My Experience with the USC Institute of Urology has been 100% positive as it was with its predecessor, Dr. William Reynolds. As a prostatectomy survivor of more than 20 years, i have a PSA check at the Institute every 3 months and have moved from daily capsule doses of casodex and tomaxafin to a three month injected does of Nupron– easier on the pocketbook and mental enxiety. Given the fact of bladder bleeding, and the result of post-prostate radiation and which same day cystoscopy surgery did not abate, the Institute recommended me to the Hyperbaric Center in Glendale Adventist Hospital for six weeks of treatment. HUZZAH! No more bleeding. And finally, but more importantly, the support staff is not only courteous and friendly but very professional and efficient. I am most appreciative of the work of the Institute. Edward J. Kormondy, PhD, Chancellor Emeritus, University of Hawai’i-Hilo

OMG. USC apparently purchased William Reynold’s practice and I recommend you RUN as fast as you can from it! I called the office with symptoms of a bladder infection on Wednesday, after being in pain for two days. The first problem was I had to go out of the office for a urine test and culture. Dr. Reynolds used to do this work in-office. I went to the USC clinic downstairs. The preliminary results would be ready the following day, but the culture not until Monday! MONDAY! It was about noon and the culture takes 48 hours. When I called for the preliminary results, the doctor didn’t have them, and wanted to wait for the culture anyway. I still spent 30 minutes going back and forth between the doctor’s office and the lab for this. Fortunately, the culture was ready in 48 hours and it was positive, and the nurse assured me that she’d have a prescription called into my pharmacy by 4:30 on Friday. It didn’t happen!!! I’ve been in pain for four days and I freaked out! I called the office. The answering service said Dr. Nguyen was not on call and she could put me through to another doctor. That would do me no good because he wouldn’t know the results of the culture. The service said the back line was closed. No way to contact Nguyen. I finally called another number for USC and they were able to get in touch with Nguyen. The nurse was working on my prescription and she’d have it called in shortly. I was a patient of Dr. Reynolds for many years and I’m sorry to see that he retired. He was a very good doctor and I know his patients will miss him. The staff have been very friendly and nice, but I am very disillusioned with the USC protocols. Not what I’d expect from this facility.
