This is one of my favorite local BBQ spots, I definitely recommend Hog Wild when it’s an option(due to limited hours)

My go to for the best BBQ in western NC! And I have to drive passed JD’s to get there! Our family prefers this BBQ. I. Have used them for catering as well for multiple meetings, I’ve had them deliver and I’ve done pickups, consummate professionals either way!

Cute, quaint country restaurant. Very fresh meat… they smoke it on location. Cheap prices. Wish there was a little more meat on the sandwiches.

My mom and stopped by here for lunch. I’ve eaten takeout from here a couple times and each time was good! On this occasion we dined in. We both ordered the lunch BBQ sandwich with the roasted potatoes as a side(delicious!!) The BBQ is great– tasty and lean! There are a variety of sauce options as well: sweet, spicy, etc. For dessert my mom and I shared a decadent chocolate chunk brownie-amazing! The service was quick and helpful and the restaurant was very clean.

Barbecue fans from either the Lexington or Eastern NC camps will be more likely to find happiness here than any other place I’ve been in Caldwell County. It’s pretty good, and also pretty popular, packed with takeout waits at dinner time(and a very small dining area is often full). They have a vinegar sauce that is somewhat like Eastern, but not as spicy as some, and a «spicy» sauce that is a little bit more tomato-ey.

What am I doing in the middle of North Carolina? Why am I in this barbecue restaurant wearing a suit and looking very out of place? I hadn’t planned to visit this joint but I’m glad I did. Was in town for a funeral which took place over the lunch hour. I was starving and driving up and down the roads looking for something to eat. Then, out of nowhere, God delivered a barbecue restaurant, almost on the banks of the great Catawba River. It was divine barbecue intervention. Like the angles came down from heaven saying«here is Q for your bereaved and hungry self. Enjoy my child.» I literally had minutes to devour my food because of my tight schedule. No time to look over the menu much, so I just ordered a chopped pork sandwich. It was gone in 60 seconds. When you’re hungry, any Q tastes good, and this one was no exception. The meat itself tasted almost like eastern NC style. Seems like they mixed it with a touch of vinegar in the kitchen but not too much. Just enough to keep the finely chopped Q moist. I didn’t taste any smoke flavor. If there was, it was faint. The sauce was similar to Lexington style. It was red vinegar sauce with more heat that I expected. It went well with the sandwich. They also have two other sauces that I didn’t care for and frankly took away from the experience. NC Q joints shouldn’t offer tons of sauce. But that’s just me. The service was friendly and the food came out fast. I wish I could have tried more but I was impressed otherwise. The décor was also cool. I appreciated the personally autographed pictures of Roscoe P Coltrane, Daisey Duke and Enos Strate. Yeah, Bo and Luke would have rounded out the collection. Oh well. They’d get four stars if I tasted smoke. But don’t let my three stars keep you from this place. It is pretty good.
