Absolutely the best food we could have asked for, coming from Orange County, CA to the middle of no where I was not expecting such decadent food that was so flavorful. Order the blue moon pasta and clam chowder and be prepared to be blown away. The flavor in this dish were amazing, so full of flavors and awesome. The drinks were amazing as well. Service was great. Ask for Justin he is great fun and amazing to talk to. By the way… Mom loved the oyster shooters because they were LARGE, creamy and FRESH!

So here’s the deal… this is a solid go to spot in Grants Pass. I’ve been twice in the past month. Both times it’s taken a little longer than it should to get seen, to order, to get your food but not the worst. The servers are very nice once you get their attention. And the food has come hot etc… BUT the fish and chips should be the Gold standard here… but they’re not. How Come? The cod is tuff… yep under cooked frozen kinda tuff. A bummer for sure. And so for a fish house I gotta say … boooo on you.

After a long day of traveling this hit the spot perfectly. I was struggling to find a vegan spot to eat at so I was very thankful to find the laughing clam. Their veggie burger was delicious! One of the best I’ve ever had! It was close to closing time but our waitress was still very nice even with a full restaurant. Our food came out fast too. A nice fun local place to stop at if your traveling through Grants Pass!

Shockingly culturally insensitive. My wife, who is Jewish, ordered the chicken tortilla soup. Menu says nothing about bacon, but sure enough… BACON! We asked if there was ham… She said, «No»… But there is bacon. Found out after a couple of bites. Nice move there restaurant! Absolutely ridiculous. Said they don’t list all the ingredients. Meaning we don’t know what the side of the can we got it off from says… Watched the chef walk out of the back room with all the salad lettuce held up against his dirty apron while he ran from there to the kitchen. Charged $ 7.99 for 10 punt grilled asparagus also. Even after being culturally violated they only comped the soup. I don’t expect comps when there are mistakes, but this was a pretty frickin big one! Plus, there was a random dude off the street wrapping silverware in napkins in exchange for beer. Grabbing all the utensils by the part you put in your mouth! Come on guys and gals… Get it together

Good food. Had ½ portion of fish and chips which was excellent and plentiful. My son had tortilla soup which he enjoyed. Service was good nice atmosphere able to carry on conversation without competing noise. Priced appropriately for area and food quality and portion size.

We ended up here by accident but it was a great accident. We love the old school bar /restaurant atmosphere. We had a great lunch and the waitress was great and check on us often. I had the Crab & artichoke Alfredo which was very good. This is a short review because I cant find anything bad to say about the restaurant what so ever. If you are in Grants Pass OR try this place worth the stop.

Best halibut fish and chips ever. The cook understands how hot the oil needs to be to make sure the fish is not oily. I ate with fingers and didn’t have to wipe! Fresh, fresh, fresh. And the cabbage salad is not over mayo’d. Nice job. Glad they keep good beers on tap. Love the room and all the vintage taps.

Best hamburgers in town. Relaxed atmosphere with music sometimes. At times it can be a bit loud. Always great food and service.

I went for lunch. I asked what they were known for. They said fish tacos. I ordered two. I ate one. They are awful. I can’t imagine anyone actually liking those poorly crafted greasy packets of fish. Side of canned salsa and bland beans. No thanks. The service is ok(at the bar) there seems to be a good beer selection and a cool vibe… I would however NEVER choose to eat here again.

The food was great. The beer bread was amazing. The Malibu Barbie cocktail I got was delicious too but the service SUCKED. But I would go back because of the food. Yum!

A bit touristy, a bit local. Excellent rotating taps of local and regional beers. Super creamy chowder, really more of a bisque than a chowder if you want to be picky. Teenagers loved the fried seafood choices. Catch of day was decent but the side veggies were all fresh and not cooked into mush! Surprised that credit cards were taken via a Square reader on a mobile phone… for such an established place.

Clam chowder was thick like wet concrete, not the way I like it. Service was great, ordered their happy hour special, oysters, some of the biggest fattest oysters I have ever eaten. Next time I am in Grants Pass I will definitely eat there again.

My wife and I are visiting from out of town and we found this little gem by accident. It’s tucked away off the main street next to an ice cream shop. We loved the environment. The place has a feeling of being a hometown favorite and the servers seemed to know everyone eating there. The crazy thing is that they seemed to know us and we live a thousand miles away! It was a hot day so we both started off with a cold adult beverage. The beer selection is awesome(and constantly rotating). I like trying new beers so I went with something local. If you don’t like beer they have good mixed drinks too. My wife had a skinny margarita. The food was solid too. Anything with their beer batter was good particularly their prawns. Both of our entrees were on point and went perfect with our cold adult beverages. We’re only in town for a few days but we definitely plan on going back before we leave. We highly recommend this place to any out of state folks as well as locals!

Date visited: March 28, 2015 Excellent food, unique atmosphere, live music, and excellent selection of beverages! After a short road-trip north at a whim we dropped into Grants Pass to find something to eat — and perfect timing as the Laughing Clam was just getting ready to be real busy because the music was starting. We were promptly seated within view of the band, which added to the ambiance of the setting which made my 7 y/o happy to have something to entertain her other than her parents — listed as an ale house we were comfortable classifying this as a family establishment as the staff and ambiance is appropriate for the young ones, more of a family restaurant than some online reviews give it. The menu has a wide variety of foods and beverages which made deciding what to have all the more difficult — especially the large variety of brews on tap! My wife chose the«Wild About Szechuan» salad with shrimp — exquisite! I had the«Baja Marimba Fish Tacos» with black beans — equally as amazing! And for the young one, Pita Pizza and Chicken Strips, both better than your average fare! The Bloody Mary and the Mango Martini both were great and ability to try multiple local fresh brews from the tap icing on the cake! Overall our visit to the Laughing Clam was more than exceptional — great, friendly service throughout our meal(even when very busy), delicious food, and excellent beverages! A must-try when in the area!

Definitely an alehouse with character! Great food. Good prices. Nice people! All the things I look for when checking out a new restaurant. I had«The Captain’s Clam Strips», which were plump and flavorful — not the usual dried out pieces of chewy, heavily-battered strips typically found when you order clam strips.

Overall very nice dining experience. Neat water glasses and nice decorative place. Would have given 5 stars but we were never told that our sides would cost an additional $ 2 per plate… Nor did it say on the menu that there was an extra cost for the sides with the sandwiches. No big deal but still a little annoying.

Confession: I’m a salad snob. The kind that turns her nose up at iceburg lettuce and premixed greens — ya know, the kind with shredded carrots and bits of red cabbage. Methinks not. Easily seeing that Laughing Clam was more on the dive bar side(which I like), I knew scoring a killer salad was fairly unlikely. It’s true, the greens and options were nothing to write home about but there were definitely some other factors that this bar restaurant had going for it on a Saturday night. One: live music. The kind that makes you want to drink more and stay forever. I’ll gladly welcome some tunes with my eats any day. Wine sold by the carafe: slightly unexpected given the setting but I had to factor in that California was only a wink away and Oregon holds its own when it comes to vino. My travel companion(dad), wasn’t super keen on my dry selection so I ended downing it by myself. Good news is, it was very budget-friendly. The overall setting of Laughing Clam is both casual and inviting with brick walls, high ceilings and what seemed to be a very local clientele. I would visit again but mostly for the wine and music :)
