The place used to be a hit but has been going downhill badly the last couple years. Food is mediocre at best(probably just since Sergio stopped making the food himself). Poor quality and prices going up. I had my last visit there.

I always wanted to go to this place, looks like a nice location but then I saw they serve veal and decided not to. I can’t understand why restaurants still serve that, it’s such an inhumane way to treat an animal.

A great place. We made reservations. That was a good idea. This place was busy even if it was 5 pm. The waiter was not very attentive and we had to ask for a glass of wine, but he did make a wonderful recommendation. We also had to wait for a bit to have bread served. Lots of wait staff wandering around but not waiting on tables. We got our food after quickly though, after we ordered… It was worth it all. Gnocchi, lasagna, chicken parm and spinach raviolis all rated rave reviews. They willingly boxed up our remaining food and all was good. The capper on the evening was a vanilla panna cotta that was to die for. We shared it as it was rich and creamy. DELICIOUS. There is outside eating and would have been nice on a warm evening. The inside is clean and bright and the kitchen area is right in the seating area. I would certainly go back. Sergio’s Caffe started our evening out perfectly. $ 148. for 5 people

I’ve always liked Sergio’s. But tonight when I went there with another couple to celebrate the other couple’s husband’s birthday, the service was terrible. My partner and I arrived early and were seated so as to surprise other couple who came in a few minutes behind. I was surprised at how we sat there for 15 minutes without even a glass of water. The poor service continued throughout the meal. I will never go to Sergio’s again for a special celebration. I’ll return for a casual meal when I don’t mind $ 21 for a salad with a small piece of grilled salmon, but I don’t trust the staff as I once did. They just didn’t seem to care.

This place is really hit or miss. When they are good they are SOGOOD, but sometimes the service is just eeh. Never had a complaint about the food. It’s very delicious. Pricey but delicious. So if you don’t mind a splurge now and again it’s definitely worth a try.

We have been here a for lunch a few times. Love their salmon sandwich. Their prices are high for what you get. We had dinner here once and found the food and service just okay and the prices too high. Will have lunch again but not dinner.

Been here 6 times in the last 3 months. The food has always been excellent. I have a hard time not ordering the Choppino. The Ingredients are tender and not overcooked. The sauce is fantastic.(ask for extra broth its great) My wife always lets me taste her dish and it has also always been excellent. The service also has been cherry and attentive. Try the local wine and beer on tap they have too. Cheers

Highly recommended! My fiancé and I dine at Sergio’s often, it is one of our favorite places in town(keep in mind this is a small town). Five stars for the overall experience, four stars for the food. The owner’s wife is a gem. The pastas and specials are usually very good. The salads leave something to be desired. They are open from lunch all the way through dinner which is great if you want to grab an afternoon meal. And they are very accommodating for gluten free eaters.

My waiter was very nice and friendly. However, he forgot our drinks. The ambience is very nice. The serving size was quite small. There prices are OK. However, no one in my party four felt as though their food was any better than any restaurant USA.

So normally I’d never complain about Sergio’s as it’s one of our favorite places. Tonight, however I was met with appalling service and sub par food. Our server was both rude and inconsiderate to my fiancé and I. Most of our meal was delicious but my Veal was over cooked. When I brought this to my servers attention I was met with hostility and no willingness to discuss our liking of the meal? I will definitely come back but not if the rude lady is working.

Great food. We had salads, sandwiches and cannelloni among the 6 of us. Everything was great and service was good. Recommend eating here for a lighter lunch.

I’ve been here several times now and every meal I’ve had here has been delicious and well executed. I’ve had osso buco, risotto, fish specials, various salads and soups and all have been excellent. Sergio and Elena are perhaps the most hospitable people I’ve ever met, they are very welcoming and gracious. When they’re at their busiest things can sometimes get a bit backed up, but that’s to be expected. Sergio’s has quickly become part of my regular rotation.

Just had dinner for the first time with our good friends and the food is excellent. I had the veal saltimbocca and my wife had chicken piccata and they were both soooo good! Excellent meals and excellent service. We will definitely be returning soon!

As a business owner(Nevada City Picture Framing and Art Gallery in the 7 Hills District) in Nevada County; I enjoy eating a healthy, beautiful dinner in an atmosphere that is pleasing after a long day at work. Sergio’s offers this and much more. All of the staff work very hard to make sure everyone is cared for. The piano player offers a special effect that entices you to come back for all of it. The selection of wines and beers are excellent as well. Plus, Lazy Dog is right next door.

If you’re in Grass Valley and looking for a great place to have lunch(and dinner I suppose)… go downtown to Sergio’s on Main Street. The atmosphere is modern gold rush… the food is as good as you’d see on any Cooking a Channel… The service was attentive and intuitive… Only drawback was my wife wasn’t with me… sorry Julie

What a find! Beautiful Grass Valley location with comfortable outdoor seating as well as a nicely cool and decorated interior. We sat outside because we had our little tiny shih tzu in tow. At first I only stopped in to wait for my family and have a glass of wine. However, the place was so charming we came back later for dinner. The wine recommendations were fantastic. I kept to Italian varieties while my husband had the Poolside Pale Ale and loved it. For dinner my 10-year-old had a generous portion of fettuccine Alfredo, which to my surprise, he ate every bite of. My husband described his chicken Alfredo as good. I loved their authentic tomato sauce which really stole the show away from the seafood dish I ordered. The beauty of this establishment is in the perfect service and outstanding atmosphere. Next time I visit Northern California, I will be back!

I have not been to Sergio’s for several years– since before their move. My wife and I had dinner there tonight and we were both impressed. Very impressed. This is still a humble café but it has to be one of the classiest restaurants in Grass Valley. The food was very good and resonably priced. The service was excellent and the ambiance was upscale. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone. You should try it. Sergio is such a gracious gentleman. The staff are all professional and friendly. The food is authentic italian and presentation is outstanding. My wife had chicken picatta and I had the parmesian encrusted halibut. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot. We will definitely go back.

Went here for Mother’s Day dinner… had Chicken Marsala — creamy, buttery mashed potatoes, cooked«just right» assorted veggies & the chicken/wine sauce melted in your mouth! No matter how full you think you are(and you will get full!) have the Tiramisu for dessert. Oh! My! Gosh! Can’t go home without it! Perfect! and beautifully presented. Had a wonderful piano player during dinner that made for nice background. Don’t know if he is there every night or just weekends. FYI they do not have a full bar… wines, ports, and not sure what else.

My family and I decided to go on a mini roadtrip up north to see the leaves change. But unfortunately before we headed out, we didn’t call and found out it was too early to make the trip. We came across this small town and decided to walk around to stretch our legs after the two hour drive. We even checked out a few of their real estate. At one of the houses, my dad asked the real estate agent what he recommends to eat around here and this is the first place he mentioned. Thankfully it was within walking distance. Upon entering, we were glad that although they were busy, they had a table open for us to sit. The place is well decorated and even has a bar. I believe there was only one waitress on the floor, so you should be able to imagine the size of the place. She came over and asked us what we would like to drink. My sister and mom ordered Italian sodas and my dad and I ordered soda pop. When she came back to give us our drinks, she took our orders. We all ordered from the lunch special menu. I was surprised by how well she was handling all those tables on her own. Never did we feel neglected throughout our meal. I believe I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. It was really good. The noodles were al dente. The meatballs were juicy and very flavorful. The sauce wasn’t sour like most marinaras are, and I liked that. My family enjoyed their meals as well. So much that they didn’t want to share. Overall, it was a good experience. And we definitely left her a decent tip for serving us so efficiently. Kudos to her! Will I come back? Hopefully if I am ever in the area again.
