has a great sense of humor and good art on the walls!
His office staff is friendly and efficient, and he makes for a great primary care doc, because sometimes he’s the only doc you’ll need to see. They’re fully online now with Follow My Health, so you can request prescription refills and see results of your tests.
Dr. Gordon will take care of you. Switch from that faceless medical corporation and go see him!

Smart, plain spoken, efficient, experienced and a great diagnoser. I’ve been a happy patient of Dr Flash for more than a decade. If there is something you don’t understand, he explains. He LIKES explaining. In fact he’s written the book on motorcycle medicine called Blood, Sweat and Second Gear. And he has a sense of humor. How many doctors do you know with an original Mat Groening cartoon hanging in his waiting room? Five stars for Dr. Flash!

I have been looking for a great primary physician for years, many years. I don’t think I am asking a lot. I want someone who follows up if there is a problem, looks into things, orders blood work and does a thorough exam when a physical is due. Really I just wanted someone that paid attention, seemed to know what they were doing, and someone who cares about my well being.
I found that person and more. Dr. Gordon, really listens. He thinks through things to pursue possible solutions and/​or causes. I feel like for the first time in so long someone is listening and doing follow up as needed. I feel thoroughly taken care of and supported. Plus he is a joy to be around.
Just what I want in a primary care physician and more!

I wouldn’t have any other primary physician. Dr Gordon is attentive, curious, available and humorous. He will go to any lengths to figure what is wrong with you, and he brings a wonderful common-​sense approach to medicine, and he will tell you what he thinks without hesitation. Now if he just had a cape.

I was referred to Dr. Gordon about 2 years ago. His diagnostic skills are among the best and he listens. An MD with sensitivity is rare today. A busy, yet friendly practice. Dr. Flash is an interesting and caring dude. I highly recommend him.

Hands down the most attentive and through primary care doctor I have ever had.
Went in for my first appointment, I have several issues… He listened to me and gave me excellent care. On my second appointment, he gave me some simple advise that likely prevented my needing surgery.
I particularly apprecaite his approach that honors my request to take few medications,… Excellent doctor very happy to have found him.

Doc Gordon is the best. He follows up. Is like what care is supposed to mean.

You will never find a better diagnostician. Ever. He will not let you leave unless and until he finds out what the problem is. Very smart and professional.
