I visited here a couple months ago for a prenatal massage. The massage was great! Very relaxing and a reasonable price!

Initially I went in to see Dr. Blake. He listened, treated and set expectations for me(and my back). He stopped treatment and sent me to a spine specialist on my return. visit because my symptoms had worsened. I came back to the office for a massage after getting clearance from the spine doctor. Gretchen, my masseuse, was informed by Dr. Blake of my many issues. Gretchen surpassed my expectations. She consistently asked if I was ok, feeling anything unusual, or creating any radiating pains. She went deep, but not as deep as she could have since it was the first time. The second time she went deeper always asking if I was ok. I had been going to physical therapy before I started massage therapy. I just came went to PT tonight. She could tell a remarkable difference because of Gretchen’s abilities.

I have been going to dr Blake with various hip issues that have popped up for me – he is honest, very patient, takes the time to teach you physical therapy exercises to help whatever issue you are having, and his adjustments are gentle. I had a prior bad experience with the first person I saw so I was happy to find him. The massage therapists are terrific-I really won’t go elsewhere for a massage. Front desk service is always friendly and helpful.

I waddled into Dr. Schaffnit’s office at the end of 2011, eight months pregnant, and in so much lower back and hip pain I could hardly move. After the first visit, I walked out like a normal person again. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on chiropractors over the past 10 years for various issues, and I’ve gotten very picky about who I’ll see – it’s not easy to find a chiropractor who doesn’t try to promise to cure your autism, push pricey and dubious supplements, or tell you they’ll need to see you twice a week for the next six months. This is one of those rare offices that meets my criteria, and they’re friendly too. Anyway, I’m reviewing them now because, pregnant again, I called today after two years to book a prenatal massage with Lena, and they squeezed me in same-day, and, though I’m sure I’ll be sore tonight(this is no wimpy massage), I’m already feeling much more mobile.

Dr Blake has helped me function more comfortably thanks to his knowledge and care of my lower spine issues. He always has his patient’s long-term well being in mind! Lina is a fantastic massage therapist who adjusts her pressure perfectly and always finds the spots that need TLC. Everyone at the office is professional and approachable. Our daughter is now receiving care for issues caused by dance and wished we would go more frequently!

I went to Schaffnit on a group-on and have been a regular for over a year. When I first went I was struggling with constant moderate headaches. I also had a lot of upper back pain and neck pain from tight muscles. After about 2 months of weekly visits, which were covered by my insurance, my headaches subsided and so have my back and neck aches. I continue to go once a month, not covered anymore since this is wellness. While I still get headaches once in a while, once a month, I still need to get loosened up where my muscles are tight. I look forward to my massage with Gretchen because it gets very deep in my muscles and I feel great. The first time you get a massage, it will hurt and you’ll be sore. The second time will be better, but the third time and after will be wonderful. It feels very good instead of hurting. If you don’t appreciate the pain, just let Gretchen know and she will adjust quickly to accommodate your preference. Sometimes I’m really sore after a tough work out, so she’ll go easier on me but will still work out the sore muscles which recover quicker after the massage. I don’t feel pressured to buy more service or products. When I was new, Dr. Blake let me know what was available and that was it. No reminders. No pressure. Which is much appreciated.

I was referred to Schaffnit Chiropractic by a friend at work when I was having major neck, shoulder and arm pain from heavy computer use at work in May of 2012. Dr. Schaffnit did a thorough assessment of the problem and explained in detail his plan and the time line for relief and recovery. At first I went weekly for therapeutic massage and to learn the exercises that brought the muscles out of their contracted painful state. Since then, I’ve been going monthly for maintenance which keeps me mindful of what to do and not do so that the pain doesn’t return and for therapeutic massage. Gretchen and Lena are the best massage therapists! Also, INSURANCEPAID for all my visits! Thanks, Dr. Schaffnit! And in reference to Kelly below: Therapeutic massage is not the same as a Swedish massage at Massage Envy. It’s therapy for your muscles — they’re getting rid of the build up of lactic acid and other impurities. And they will adjust the pressure if you need them to. Drink lots of water! You will feel a whole lot better.

Dr. Blake and his staff are incredibly warm and hospitable. I have been going to Schaffnit Chiropractic and Rehabilitation for over three years and would recommend their services to anyone. My entire family has benefited from Schaffnit Chiropractic and I continue to refer folks to Dr. Blake. Dr. Blake provides helpful stretching/at home exercises to supplement regular visits. He is truly seeking the best patient outcomes for all of his clients. I’ve heard of folks going to Dr. Blake for knee and shoulder injuries, too. His holistic approach is conducive to athletes, but you don’t have to be an athlete to benefit(I’m a prime example. :)) I’ve also utilized their massage therapy offerings and have found them incredibly beneficial and relaxing. I prefer the deep tissue massage, myself. Be ready to drink a ton of water and be sore for a day or two afterward(this is normal as the deep tissue massage releases toxins in the body which equates to the soreness.) All and all, I could not be happier with my experiences here and will continue to be a client.

I’ve had two massages here, and the last one left me sore. It’s way too thumb-sy for my liking. I understand I have tightness in my shoulders, but the aggressive manipulation of the muscles did not make me a happy camper. My husband also got a massage here and said he felt looser afterwards, but I’m just feeling beat up.

My brother-in law introduced me to Dr. Blake. He is one of the best. I have had back problems and refused to go to a chiropractor because of past experiences. He took his time to diagnose the problem, explained it so I can understand and put me on a exercise program to strengthen my back and improve my center of balance. His real talent is he is very straight foreword. If he can’t help you he will let you know. After taking x-rays, he told my wife that she needs to see a specialist and he can’t help. If it wasn’t for that diagnoses, my wife would have had life long, irreversible damage to her spinal cord. Her vertebras were‘compressing her spinal cord and causing her arms and legs to loose feeling. We found a great Neurosurgeon, Dr. Michael Caron in Naperville, and within weeks she was having surgery. Dr Blake Schaffnit always stayed in touch to check on her progress even though she wasn’t a patient of his. I am glad to say she is making a full recovery and starting to get the feeling back in her extremities. If it wasn’t for Dr. Blake, she would have permanently lost her feeling in her feet, hands and who knows where else. Both Dr. Schaffnit and Dr. Caron have the best bed side manners I have ever seen. They call to see how she is doing and it is sincere, not just routine. It is hard to find those qualities in Doctors today! If you have a problem, this is the guy to see!
