Ok this is one of those taquerias that you were looking if you wanted authentic street food! I had the Trompa(pig snout but don’t think anything until you’ve tried it! I love it) and Carnitas tacos and of course it hit the spot! They were out of the Lengua(beef tongue. Again, to each his own and I love it) because I came around 145pm and it is pretty popular. You order your tacos. Comes with corn tortillas but I got the flour. That’s extra. You get your tacos and after you pay, you head over to the little condiment bar and do your thing. The verde is what I chose. Top it off also with the onions, cilantro, and squeeze that lovely lime all over. Boom! 6 tacos total and a Coke. Muoy Bueno!

I think these reviews must come from friends or family members. If you want to try it, go at lunch time. We went in the evening. You walk up to a small counter and order, and food is in open containers that it is dipped out of. While it may have been hot at noon, our food was warm — not hot. The kind of warm from being in warming trays. The salsa bar was messy with salsa dripped all over, which made it unappealing. Very average and not hot. Will not go back, at least not in the evening.

To me this place is just your average taco place. Nothing too special at all. I’ve had better tacos and I’ve had worst. It’s nothing worth driving out your way to try. Only way I would recommend this to anyone, is if you’re just in the area.

Very good, authentic taco shop. Not a very fancy space but the taco meats and breakfast are great. The tripas are top notch.

I ate there about three months ago. Choose this place based on the stellar reviews. Sadly this place does not live up the hype. Ordered chicken tacos and I did eat them but they were not that good. Prices are the same as Chipotles yet value is no where even close. I have lived in El Paso and understand all about tacos. There is a lot of clutter in this place too. A good place for dust to collect. Try the place but keep your expectations in check. Customer experience was not that good.

It was delicious. Classic serendipitous hole in the wall place that you hope to discover. We highly recommend it. The owner was extremely personable. The fresh salsa was unbeatable. We will be back!

A great hole in the wall place for authentic tacos. Not a large our fancy place, but the staff are very friendly and bilingual. The pastor and barbacoa meat are incredible. Also their hot salsas are delicious. They open early for breakfast, which is the best time to find lengua meat.

What a hidden gem this place is for anybody that appreciates Tacos and especially in Grapevine,(who would of thought!?). Man, I was tasked to find a traditional taco place at the last minute for this Corporate group that had come from outside of Texas,(East Coast Folks). Sure enough, I used Unilocal to find this place. And ALL of us are so happy that I did find this place! The restaurant isn’t much to look at and from the outside… it’s kinda looks a bit run down. But, DON’T let the looks deceive you… the food is GOOD. Since I was the one that found this place. I was tasked to order for everyone that came along. And we had some people that never had eaten traditional Mexican style tacos before. So, I basically ordered everyone one of each style of meat that this place offered… just to make things simple. And of course, I advised all of the group to drink Horchata,(which always compliments the flavor of any taco). And to my surprise, this place offers molcajete style salsa which in my view is the BEST style of salsa that you can add to any taco. That there is just not seen much these days. To make a long story short, EVERYONE was extremely happy with ALL of the tacos that they had eaten. Even the ones that made the weird looks as they got their tacos… they were telling me that they were impressed with the flavors of the meats. Note: If you know Mexican style cuisine and you’re tasked to take people to a place like this… DON’T tell them what they’re eating. Let them try it the food first… most of the times they would judge the foods by their eyes and not give the food a try. Odds are that they will love the food… and in my case, EVERYONE did. :) And as the ONLY Vegetarian in the group, I was lucky enough to find that they did one of my favorite dishes. And that’s Chilaquiles,(a traditional Mexican dish. Typically, corn tortillas cut in quarters and lightly fried are the basis of the dish.[1] Green or red salsa or mole is poured over the crisp tortilla triangles, called totopos. The mixture is simmered until the tortilla starts softening. Pulled chicken is sometimes added to the mix. It is commonly garnished with cream crema, shredded queso fresco, raw onion rings and avocado slices. Chilaquiles can be served with refried beans, eggs(scrambled or fried), beef and guacamole as side dish)…and let me tell you, they did an awesome job. It was delicious!!! I was forced to order a second plate since most of the people of group wanted to take a bite from my dish. And most of the group even stated that they would order this dish the next time they would visit. How cool is that?! I managed to impress several people that thought that they knew Mexican food, and now this place has been added to the list of restaurants for visiting Corporate groups that will be visiting the Grapevine area. Like I stated before, the restaurant isn’t much on looks… but, the food is GOOD.

Took a study break and was craving tacos for dinner, and this place is the place to go! I l had beef tacos and my friend had their chicken tacos and both were equally amazing! There is a little salsa bar on the side of the store for customers to get their pico and lime. The place is a little crowded and old, but what matters is the food! Such an authentic gem! There’s also a dessert place nearby that sold Chamukos and Mangonadas. Pretty good also!

Ok so don’t let the appearance deter you. The best Mexican food is in dives. We went late and the guy behind the counter was our cook and server.(super sweet guy) he recommended the fajita style tacos in beef or chicken so we got one of each. OH. MY. GOD. YES. He was absolutely right. The taco meat was great with a top your own bar for salsa and pico and toppings. It was inexpensive and fantastic. Highly recommended.

Delicious. Authentic tacos. Meat seasoned to perfection. I’ve had pastor and carnitas. Both delicious. His breakfast tacos rock too. Luis is the owner, he’ll take great care of you. Tell him Henry the piloto sent you.

Great pulled pork(carnitas) tacos! Don’t let the hole-in-wall appearance frighten you away. There’s also a great Mexican dessert place a couple of doors down.

Yeah. I know. You’re not sure if you want to stop, here. You’ve driven by. For years. You’ve wondered, but always kept driving. Stop. This place isn’t a drive-by. It’s a destination. If you’re hungry, just slow down, pull in, and park. Walk in. Confidently. Know this: it’s all good. Fresh. Homemade with love. Family style. Order the tacos: Chorizo, egg, and cheese if you’re feeling breakfasty. Steak, egg, and cheese if you’re feeling brunchy. Breakfast all day. Chillaquillas. Pork, Chicken, Steak tacos on corn or flour tortillas… it’s all so, so, so very good. Fresh salsas. Horchata. Rice. Beans. Amazing yum for under $ 8. Don’t just drive by anymore. Stop. Savor. Feast. You can thank me, later.

So hard to find good tacos in this neck of the woods. Lots of designer tacos but not much in the way of authentic Mexican tacos. Drove by this place a few times and finally decided to stop in, glad I did. Depending on the time of day this shopping center can look a bit iffy based on the clientele hanging around from the convenience store next door, but the restaurant itself is very friendly. Family run and welcoming, I ordered 3 tacos steak, chorizo, and a third mixed. All were what I was hoping for. Just meat and a little area off to the side to add your own toppings, onions, cilantro, Pico, etc. No cheese or Lettuce in sight. Good choice of salsas too. Make sure you specify your tortilla type. I didn’t and got flour but corn is available and I’ll try next time. All in all a great find and a place I’ll work into my regular rotation.

Delicious tacos. The steak and Chicken are both moist and well seasoned. Plenty of room to sit down and watch the World Cup game or grab em to go. They have breakfast ones I’m looking forward to trying. But I come here every other week or so and have decided they are a staple in my diet. Highly recommend.

Taqueria El Campeon has one of the best steak tacos I’ve had in a very long time. The steak was juicy, seasoned just right with caramelize onions. The condiments include cilantro, onions, lime wedges, and a few choices of salsa. I met the owner, Luis, who has been running this place with passion for 14yrs. Unilocaler friends, come to this place for a cheap and authentic tacos experience.
