The best shop in town! If you are new to comics they can suggest things to read and if you’re not new to comics they can talk to you about what you do read! It’s a great place to be a part of!

Collectors comics is one of those places that can change your life, or at least it was. In the comic boom that was the 90s Tardys had multiple locations. In 8th grade I traded a copy of punisher war journal 6 for homework answers. It was a two part story and I need to know if Frank Castle would survive his clash with Wolverine. So, my mom took me to Collectors Corner in Town and Country mall. It was a hole in the wall but at 14 I was amazed, I got the wrong issue of war journal(5) and didn’t realize it until I got home. I had go back, this started frequent trips to collectors corner. Soon I had to get a job to support my comic habit. The life changing didn’t come until, after they closed the town and country location or I got my license, I can’t remember which. But during that time Tardy had a guy named Chris that worked at the Eastern store and he helped make me the person I am today. I started out reading straight superhero fare and Chris would suggest edgy indie comics like the crow, hate, 8 ball, peepshow, madman and«main stream» stuff the killing joke, or watchmen. I would explain that I had limited funds and couldn’t buy his suggestion because I needed to get ghost rider #1 with chrome holographic die-cut 3d cover. Chris would always say«take read it, if you like it pay for it next week». I never brought back any of his suggestions and I always paid for them. These books introduced me to the larger world, different ways of thinking, and the art of good storytelling as much as any of the novels I read through out high school. In short Chris treated my like an adult and expected me to think like one. Because of his passion not for comics but good stories, I fell in love with stories and became an English teacher. Every Friday in my classes we read a comic. I would not be the person I am today without Chris and Collectors Corner. I moved south of GR after I got married, so I don’t make it to collectors much any more. However, it will always be a special place to me.

Tardy’s is hands down, the best comic store in town. Great owners and great selection. They really appreciate their customers and will bend over backwards practically to make sure you leave happy. I have been going there over a year now and have stopped going to any of the other comic stores in town. Support local business and quit buying your comics online. These guys deserve the business and will make sure you get what you want every time. I will be a customer for life
