Herbert Hoover High School

My child attended 4 years, graduated with honors, teachers for the most part were attentive. No complaints there.
The administration needs a LOT of help since the retirement of the past principal in 2010.
In years before, there was a modest and lovely marching band that rehearsed occasionally on the football field. Since 2011, the field has been completely revamped, which is not a bad thing, but the marching band now is a competitive one with over 100 members. The cacophonous sounds, at maximum volume, coming from the field on a daily basis makes it impossible for the neighborhood to exist in peace. Many of our neighbors, including myself, had to leave home and go to a library or coffee shop in order to get work done.
The noise begins at 6:45 AM and continues intermittently throughout the day and doesn’t end until close to 10 PM. The administration will tell you that they are above the law because they are a school and do not have to adhere to normal noise restrictions. The city says that their hands are tied. It’s a hopeless situation.
I have sold my house and moved away from the area because of the marching band.
Suffice it to say, that the administration not only ignored any suggestions that the neighborhood had for remedying the situation, but fought against us in every conceivable way.
I’m very happy at this point to be away from Glendale and the sounds from Hoover high school. If you are considering sending your child to Hoover, I would talk to the neighbors in the neighborhood first. As a neighbor in the community you will be completely ignored and made to feel that you are a tremendous inconvenience.

I work with their Administration and Counselors and they are amazing.

Hoover, Yes Hoover, nope not Glendale High, I loved my experience at Hoover, Played sports for all 4 years, the teachers are great the facilities are great, I know they are completely remodeling the school and the QUAD! yea no more senior stage, I wonder how many memories just got crushed! it is like a Greek amphitheater now! Retarded but very nice! That is why I give it 4 stars! My class was the last year to have the quad, I’m happy construction started after we left! There have been several famous people who come through the doors of Hoover High I am way to lazy to list them! I also loved how everyone would pull the fire alarm! We would always have to get out and get a 10 minute break from class! As I like to say I Bleed Purple not RED (GHS)! CLASS OF 2008! Love everyone!
