Service was not the best… After waiting 10 minutes, I inquired about my order, and they stated it was given to another customer by accident. The order was remade, however, once I got to the table and when I open the bag, a hotdog was missing from my order. I notified the cashier and another dog was given to me. The food as great, and the remade hotdog was cold. I ended up throwing the hotdog and remaking fries in the garbage and left the establishment. They have some work to do on customer service and improving the taste of the food!

For having such a great location, the food is terribly disappointing. They mostly serve hot dogs, burgers, fries etc. The hotdogs and fries are decent, I have yet to try to burger but probably won’t. But it’s the chicken that will really send you running away as fast as you can. The breading is thick, leather-like and hard to chew and the chicken is flavorless and bland. I know that a majority of customers flock over from the high school, but that doesn’t mean The Stand should be serving cafeteria quality food, right? Overall the quality of meal is not worth the money you pay for it.

The Stand is your clean typical hot dog stand kind of place. The food is decent but unremarkable although they could be. The Stand caters mostly to HS students. I was surprised by how flavorful the Italian beef was. All that was missing was good crusty french bread.

Average food joint. Too expensive also… I love Italian beef and was a little dry side $ 15 for 2 small sandwiches and fries with free waters. Took a while to get our food which was also a bit frustrating. I’ll give the place another chance in the future but not soon

Excellent gyros sandwich. They give you plenty of meat(but not too much where it all falls out of the pits when you pick it up). Perfect amount of sauce. I received a regular order of fries free for checking in on Unilocal.:) The inside of the joint is very sleek and modern. I received my order within a few minutes. Overall very nice service and amazing food. Will probably be back when I’m in the area again.

All sizzle and low end steak. Well no, actually there’s no steak. They have burgers and fries and hot dogs. Plus salads and gyros. Like if a food truck got a brick and mortar location and then expanded their menu a bit. So now they have Cesar salads too. Or, hey if a hot dog«stand» upgraded to a bonifide location. Ohhh. Except I’ll bet these guys never operated a successful hot dog stand that just HAD to be expanded due to popular demand. It looks more like a first stab at the restaurant biz by a husband and wife team(just guessing). One of them(guessing) is just great at decorating and picking out designer bathroom fixtures and tile and tvs. And one of them(guessing) knows how to operate a grill. So they spent,(guessing) $ 100K+ on the interior. So now(yay!) everything is very passably nice and shiny. Everything screams look at me, this is casual dining. So what the f. The burger and fries were absolutely burger and fries like you’d get at a low end hamburger or hot dog stand. Complete with crinkles on the fries like you get on fries from the supermarket that come in huge bags. That’s not casual dining. And then when my order was ready, it was bagged because they don’t have trays. Wierd(and low end). Apparently the grilling dept has a different mission statement than the decorating dept. It was like I stepped into a movie starring Dr. Martha Stewart and Mr. shut the f up and run the grill. And mow the lawn tomorrow. Now I did enjoy my low end burger as well as the expensive bathroom fixtures(thank you very much). I like an interior that somewhat sizzles and low end burgers as much as the next guy. I think however, that offering some gourmet burgers and a more interesting hot dog selection would be fantastic idea. If that could be worked out without anybody getting divorced.

We love supporting local businesses and decided to stop in around dinner time last night. I had a Chicago-style hot dog, and my husband ordered a burger(on Wednesdays, they make it a double burger for free) and we split an order fries. My hot dog was really quite good. I’d compare it to Portillos(soft, fresh bun with poppy seeds, right ratio of mustard, relish, tomato, pickle…) I stole a bite of my husband’s burger, it had good flavor and was fresh(cooked in front of us). The fries were good(crinkled, hot, fresh), but I was not too thrilled about having to order an XL for the size of the fries.(No, we’re not disgusting: their fries come in two sizes: Small &XL. Small wouldn’t have been enough for us to split, and XL made me feel like a total fatty. I mean, really, this IS America and we love our fast food and fried meals, but having those two extremes and sending the message home that XL was the size I chose was a little embarrassing. Perhaps rename the sizes) The employees were friendly, food was good, and we got to eat outside on a beautiful evening.

How can you scew up a gyro and a beef sandwitch so badly. Well, the gyro came with about half the meat as is common at several neaby similar places. And, the sauce was like mayo with pickle relish in it but mostly mayo and zero flavor. Grocery store prepackaged gyros are better. and those are not good. The beef was small and just mediocre as well. For the price, this is sad. To be fair, the staff is pleasant and when we were clearly disappointed, they gave us each a little cup of Italian ice(too sugary). Still, its hard to make up for food that is just plain not good. Sadly, we love to try and support our local businesses but can’t figure out how to do it in this case. If you must go to the Stand be prepared for a disappointment.

In my home town of Glen Ellyn, right in the downtown area near the classic Glen Theatre sits a hot dog stand called«The Stand». Now the first thing that goes through my mind when I hear the name«The Stand» is a Stephen King book about a pandemic. Needless to say this isn’t a name that makes me hungry. Despite this unfortunate name I decided to visit here the day I became aware of its existence. So, what’s the deal with«The Stand»? Well it’s your classic style Chicago area greasy spoon eatery with a bit of a sports bar theme. The inside was very well decorated, comfortable and clean. When I stopped in I noticed several TVs set up in an otherwise empty restaurant. When I stopped in I decided to try both a burger and a hot dog. We’ll go over the hot dog first. The hot dog came on a classic style poppy seed bun. There was a gigantic pickle spear on top of it that was nearly the circumference of the dog itself. There was two sport peppers that were almost long enough to get sport pepper in every bite, two thin tomato slices, and a solid but light application of mustard, relish and onions. Overall the hot dog was above average with the big flaw being the enormous pickle on top of the dog. The burger was a bit better than the hot dog. The burger here came on a soft seeded bun. The beef was nice and juicy, the lettuce and tomato were good. The condiments were well applied and overall I was pleasantly surprised. This wasn’t a knock-out burger, but was well above average as well. So, my overall opinion on the food quality at «The Stand» is that it’s a bit above average. It is also a bit higher than usual priced as well. I’d say it’s a fair place to stop, the seats are comfortable so you don’t have to Stand(despite the name of the place there’s pleanty of seating). I’ll say it’s slightly above average, and to continue with a trend perhaps if they ever open a second location they should use another Stephen King book title and call the place Cujo Dogs(hey, Cujo was a dog and this is a hot dog joint). Or they should just avoid Stephen King titles entirely and come up with a more appetizing title.

An overpriced hot dog stand that has a limited menu. The beef sandwich was not so good though the place is nice looking and a welcome addition for downtown.

We were looking for a quick bite to eat for lunch on Saturday and this place seemed like a hit. My boyfriend was craving a Chicago dog so he got what he wanted. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. The upstairs was full but there were more tables downstairs. Since we were downstairs they brought our food down to us which was a nice touch. The food was good but nothing spectacular. Mostly what I expected from a fry kitchen. The price wasn’t bad. I like that it’s a local place and it seemed to be a good place for kids.

The price point in a dollar or two high, but not crazily I think(for example the salad I got was 6.25…it was pre-made with no customization possible, I’d feel better buying it for 4.75 or even 5.50. OR I’d totally pay 6.25 for the chopped salad if I could customize it a bit! It was very good, I just had to eat around the cheese and would have love more of the spicy chopped tomatoes). My partner got the Stand Burger and liked it, it was large and they made it 100% from scratch in front of you, hence why it took 10 min, but I’d rather wait10−15 min and have fresh food then it be faster and my food had been under a heat lamp for 3 hours. I tried the Stand burger too and found it very juicy and flavorful, almost melt in your mouth. It’s not the best burger I have ever had but it is very good and several steps up from a fast food drive though! I REALY like that they seem to hire local teenagers, as I think jobs like this can be great learning opportunities for teens, I’ve been working since 14 and am so glad for what I learned at my first food service job(just be sure you train them well). The teenager who worked there was very nice and was not on his phone or anything, but it seems like he was either not trained on the iPad register, or did not have the codes/permissions to check us out on their iPad register, and had to call over the manager? Owner? Not sure, whoever it was was chilling out in front with what looked like their family, not awful since it was 7pm on a Saturday evening and no guests where sitting down eat, I saw mostly a few people come in and pick up and leave. BUT I still think it’s rather unprofessional to leave a kid who cannot operate the register alone behind the counter while you sit out FRONT not on a break chit chatting with friends/family. The person happily and quickly left their conversation with their family to check us out, so that was good, but it would have been better if she wasn’t hanging out like it was her house to begin with(it this is the owner, look I know you OWN it but please be aware of the impact your hanging around with your family has on customers and how that is perceived as no really having customer care as your number one priority, which if you’re trying to bill yourself as a higher-class burger joint that puts customer service first, when you are at work and customers should appear to come before even your family(even though I sure hope in your personal life your family comes first, to your customer they should feel 110% like they are the only thing that matters). So bottom line: food(at least that I had) was good. I’d love to be able to customize the salads a bit(if I could I WOULD be getting one at LEAST once a week, it’s close to my house and I did really like the salad, but I’d 6.25 love it if I could tweak it just a bit!) Service– FAR from the worst I’ve ever had and I definitely think there is potential here, but they have a little ways to go before they hit the great customer service target they say they are going for(based on their website statements of saying they provide high quality customer service). Take a few workshops(or even google and read up on) on how to do customer service well and train the employees and I think you’ll do much better. The employees I interacted with were good raw material(pleasant, seemed to want to help but just seemed to not have that extra training and/or experience).

Three people to eat. One adult and two children. Very small crowded spance where you order with about six or so tables in a separate kind of secluded feeling downstairs area. $ 3.75 for a chili dog… with no fries. So we ordered three chili dogs, three fries and 3 drink. Holy crapola… almost $ 24.00??? I’d expect the fries to be flavorful and maybe even fresh cut for that price but alas, they seem to be the bagged frozen crinkle-cut fries. On the flip side, the chili dog was THEBEST I have ever had. And I am a VERYPICKY eater. I was just stunned at the prices. I mean, I get it, it’s in downtown Glen Ellyn, but it’s also a fast food hot dog shop. The service was EXTREMELYSLOW, my friend ordered a hot dog only after I ordered, and waited 15 minutes to get it. Drop the prices and I’ll be a regular, otherwise, an occasional passerby.

Being that it’s right in town I really wanted to like it. After trying it twice, that’s just not the case. The place is new and decorated nice, but the food quality just doesn’t match. It seems like they use cheap products, from the fries to the buns to the styrofoam containers. To make it in this town I think they really need to up their game. Maybe some fresh cut fries, and a higher quality bun for the prices they are charging. Also while it’s great to hire what seem to be local teenagers, they really need to be trained. I stood there waiting for someone to acknowledge me for about 5 minutes while the kids behind the counter gabbed away with their friends who were hanging out in the store. I’m sure I’ll give it one more shot but after that it’s back to one of the many other burger joint options around.

I agree with the negative reviews. The price to portion ratio of this place is insulting. I understand it’s expensive to open a business in the central business district of Glen Ellyn. However, $ 7+ for a gyros sandwich with hardly any meat is ridiculous. I really wanted to love this place since I am walking distance from it. Unfortunately, I’ll have to keep driving/riding my bike to the other place in the area when I feel like a gyros.

This is one of the best gyro hot dog joints I have been to. Great location and super clean classy facility. I love that their coke machine has crushed ice. Personal favorites are the quality gyro and the boneless wings. Special Greek wings rock! Management and stag super friendly!

Terrible food and questionable food safety practices while I was there. The indifferent manager who was too busy texting on her phone should spend more time worrying about the quality of the food coming out of her kitchen. Big bummer since its a waste of a good location.

I’ve been there 4 times since they opened less than 2 months ago. I was excited about this place, but it’s turned out to be such a HUGEDISAPPOINTMENT! Food is of average quality and not consistent in taste or even portion size(I’ve uploaded a picture of my gyro sandwich), service is slow, and worst of all, it is way too overpriced. I’ve had a gyro there each time and it’s never been the same… today I paid $ 7 for a gyro-just a sandwich! It had half the meat that it should’ve and tasted average.(Fyi: I am a gyro connoisseur and have good and bad gyros from everywhere.) Save your money and go somewhere else. Just cuz it’s local didn’t mean that I’ll support it if the quality continues to be sub par and expensive, and the owner doesn’t want to improve and listen to his/her customers.

Been three time and have tried the breaded chicken sandwich and gyros and fries all three times. Main food is good but fries could use a lot of help. They have ranged from overdone to lukewarm to tasting like they were fried in day old oil. The food is overpriced compared to the quality and what you get when comparing to Five Guys. I would love to be able to continue supporting a local but am very close to calling it quits unless they fix the fries and lower the prices a bit.
