I know. It’s closed. Why write a review for a restaurant that no longer exists? Because it was just that good. It deserves an obituary. I don’t know when it passed away. Some time between when I moved away from Denver in April 2011 and Mark B’s simple statement of «Closed» on 11/18/2011. For three years, I lived about 6 blocks away. I would have eaten here every day if I could have afforded it. The Chicken Tikka Masala was just plain wonderful. The service was both friendly and professional(meaning squared-away). It is my hope that the family who ran this place just moved to a better location. Truly a place to be missed.

I’ve been to Taj Masala multiple times, for both lunch and dinner. The lunch buffet is very average. I recommend for the a-la-carte dinner instead, because the food is much fresher and hot. The best part of Taj Masala is the excellent naan bread: It’s soft, hot and fresh! While the curries are made to your taste(mild, medium or hot), they lack a sort of zest. The quality of food can certainly improve. That said, the saag paneer is worth trying. The service is very mediocre. Wish they would be more welcoming and friendly toward customers. The décor and ambiance is very bland. You have to walk through a curtain to enter the eating area – not appealing to me. The smell from the kitchens it a bit overwhelming and can linger in clothes. While they need improvements, if you’re looking for basic Nepalese food in the Golden area, this might just work.

Stopped by for a quick lunch with a colleague last week. I had been meaning to try it for a while now. *Visual aesthetic: C Location and décor are rather bland. Think contemporary suburban strip mall on the outside — with highly visible signage — and fairly utilitarian décor on the inside — white walls, sparse adornments, etc. *Staff attentiveness: B– Our server was quiet but seemed non-hostile. However, given the number of my fellow patrons who were helping themselves to the lunch buffet, I would have thought that she might have been a little more on top of clearing plates, refilling drinks, and such. Who knows, maybe I was just having a high-maintenance day? *Food: B My colleague and I helped ourselves to the lunch buffet which is not terribly large, but certainly has a decent selection of vegetarian entrees — as well as a few choices for the carnivores of the world. The food wasn’t bad: neither terrific nor offensive, not«write home and tell your mom about it» tasty(perhaps a little salty), but enjoyable, if certainly not very memorable. The saag paneer was probably my favorite choice in the buffet. I also liked that the buffet included a cold section as well with salad(consisting of just plain iceberg lettuce), cucumbers, yogurt sauce, dessert and a few other things. *Price: B+ The lunch buffet is very affordable. Never saw a menu though to get a feel for how much made-to-order items might cost. I appreciate having vegetarian options in the Golden area. Taj Masala’s lunch buffet was decent, but not stellar. I’ll come back, but I want to try something other than the lunch buffet next time. 3 ½ stars for me…

Taj Masala is some of the best Indian /Nepali food outside of India & Nepal! Purna and his family(the owners) are hard working and friendly, and serve excellent food at very reasonable prices. I definitely enjoy going there as much as possible. Check it out… you won’t be disappointed! Try the veg or non-veg thali if you want to sample all they have to offer!

We come here all the time; my husband has been going here for at least 4 years. I think the dinner menu is a bit overpriced, but the lunch buffet is the best around.

I only went once for takeout and didn’t like it. I asked for extra hot, which had barely any flavor. The service was very slow. I asked for a menu and they stared at me like they were confused. I’ve had better. Probably wouldn’t go again.

We found this little nondescript Indian restaurant right off of Old Golden Road. The food is fantastically delicious. I’ve been a huge fan of curry since I lived in England(curry capital of the world) and here they have the many different varieties all with complex flavors and textures(and heat!) My favorite is the chicken tikka saag. They make huge packed to the seam samosas and crunchy onion bhajis. I always eat too much when we come here, you cannot help it! The lunch buffet is a great deal and has a good varitey. The interior is nothing much, no flash but lots of room. When you go at lunch they usually have the Bollywood music tv on, which is great to bop along to during your meal. I would suggest this place to anyone in the mood for great food with no fuss.
