Great place to stop on the way from Seattle down to Oregon. We only tried pizza but it was great!

This is an exceptional restaurant. The staff are wonderful and the food is consistently excellent. The menu varies seasonally and highlights French and Spanish cuisines. If you’re in Goldendale, or even just driving through, this is a must.

Horrible, half the menu they didn’t have. Not for the people looking for a normal lunch. Very strange menu that seems to me like they through a bunch of things together. Do not go by their website or brochure menu is never the same and they don’t care it’s not updated. Over-priced for the quality of food. Last and only time coming here.

We hired The Glass Onion to cater our wedding. They did an amazing job. Matt and Maren(who also did our photography & is none the less amazing) were so easy to work with and were true to their word. They set up an appetizer station that all our guests were raving about. For our dinner we did prime rib or salmon, I got both(; and they were perfect! I highly recommend them for your event.

My husband and I are very picky eaters. He is a super strict vegetarian and I am a loose vegetarian. Both of us found good things to eat. He had the watermelon salad, and the meze plate. I had the gnocchi appetizer, the angel hair pasta and the sucatash side. I also had a lemonade. Everything was good, the angel hair pasta was my favorite, for my husband it would be the watermelon salad. The price was reasonable for two people. Tips: 1) call ahead and make a reservation. I’m sure it’s not always necessary, but on the day we went there were two huge parties one with 17 people and another with twenty. 2) there’s only 3 parking spaces, so parking might be a challenge if you go during peak time. We got the last spot and we arrived at 6pm.

Great food. Try the cauliflower appetizer. Strawberry shortcake dessert was great too. Pasta dish could have some salt. Good selection for kids in the kids menu. Diana B, provided great service.

Glass Onion Goldendale WA is the best restaurant in the Gorge this side of Portland/Vancouver. We’ve been coming for their dinner menu but last month our grandson wanted pizza. In his words«best pizza he has ever eaten». At only 11 he has had pizza from Virginia to Florida to Seattle so he knows what he likes. Me at 69 has had it from Sicily to Rome to NY to LA and in between. It is both the best in the Gorge and the most reasonably priced. We drive a half hour to enjoy

Great foods and vibes! Definitely worth exiting off the freeway for. I got the Pacific fish(salmon) and the soup of the day, which was tomato and pesto. Both were excellent. Prices are good and service is great. We got free refills on coffee and soda, which is not so common these days but awesome when it happens.

If i could rate this place any lower i would, out of everything on the menu, even special as explained when seated. Waitress was a sourpuss, would eat at a Shell Gas Station before coning back.

What an absolute waste of time… I’d rather have just kept on to the wineries to the east than miss them due to the time/food wasted here

Very great food! We started with the Caesar salad, it’s a must, the proportions are huge! Most people will be able to split the small portion for a starter. It’s one of the best Caesar salads I have had. For an entrée I had the special, brisket with coleslaw. If you were to order it, you might want to order the BBQ sauce on the side because it may be over whelming. Although it was very tasty, I wish there was more cole slaw though. As for the service, they were nice, but never came to refill our water, and we didn’t feel very welcomed. I suggest to make a reservation because there are many locals who eat here and they have reservations.

Just flat out excellent! Even the simplest items were the best ingredients made with care. The chicken on my Caesar salad was incredible. And the fried sesame cauliflower was an unexpected delight. Best off the map find on our trip from Roslyn WA to Bend OR that we could have asked for.

Too fancy for my taste, for this town. Had the pork belly pasta. The sauce had a decent flavor but the pork belly needed to be cooked more it was like chewing rubber. Their mashed potatoes were AHMAZING! Friendly service, kinda pricey. Doubt I’ll be back. My family seems to be to casual for this restaurant.

We stopped here on our way back to Portland from north Washington, and it was a rare and exquisite experience. If you happen to be the least of hungry, use it as an excuse to leave the high way and stop here.

We live very close to the Glass Onion, which is a dangerous thing. Four of us went on a Saturday night in January and it was very empty. I think there were maybe 8 customers total(including us), which is too bad because the food was phenomenal. My sister and I got the special, the smoked brisket. Hers came with a side of whipped potatoes, and I chose bacon braised root vegetables for mine. Our portions of brisket were huge. I weighed my leftovers at home, and I think I must’ve received 12 oz of brisket, at least. I tried her whipped potatoes, they were fluffy and creamy. My root vegetables were also very good. My husband got the rib eye steak and crispy potatoes. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and his fries were just right, not too done, not too soft. My brother in law got the carnitas tacos, and I think his only complaint was that there weren’t more tacos, because the two he received were delicious. Dessert was the shining star, though. We all split an order of the fried doughnuts, and they were to die for. The interior melted in my mouth and the cinnamon cream accompaniment was absolutely perfect.

This is one of the best restaurants in the Columbia River Gorge area, obviously run by a chef who takes his or her art seriously. I usually order a meat dish, typically a steak along with sides like mash potatoes and the ceasar salad. The meals are always good. The caesar salad is the best in the Gorge. I used to think the Baldwin’s was the best(and it’s pretty good) but after I tried the ceasar salad at the Glass Onion that became the clear best. It’s just simply delicious. The Gorge is blessed to have this restaurant.

Great gem in Goldendale! I was up from San Francisco visiting my parents in Moro, OR and we treated to a great dinner at the Glass Onion. The menu is remarkably diverse without having a laundry list of entrees. Our table was able to order smoked ribs and ribeye steak for the gentlemen and a curry and risotto cakes for the ladies. We started with 6 crispy and flavorful Korean wings. Very well prepared and just the right amount of spice. Dinner was equally impressive. The ribs were tender and smoky, served with a heaping pile of fluffy mashed potatoes. The ribeye steaks were cooked perfectly with a nice char on the outside and tender on the inside. For $ 16 it was a great steak with a very good sauce and served with piping hot French fries. The curry was spicy, warm, and aromatic. The risotto cakes were prepared well, savory, and plated very nicely. This local restaurant served a phenomenal meal that we would go to any night of the week! The wine and beer selection is done well, with lots of local wines from Maryhill Winery and Dechutes Brewery. Didn’t have room for dessert but would have loved to try the doughnuts. Wishing continued success to the Glass Onion and we will be coming by any time we are driving through the Gorge, in Goldendale, or visiting Wasco or Sherman County.

Nice and cute restaurant. Very nice and good service. The watermelon salad and grilled peaches with ricotta were good and refreshing. The Risotto cakes were crunchy and a bit oily. I did enjoy them. I should have had a white wine with it. I am disappointed with their version of a ceasar salad. I wanted to ask for an egg, anchovies, and lemons. I do recommend Glass Onion, but don’t expect a true ceasar salad.

This place would get 3.5 to 4.0 stars if they were in a bigger city(like Portland), but for little old Goldendale to have such a nice dining option, everyone wins! I went on a Thursday night in summer and it was hopping. Mostly locals(individuals, 2-tops &4-tops). Indoor seating with a few outdoor tables on the porch — a nice option if the wind not howling or the temps too high/low. Portions are not skimpy and the prices are good. For example, potato and cod starter at $ 9, [not so] small Caesar salad at $ 7, and a rib eye steak in a veal reduction sauce topped with a couple of onion rings at a paltry $ 15. Wine prices good as well, with solid local by-the-glass options from the likes of Domanie Poullion at $ 7 and with most bottles in the $ 25 – 50 range(producers included the aforementioned DP, Syncline and Cor Cellars. Would I drive from Hood River or Portland just to go here? No. But if I were in the Dalles, Maryhill, or passing through Goldendale on Highway 97, I’d definitely make it a point to stop and eat lunch or dinner at this shining star in an otherwise pretty sleepy little town.

Before heading the the Maryhill winery we needed to get ourselves a nice lunch. This place was recommended by a local as one of the best places in town. The reviews showed five stars so we decided it must be good. I was so impressed by the ambiance and the food of this little restaurant! We walked in around 2:00pm for a late lunch and were happy to see they were open. Being that we were the only people there made me a little nervous but it was a little late. We ordered an Arnold Palmer and a glass of wine. Both refreshing. Instead of going for the main courses we decided to get a few starters and share. The gnocchi was hand made. Served in a nice broth with parmesan shredded on top. Wild mushrooms served with large strips of moist bread. The third dish was fresh hot pita bread topped with wine infused cherries, water cress, cambazola cheese, and small drops of honey. This little dish was simply splendid. A wonderful spread of flavors. The tab was no wallet breaker. Reasonable priced meal. We asked to check out the dinner menu and it looked great! Most entrees were around $ 12-$ 14 max! Great prices and 5 star food makes this place a great win win.
