Good Food Nice People Went there today. Pineapple Corn Tamale was an acquired taste. Didn’t like it too much but everything else was really good.

I went back and had another great time. I had the Colorado burrito and it was very very good! I think all there food is very high quality and they have good service too! This place has the best Menudo in town. Tried them all and by far the best portion, flavor, and quality. I’m definitely going back again and again!

I stopped here for lunch and was hoping for some good, authentic Mexican… something I cannot find where I live in Iowa. I ordered shredded chicken in corn enchiladas with mole sauce. The complimentary chips and salsa were below average. The salsa was very watery and just ok. The chicken enchiladas with mole sauce were okay. Not bad, but not great either. The accompanying refried beans and Mexican rice could have been from any other Mexican restaurant. Just average. I would return to Aztecas but would also look around to see if there is another Mexican restaurant that is better.

These margaritas suck!!! Do not order margs unless you like 300+ calories of sugar and ice and no liquor. STOREBOUGHTTORTILLAS. Watery salsa. Couldn’t even finish my plate. Gross. Can’t believe ppl pay these prices to eat this. Yuck.

Delicious traditional Mexican Food. Absolutely worth the price! The owner was our waiter and he is an extremely nice guy who is very proud of his food. Classy restaurant off the beaten path. A definite must visit when in Grand Junction.

I went to Azteca hoping that it would be something special, but instead I found the same old Mexican restaurant that anybody can find anywhere else in the USA. The food is okay, but it tastes exactly the same as the last Mexican joint I was at somewhere else. One suggestion that I think makes an OK Mexican café something a little more special is … handmade corn and flour tortillas. Give it a try Azteca. Just say’n Cheue

Great food! Great service! My only complaint… there were some pieces of hamburger(cooked) in my glass of iced tea, but they replaced it.

Friendly service. Clean restaurant. Good for the family. Casual. I had the chicken fajita. It was delicious but I have had better tasting chicken.

Very, very dissatisfied! Food was mediocre but the worst thing was how much they charged for vegetarian sides that we put together to try to make a dish. $ 3 for literally 3 slices of avocado(about ¼ of an avocado), $ 2 for a tiny handful of iceberg lettuce, $ 2 for about 1⁄3 c. Onions and cilantro and the most ridiculously small amount of beans for an entrée… come on people, we don’t eat the expensive cheeses or meats, give us a break! Service was ok, not overly friendly but they didn’t mess up our order. Burritos were big.

On the drive from Vail to Telluride, GJ sounded like a perfect place to grab lunch. We jumped on Unilocal!to help us find a nice, local Mexican spot. Azteca’s became the choice. I warned my wife that this Mexican food will likely be different than what we are used to in Texas. She paid no heed and ordered the usual beef fajitas. She hated them… and they were unusual… bright red in color! And really crunchy, too. I had the combo plate and it was all good. Overall, I was shocked at the prices. our meal for 2(no drinks) was almost $ 40 before tip. Pretty much everything was very expensive, even tho this place is a small family owned spot run from a small, old building. It didn’t make sense. Overall… avoid the fajitas, bring an extra $ 20 over what you normally pay for lunch, brush up on your espanol, and enjoy the cute artwork painted on the back of the booths.

Wow. I had huge hopes reading the review for this place. My food was terrible. The cheese is velveeta, at best. There is no spice at all. I got the enchilada suizas. Bland bland bland.

I’ve been to both locations several times now, delicious food and remarkably friendly service. Probably the best tortilla soup I’ve ever had. And — the breakfast is definitely worth waking up for. Really not much more to say, just a solid place to go and enjoy delicious Mexican food.

Aztecas was a Unilocal find and it was very good! Stopped here after a 770 mile drive from Omaha NE enroute to CA. The service was exceptional all around. Started with chips and salsa. I would rate them about a 3.5. Salsa was a little soupy for my taste and the chips were a little thick. On the advice of my server I ordered the tacos Supremo and he was spot on. They were nothing short of fabulous. 4 tacos covered in a delicious red sauce, lettuce, pico and fresh sliced avocados. Meal also included rice and beans. I definitely would eat here again. The only thing keeping me from giving a solid 5 stars was the salsa and chips which I consider foundational at a Mexican restaurant.

My boyfriend and I came here on our way from Salt Lake City to Denver. We were looking for a convenient spot in Grand Junction, and although this place was a little ways off the highway, it was definitely worth it. We have eaten out in 49 states, and we seem to have this luck of always arriving at a restaurant just before the rush. When we entered Aztecas, there were maybe three other parties eating there, but shortly, a vast array of others began arriving, and soon the entire place was filling up. When our food arrived, we could see why it was so popular. Everything was steaming hot, and the portions were more than ample. The ingredients were of decent quality, and the burrito soon washed away any weariness from the road. I would definitely return here. Everything was great!

We stopped in the wilds of Grand Junction on the way to Utah, and needed a late lunch. Unilocal came up with Aztecas, off we went. The restaurant is attractive and clean, and service was very good. The salsa that came with our chips was actually spicy, and my six year old even ate it. Wonder of wonders. I got a Guapo Burrito, a big heavy mess of food smothered in cheese and non-spicy sauce, with an ounce of very good guacamole thrown in. My wife’s tacos were good, if pedestrian and a bit anglo. We’re used to basic Mexican tacos with a bit of onion and cilantro on top. My daughter’s grilled cheese was grilled cheese, and fries are fries. The total came to $ 21 + tip, which is the price these days I guess. All in all, a decent stop on the way to wherever you’re headed. It would have been great if they’d had fresh aguas frescas, but I only saw horchata and Jarritos on the menu. If you’re hungry for non chain food, you could do worse.

We tried this location a few weeks ago for breakfast, after talking with the owner at his second location on Broadway in the Redlands area of town. My wife had the Eggs Benedict, and it was very good. Our daughter, 16 yrs old, had the French Toast, and could not finish it all as it was 4 halves of cinnamon bread with 2 eggs and home fries. It was very tasty, but you better be hungry. I had the Breakfast Burrito and it was huge as well. It was stuffed with 2 scrambled eggs, home fries, sausage, peppers and onions, wrapped in a large flour tortilla and smothered with green chili sauce. It was good, but the chili needed a bit more flavor as it was a little flat tasting. I’m sure it was just a mild batch compared to the version at the Redlands location, which is usually very tasty. We normally visit the Redlands location once a week, for the last two years, and have never had a meal we weren’t impressed with. The portions are huge, and the price it reasonable for what you get. The place is spotless, including the restrooms and the kitchen. The staff is very attentive and friendly, and know the menu inside out. They will customize your meal any way you like.

Everyone was really polite and the service was really quick as well. The most important to me was the food. The food was soooooo good! Chile rellenos were awesome. The tacos al pastor was absolutely amazing! Wish I lived closer to Grand Junction! Not to mention the horchata was the real deal. Go here!!!

Very friendly staff. They have very good Mexican food and will accomodate special requests. If you want your order spicier, just ask. The Aztecas burrito is very large and is filled with pork carnitas, rice, beans, cheese and topped with green tomatillo sauce. Very tasty and filling. The enchiladas are large and offer many filling and sauce choices. Most entrees are served on very hot, heated plates.

This place is the worst. My in-laws love it(to my surprise, some Unilocalers are big fans too) so we’ve been many times; each time I’ve tried something new in hopes of landing a good meal, and it’s never happened. Everything from the salsa, to the meat, and sauces is so bland and at times soggy. I once requested they make my dish spicy(trying to evoke any flavor this place may secretly have) and it came out with a bright green jalapeño extract drizzled on top. Uh, not really what I had it mind, and sorry I even asked. BLAH. It’s just not good Mexican food. GOTOLEON’S! You can give me large portions and a smiling server(which we’ve always gotten), but it’s all moot when the food sucks.

This family owned Mexican restaurant always delivers great meals with huge portions. I’ve eaten ¾ of the menu and never had a bad meal. Service is always very friendly. Not fine dining, but dining at it’s finest for lunch or for a family dinner.
