One of the most talented young chefs!!! The food is amazing and the creativity is off the charts. I certainly would recommend making a reservation(the PROPERWAYTODINE and the best way to not sound like a whiny little child when you complain that you cannot get a table). The staff is very accommodating and attentive. The depth of the menu is impressive and provides options for all customers. I have dined at some of the top restaurants in NYC and this certainly ranks among them. For those posting extremely negative reviews because you could not get a table or you thing you are a food critic; go down the block to 5-guys that should be up your alley!!! As for the rest of us — we will continue to enjoy the great food and service at Room 55!!!

One of the best places I had the privelege of dining a few times. Food is incredible and the service was great. The place is cozy with a limited dining area so I would recommend making a reservation. The place is always packed so is difficult to walk in and expect to be seated promptly. Unfortunately I live far out east or u would eat there every night. All in all you definitely won’t regret your visit to room 55.

Love the food — Chef is very talented. Gave an Ok review as I am disappointed in the wait staff. I’ve been a customer when things were quiet and in recent weeks came to have dinner. Turned away so rudely and with little hospitality. There is a way to tell folks you are busy… «It is so nice to see you, unfortunately, I can’t seat you now and it looks like it may be about 30 minutes — did you want to come back.» Something along those lines… not«we are full and it doesn’t look good for you.» A little training in that area and definitely a 4 or 5 star.

My husband and I dined here this past weekend. We had the sea scallops app and the pork belly app. Both were delicious but extremely small for the price. There were only two sea scallops on my plate. I ordered the beef Wellington and he had the duck entrée. His duck was delicious and my beef was good, too. I think the food here is very good but the portion sizes are way too small for the amount of money that they are charging. Unfortunately, I don’t think we will be coming back. It was a $ 136 check for two people and we left to go elsewhere for dessert.

I don’t quite understand the negative reviews posted about Room 55. I guess you can never please certain people. Anyway, if you are in Queens, Room 55 is a must for dinner. The service and staff is amazing and will not let you down.

The steak was so succulent and juicy. The potatoes were done perfectly and the vegetables were sautéed correctly. The desert trio were amazing. The only concern was the room was a Little cold. Other then that the dinner was Amazing.

Management is terrible atmosphere is terrible, and especially after watching this on tv and how they treated Trevor I would never ever support these rude backstabbers. They are undeserving of anyone’s business.

This is the place in town for amazing steak! I love it here because it’s very tender and juicy like you want it. Do you like New York Strip? They have it. They have a ton of it too! I can’t believe it! Ok. So I went here recently, and it was amazing. I ordered the New York Strip and I thought it was your average joe steak house. No not at all. The food is so great, I didn’t think I would stop eating it! I wish I could go more often, but, I don’t live in New York. I hope they continue to make delicious food, and don’t start making bad food!

Came in at 730 and was turned away because they were full. Hostess seemed really proud to do it because they were so popular. Though she said she had tables for 9, she didn’t offer them to us. Both my GF and I felt she was smug and un-inviting. The 2 minutes I spent in there, I noticed the décor was disheveled and somewhat dirty. Chef Vinny’s 15 minutes of fame will be up soon enough and you will have to stand on the strength of your referrals.

My wife and I ate here last night with our 2 year old son. We went early since it was NYE and had our kiddo with us. He is pretty well behaved in a restaurant, but I want to note how accommodating the staff was to our family. We were lucky enough to be there on a night that Chef Vinny, the owner was in the kitchen. To be fair, he might cook every night there, but we felt lucky nonetheless. Before the meat of the review, some housekeeping: The restaurant is intimate(a handful of tables), and we really liked how they maximized the space– the décor, lighting and music were perfect, in my opinion. We went all out and ordered our apps and entrees. Pre dinner bread was nothing special but it was warm and slightly toasted, which we appreciated. Apps: Champagne Mussels– they were good, not great. No unopened shells or overcooked in the bunch. I would order it again. For 11 bucks it’s a nice portion. Pork Belly: this was a nice portion with crispy skin, fresh dill, a cider reduction shallots and cubed Apple pieces. It was an absolutely delicious, balanced dish. Every ingredient had a purpose and each bite really sang if you got them all on your fork. Pasta Kayla: pulled chicken with dill cherry tomatoes, and pasta in a garlic cream sauce. We got an app portion and the baby dug it. We liked it as well and it’s a pretty nice size for 10 bucks. Entrees: pork shank with grits and pickled red cabbage. My wife went out on a limb(for her) and was not disappointed. Another very thoughtful dish and we finished every bite. I had the duck breast with mushroom risotto. This dish really worked and was cooked perfectly. Another clean plate. Dessert you pay 10 bucks and get to choose 3 desserts from about 6 – 7 choices. You get one of each and they were killer. Homemade peanut butter chocolate square was the standout, but everything was good. Drinks: seemed like a nice wine selection, and I liked that they brought me a selection of many teas after dinner. Our waitress/hostess was excellent. She met our needs without hovering and handled herself with aplomb working the whole dining room, taking calls, and dodging our son trying to take her order pad each time she passed, Chef Vinny came out and visited with each table, which was a nice touch. Overall, what made Room 55 so great was the obvious attention to detail in every aspect of the restaurant. We will be back!

I am never disappointed when I go here ! Although it is a bit pricy the food is fantastic and the service is great. You have to wait a bit for dessert because it is all made fresh to order so I suggest when eating your dinner you order your dessert… I have dined here multiple times and will go back… the salad and the steak is so amazing!

This is the epitome of the term«hidden gem.» When we were driving to this place on a Monday night, we initially thought we were going the wrong way because we were going towards a residential neighborhood. Trusting in our GPS app, we made it there without much trouble. If it weren’t for a few other patrons, we’d think the place was closed for the day as there was no host or waiter to be seen. We sat ourselves and shortly after the waiter came out serving the other tables as quickly as he could before greeting us. No long after we realized he was the only waiter on duty so from then on the service time was exceptionally long. Though this may sound like a negative review, the food at Room 55 is quite excellent. In particular, the bone marrow was delicious as it melted in our mouths. The portions are good enough for 2 ppl to share about 4 apps and an entrée and be satisfied. Not sure if this place updates their menu regularly but it’s definitely worth another visit just based on its menu alone. I’d want to make sure it’s on a Friday or Saturday though when they are likely to be staffed better for more timely service.

Loved it! Decided to give this spot a try and it was well worth it. Food was yummy. My personal favorite was the pasta Kayla and the grits delish!!! I have to say it felt like going to an intimate location where people are nice and pleasant. Our server was a gem she was so sweet and the right amount of attentiveness. I give them extra credit because they were a bit busy and they explained it to begin with but to be honest with you they were very efficient. The had run out of the soup but again excellent customer service because they apologized and gave us dessert to make up. Very much appreciated. I will definitely come again and recommend that you give it a try. You will not be disappointed and this coming from a foodie. If all goes well on my next visit I will upgrade them to 5 stars because consistency matters. Happy eating.

I saw this restaurant being promoted on Facebook and some of the dishes seemed very creative and the pictures looked amazing so my wife and I decided we were going to try it out. We went a month ago and I meant to do this ever since but just forgot. We decided to go with all small plates and we were not disappointed at all, we tried bone marrow for the first time and it was delicious but I wouldn’t say its my thing, the texture is just odd but the flavor is insanely good. We had the deconstructed wellington and that was an excellent take on the classic dish, And scallops in a cucumber yogurt sauce which was again delicious. I waited a few weeks so the rest escapes me except for the dessert which was a nice little sample of 3 different desserts. Overall a good time and a great meal.

This is the kind of place you really root for. Small, out of the way, interesting menu… but ultimately it missed nearly every mark. Anniversary dinner so let’s be a little frivilous. 3 appetizers and 2 entrees. That should give us a good sense of what they have to offer: bone marrow, mussels and deconstructed wellington(which is really just an excuse for not assembling a proper time consuming beef wellington), for main courses the hanger steak and the duck. Pretty wide rage of selections, I think, especially for a such a short menu. Of all 5 selections NOT A SINGLEDISHWASSERVEDHOT; ATBESTTHEYWERE A FEWSINGLEDIGITDEGREESABOVEROOMTEMPERATURE. Important note number 2: WEWERETHEONLY, LITERALLY, THEONLYCUSTOMERSINTHERESTAURANT. Maybe half an hour after we arrived 2 more tables were sat. So there is no excuse to serve cool food. There was no «rush» to blame it on. The checks are the same you’d get a cheap diner and calculated in the server’s head. Very cheap and cheesy(even to you hipsters this will not seem hip or retro; just cheesy) This all basically leads to a 1 star review. However, I see potential here. The service, though obviously inexperience, was very nice, cordial and attentive. The space could use a few finishing touches but it does have personality and it’s pretty cozy. They played disjointed but good music. And the menu tells me that a lot of thought went into tha short menu. By the way a menu need not be extensive to be solid. I’ll give them another chance one day and I hope I can adjust this review to 4 or 5 stars. In the meantime this is just a diamond very very deep in the rough. Good luck guys.

It’s places like this that makes me appreciate Unilocal. Some far off place I would’ve never found. Honestly don’t want to share this place with anyone and keep it a secret, but that wouldn’t be right. Polished off our dishes. That’s rare. We always leave some food behind. Appetizer Bone marrow — 5 stars Ahi tuna w avocado wasabi aioli — 5 stars Entrée Long Island duck w Asian noodles — perfectly salted, cooked to perfection, hint of ginger(not overpowering), accompanied with Chinese stir fry, light not oily. Amish chicken — moist tender chicken, again perfectly salted(my biggest pet peeve is over salted food), skin was crispy, squeezed a bit of lemon, the orzo with dill, roasted zucchini, and goat cheese was so tasty. Dessert I love bite size dessert! Smores w chocolate mouse instead of chocolate bar, nom nom. Bread pudding is one of my go to desserts, this place makes it really yummy. The damage including tax and tip $ 90. I’m sure for this neighborhood it seems a bit pricey but honestly everything is seasonal, fresh, and again cooked to perfection. Will be back. Please keep the free dessert for checking in!!!

OK so Room 55 is definitely a hidden gem and serving small Tapa styled plates that are super fresh, tasty and delicious! I feel like I’m eating fancy High quality Good stuff here with out the Fancy over the top pricing ! Both my friend and I got lucky this evening and had the whole restaurant to ourselves and got the chance to chat it up with Danielle who was well informed on the menu & recommendations and an exceptionally gracious and wonderful Hostess! What we dined on & final thoughts see below… * Deconstructed Beef Wellington small plate — Tender as hell, delicious and perfect for two if your not greedy and are sharing additional small plates! Get this for sure! * Seared Ahi Tuna with a delicious Asian tasting salad(small plate) Cut with the perfect thickness — fresh tasting and seared perfectly — same as above if your dong small plates you can share for two * Bone Marrow — Yes this is hands downs a delicious dish and I do not recommend sharing at all — hell this was so delicious and I will always order this and never share this although you get two large sizes you have to scoop that bone marrow out and put it on the bread with the relishes its served with and its not right to have to share this dish with anyone but yourself! * Scallion Grits — Creamy, perfect salt n pepper to taste and nice touch of scallions is a lovely dish to add on to your Small plates and I highly recommend this with the Bone Marrow * Pork Belly — Crispy skin, Juicy tender pork belly with a delicate honey /Orange glaze that is awesome but a very small plate and again don’t consider sharing this just enjoy the bites & crunch * Rolled Beef & Asparagus — we didn’t care for this small plate at all! It just didn’t appeal to our palate and not a wow factor here * Sangria we had both the Red & White Red Sangria was stronger in the sense of Alcohol levels and delicious White Sangria was a light & refreshing with Peach & White Grape undertones and a little weaker on alcohol but still tasted delicious * Desserts — 10 $ Trio of Bread Pudding, Smores & Coconut Crème Brulee — Perfect I’m not a bread pudding fan but this one tasted pretty dam good and wasn’t dry but out of the three my favorite would be the Smores this just perfect crunch, chocolate & fluff! I would make reservations on my next visit as the dining space is comfy and small and could get filled up quickly from what we were told but it was nice we were fortunate to walk in at a time when it wasn’t crowded at all! Enjoy…

We were convinced to come here just for the beef wellington. Sadly, beef wellington is hard to find in NYC. We came with a big group of 12 for dinner and we basically took over the whole place. Restaurant is quite small and run by one waitress, but don’t fret, there are about 5 people in the kitchen. We had the beef wellington, of course, which was«deconstructed.» This means the filets were on top of the fillings as for individual pieces, which accounted for the high price. The filets were perfectly cooked to order, the flavor was rich without being overpowering. This dish is definitely worth ordering but prepare to open the wallet really wide for it. Down the line, we had everything else available for the day: bone marrow, skirt steak, seafood pasta, mussles, tenderloin, pork belly, and duck. Fortunately, and amazingly, there were no complaints. All the food came out amazing, hot, and correctly cooked. It’s great to see the staff didn’t get overwhelmed with the large party and miss their quality. The quality of food here is easily comparable with West Village or Union Square area restaurants, and the staff knows it, that’s why the prices are also comparable. Is it worth the trek off the beaten path for this restaurant? Most definitely!

4.2 Another Queens boy makes good with an enticing menu. On a Wednesday night we basically had the place to ourselves. Our server, Danielle, was delightful. She owns the dining room and is warm and helpful and the right amount of attentive. We started off with the Clams Casino special and the Roasted Bone Marrow. The clams were served in a broth with bacon, peppers, shallots. It was very good… on the verge of being too salty, but great flavor. The bone marrow was a huge bone, but pretty skimpy on the actual marrow. Served with some toasted bread, pickled onions and honey beef… honey beef! It was delicious; piling each item on the bread and taking a bite, it was like an explosion in your mouth. Just great, I wish there had been more of it. For entrees we decided on the steak and pork. The Hanger Steak was cooked well with a perfect char served with roasted, crispy and creamy potatoes, mushrooms and a Cabernet sauce. A wonderful dish. The Pork Tenderloin was stuffed with greens and mushrooms served with pickled red cabbage and scallion grits; it was absolutely scrumptious. The pork was so flavorful and juicy, the cabbage gave the perfect amount of acidity and the grits, the grits were amazing. On to dessert. The dessert menu offers about 7 items, but they are served as a trio so you get to choose 3, I loved this concept. We opted for the coconut crème brûlée, smores and the bread pudding. Each dessert was delightful and a perfect end to the meal. Room 55 is serving up fantastic food in a low key and homey atmosphere and it’s a place you should try.

Wow! Just Wow… Set in an odd location in the middle of residential queens — this place is truly a gem hidden in the rough. My girlfriend and I tried to eat here a month ago — we didn’t think it would matter if we had reservations for a Friday night and to our surprise the place was booked solid!!! Anyway — we decided we had to come here for Valentine’s and got the reservation in quick. Room 55 itself is a small, quaint, familiar place — There are only about 4 people on staff but great customer service and very friendly people. For valentine’s they only have 3 seatings for a prefixe menu(you get options for each course). For the amuse-bouche they served an incredible mixed ceviche. it had fish, shrimp, mussels and who knows what — but soooo good. For the appetizer we had the mussels — fresh and flavourful and the broth was mm mm good… For the Main Entrée — I had the butter poached lobster and my girlfriend had the pan seared long island duck breast… Both were delicious!!! I actually liked the duck breast better than the lobster but both were great. We definitely are planning to come back on a regular night and eat here… Room 55 has probably the best cuisine that i’ve had in a long while…
