The Mountain Division Trail is a small part of the larger Sebago to the Sea Trail system. I am reviewing 6 miles of paved trail. This trail has many trail heads and crosses through many towns. We usually access the paved area either at Gambo Field in Windham or at Shaw Park in Gorham. The paved trail, as well as much of the larger system itself, runs along side an exempt train track. This is a multi-use trail so you will find joggers, walkers, dog walkers(both on and off leash) as well as cyclist using this trail. They are very good about maintaining the trail and marking hazards, like potholes, with spray paint. However, the trail has some areas where it is sandy or has many pine needles and pine cones. How dare you mother nature! You will also come upon many road crossings that you will need to stop and look before crossing. Generally you do not have the ability to see in either direction until you are at the crossing itself. The busiest part of the paved trail is the section between Gambo and Shaw where most of the walkers use that section to make a loop between the two parks. It is a nice trail to get out and get a quick ride in on a bike.
