Originally wanted to go to Raffis but there was a huge wait there. So i found this place on Unilocal and read the reviews. We ended up going here. First & last time. I ordered the«beef» koobideh plate, but when it came it tasted like lamb. I dont like lamb cause it makes me sick. We even asked the girl and she said it was beef. I complained and they brought a new plate of chicken kabob. Tasted great however it was undercooked and watery on the inside. I give this place 2 stars cause the staff was friendly and dealt with my complaints in a kind way.

I’ve been going to this restaurant since I was still in college and that’s like 25 years or more ago and now it’s one of my children’ favorite restaurant. The food is great — Koobideh, Bareg kebab and the beef shish kebab — those are our usual order. The price has not changed a lot which is very reasonable when you compare with the portion. Been to all three locations but Glendale is our favorite. The workers have worked there for decades and they are very friendly!

i ordered here because the Raffi’s place had 1.5 hours wait. I ordered take out, it got ready very fast but the food was horrible! the chicken and meat kabobs were both pre-cooked and not barbecued which defeats the purpose. I will never go back here since this is the 2nd time i’m having a bad experience with them, 5 – 6 years apart!

Glendale Shamshiri workers are rude. We called for more info for our christmas food. But the customer service was so rude.

This place is one of my favorite places for Armenian/Persian style bbq and food. Food is all very fresh and tastes amazing. The deserts are also out of this world too really fresh. The staff is also awesome too, very friendly staff and always attentive. I recommend this place to everyone.

The best beef koobideh time and time again. Great quality and full seasoned flavor! The Lubia Polo is unsurpassed. Heaven!

I was doing a search for Persian food in Glendale because I didn’t want to go to Raffi’s. Shamshiri came up as a location close to my office so I made a beeline to the restaurant. It’s in an interesting shopping/business center. They have a pretty big outdoor seating area and the staff is very attentive. I ordered the following: Zereshek Polo with Beef Koobideh lunch($ 11.50) — The lunch came with a soup or salad so I got the soup. It was very good. The koobideh was juicy and flavorful. The portions were very good since it was a lunch special. I love the Zereshek polo, I love the tartness of the barberries. I’m looking forward to going again.

If you like eating cheap meat that is laced with dangerous chemical tenderizers, than please, go ahead and eat here. They should be closed down for numerous reasons and the tenderizer issue is just one of many. They are constantly empty and only get busy once in a while. I would know this, my office is right next door. The people that work here have zero sense of customer service and their food does not do anything special for you to forgive their unprofessional careless attitude. I worked in the same building plaza and I have only ate here once. That was the first and last time. I don’t know a single person form the whole building that eats at this ratchet joint. The only customers they have are unsuspecting first time visitors. I recommend this place be closed down and be replaced with a nice Armenian BBQ restaurant that knows how to make BBQ

I always order and go to this restaurant, awesome service and food, I recommend the yogurt cucumber dip and chicken barg! Although today I ordered delivery and I found a bone in chicken barg.

Note that I have never visited this restaurant. I have only had their lunch take out, and someone else has always pick it up for me. Working in the area, this is a favorite in my office when it comes time to picking what to order. I always get the chicken kebab. It’s a great lunchtime meal, not too heavy and won’t make me sleepy in the afternoon at work. — Chicken: my favorite part of the meal. Very juicy and love the flavor — Rice: mix of white/yellow. Tasty with a hint of flavor — Side of salad: my least favorite part of the meal, but maybe it’s because I don’t like salads in general. Good if you have this with a chicken for a low carb lunch

I came here with some co-workers for dinner. The restaurant is hard to find because it is tucked away inside a shopping plaza on the Southeast corner of Central and Stocker. The servers were really nice and accommodated our large group on short notice. I ordered the Koobideh. The meat was very flavorful, but it was also very dry. The basmati saffron rice and grilled tomato were both pretty good though. The house doogh(yogurt drink) wasn’t very good either according to some of my co-workers. I have a lot of Persian friends and we eat out at Persian restaurants all the time, and this restaurant just wasn’t memorable. In my opinion, the best Persian restaurant in Los Angeles is just down the street at Raffi’s. They both cost about the same but I prefer Raffi’s.

Freaken Amazing! We order this like every weekend & I live so close that they deliver right to my doorstep. I live in glendale & so far this is the best middle eastern restaurant I’ve been to… everything is so good. My only wish is that they would put some more garlic in the hummus lol. I could eat this everyday but then I’d probably look like a rolley polley or a baby piggie.

It’s HARD finding good Persian food. A lot of places claim to be authentic, bit something always ruins it. This place has some good authentic food! Everything from the pita to the rice is on point. My shish kabob was beautiful and made me happy. Love never been to this location before, but it holds to the Shamshiri name. I will have to come back very soon!

I’ve been a customer of Shashiri Restaurant for about 23 years and they have great Persian food. DETAILS: Valentine’s Day Lunch-2/14/15 Back in the day when I was dating my husband he brought me to Shamshiri Restaurant and that was my first introduction to Persian food. I would have to say I’ve always loved Persian food since then. Now that we’ve been married for umpteen years I am lucky to eat home cooked Persian food that my husband usually cooks. When my mother-in-law was alive she would invite us to lunch on the weekends and she was an amazing cook. That’s how my husband learned to cook. I learned how to make a few stews myself like Fesenjan and Zaresk Pollo, but my husband prepares all the rest of the stews and his famous lamb(koobideh) kabobs. FOOD: 4⁄5STARS I ordered the Fesenjan which is a stew made with chicken in a walnut and pomegranate sauce purée and served with basmati rice. I really like this stew in general because it has this sweet and sour thing going on. It was very good, but I usually just use chicken breasts in my own stew and this had a thigh with a breast which I’m not a big fan of. When I make Fesenjan I use chicken breasts. My husband ordered the ground beef kabob which they call koobideh and he enjoyed that. Once again there was enough to take home for leftovers. We ordered baklava and tea for dessert and that was delicious. SERVICE: 5⁄5STARS The service was great and I cannot think of anything they could improve upon. ATMOSPHERE: 4⁄5STARS It’s very nice. They also have a nice outdoor seating area with a fountain. We opted to sit inside because it was warm. PARKING: 5⁄5STARS There is plenty of free parking in their lot which is always a good thing. RECOMMENDATION: I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood for some Persian food. Ask them if they have tadiq(the crispy rice from the bottom of the pan) and try some of that with Ghormeh Sabzi stew or Gheymeh Bademjan as an appetizer. My husband makes both of those stews with the rice at home and they are delicious.

Au contraire to other Unilocalers’ experiences, my friend and I got really great service and food here on an early Friday evening and we’re both Middle Eastern food aficionados. We ordered Chicken and Salmon kebab rice and the portions were gigantic. We both agreed that the meats were excellent and savory but the Salmon won hands down for its exceptional tenderness that melted in every bite. What a great Persian experience enhanced by very friendly staff.

Great all around! We ordered a variety of dishes and each one was better than the last. Mine was the lamb kabob, tasty with hints of mint in the meat. We ended with the saffron rose ice cream and«icy noodles,» very heavy on the rise flavor but we liked it! Service was fast and polite. Was a tad expensive, but I guess that is to be expected for Persian food. Will come back for the lunch specials.

It has been awhile since I dined at Shamshiri, but no matter how long it has or hasn’t been, Shanshiri is like that old friend you pick up where you left off. Which is great bc I introduced someone new to Shanshiri and he was impressed. He said he would gladly come here again. We both ordered the Cornish hen and it was moist and tasty. I also love the koobideh and cherry rice.

This is a small spot located in a shopping center w/a teeny parking lot in the back. The restaurant is clean & the service is pretty good. I’ve tried the shamshiri, chicken kabobs, & Cornish hen — all are very tasty. Overall this a great spot to get your fix if you’re craving basic Persian dishes.
