Since Aviator Air, the FBO and flight school doesn’t have its own Unilocal page, I shall Unilocal on the airport page. After changing flight schools 2 times due to bad service, bad airplanes, and bad instruction, my friend told me to give Aviator Air a shot. This place is awesome. From the moment I walked in, everybody was helpful and friendly. From the line boys pulling out my plane to them giving me a call when the plane decided it didn’t want to fly that day, they took care of me like I was their #1 priority. They also have some of the most reasonable aircraft rental rates in town. If you take lessons from Aviator Air, be sure to ask for instructor Thomas Wheeler. This man is the best instructor I have encountered in my 2 years of flying. He simplifies everything down so even a novice can learn how to fly safely and efficiently. He is a retired airline captain who has earned the recommendation of not just me, but a lot of the pilots in the area.

Great FBO! Aviator Air is an excellent flight school with great instructors. They have some of the best rental planes in the DFW area. Late model 172’s equipped with G1000, Piper Arrow, Tecnam sport plane, Beech Twin and Piper Super-cub. Can train part 141 or part 61. Utilize Cessna/King course curriculum which lays coursework out in a plan/strategy that will get your certificates/ratings in a timely manner at minimum flight hours. They have a Redbird Flight Simulator which will save you time and $$ on your IFR rating. I used them to get my instrument rating and enjoyed the experience and was able to move at the pace that I wanted to and get finished up quickly at FAA minimum required flight hours for the rating. The airport and tower are great as well. Not as much traffic as Arlington and Addison where you will spend $$ sitting on taxiway with engine running waiting for traffic to take off and land. I did some flight training out of Addison prior to going to Grand Prairie and experienced a few waits of 15 min holding short for takeoff and one that was over 30 minutes. When you are trying to flight train on a budget this is important because you are getting charged airplane rental for every minute that engine is on. I flew over 30 hours out of KGPM and rarely had hold short to wait for traffic and never over 5 min wait on the rare occasion I did. Do yourself a favor if you are planning to do some flight training and consider Aviator Air. I researched for quite awhile and found them to be the best choice for me personally in the DFW metroplex. Also Mixed Up Burgers in the general area makes several different great burgers. My personal favorite is «The Jethro». Put it on your list for hundred dollar hamburger fly-in.

This is how an airport/FBO should be. The folks at aviator air will take great care of you, grab an awesome meal at the burger place inside, and the atmosphere is like a nice small town where youre a regular after two visits and everyone knows your name. Not overly busy, but not a ghost town.

Nice little airport with full services. Not full of hot-shot jet jockeys and not too redneck, either.
