I first met Steve in barber school way back when… he is a super nice guy and very personable and friendly. You won’t regret going to see him for your next haircut. He use to cut my hair a lot when we were both students… and I’d never hesitate to have him cut it still… if ONLY he were in Portland, OR. Sending you a shout out Steve !

Edit(Oct. 21, 2011): I forgot to mention that you’ll usually need an appointment, so call and plan ahead(at least a day ahead if you want a Saturday appointment) — — — — — — — — — - I’m new to Granville(moved here in May 2011) and needed a local barber. Meant to visit this barber shop sooner but finally got around to trying it out today. I never caught the name of the lady who cut my hair but she did a great job — and was very fast, too. And for only $ 14 — a good value. I recommend making an appointment in advance. I don’t think they take many(if any walk-ins). Looks like there is usually 3 barbers working on Saturday. My barber told me the building was 100 years old and that space has been a barber shop since it first opened. She explained that ownership recently changed hands(I think she said«Steve,» the other barber there today) had just bought it and was thinking of things to do. I said it would be awesome to restore it to how it looked back in 1912 when it first opened as a barber shop. Right now the inside is hardly impressive… with little walled stalls. Looks cramped. Rip all that out, find 3 historic barber chairs, put in a wooden floor, get a large mirror, vintage barber pole — the whole nine yards. Then it would become a sought-after destination for locals and history buffs, too. My two cents! :)
