nice quiet 60s vibe during weekdays. i dont believe prison yard Unilocal poster as i have been to the restaurant for years and always felt safe. But maybe he’s just projecting who knows .But place seems safe and mellow, maybe the crowd changes at midnite on weekends.

Gilroy’s prison yard. If you’re wondering how someone could give a 4 or 5 star review(which I did) to a place, and then change it to a one star sometime after, let me offer an analogy to help explain: if you’ve ever been on one of those old-fashioned wooden-truss roller coasters you know how exciting and fun it can be riding something that seems so rickety and dangerous, yet you trust in the operator’s maintenance of the ride, and you can rate it a 4-star. If however you find out that same ride actually has structural flaws, and there’s a high probability that someday patrons will end up in the headlines as a casualty either severely injured or dead, you might give it a 1-star or negative-1 star. The Beehive still has vestiges of polite, adult fun and conversation early on Friday and Saturday nights with the 50+ crowd displaying pleasant swing dance moves, but later at night and on any random weekday beware: the younger generation treat the place as if it is a prison yard. By this I mean there is random belligerence and you may be challenged and threatened with physical violence for doing nothing but simply standing there. You constantly hear poorly dressed, rather immature, gangbangers talking amongst themselves about the violence in fights they have been involved in and chuckling amongst themselves, and like in a prison yard they feel it’s their right to have a private conversation in a public place about such matters. Those are no laughing matters. If you have ever been the victim or someone close to you of physical violence, you know it can ruin your life or even take it. That is why assault can quickly get you in jail with felony charges. I guess even gangbangers need a place that they can act out there inappropriate attitudes that are dangerous to society; it’s unfortunate they have to do it in a place that is a Gilroy classic but now essentially ruined and downright dangerous for the general public. We all suppose their money is just as good as ours, but I will not be surprised if the owner gets sued and the entire place is closed within a few years.

Guilty of trying to find live music on the weekends I’m here… I love it. The last time I came, I met side super awesome local patrons who were hilarious. For a small town, this place has big city appeal(in a divey kinda way *hehe). They have good food great space to dance if you wanna and if you dig a patio, theirs is huge

Great local watering hole. It is attached to a restaurant and has a retractable wall. Great place for drinks with locals. Karl(Carl?) is a super bartender.

There are two great bars in Gilroy. Three if you count Applebee’s during happy hour. This is one of the greats. Live music. Karaōke. Clark & Dawn. Pool table. oh and the fish tank. If Clark is there, order a Darth Vader.

You can go for breakfast Sunday morning & stay all day… it’s connected with a restaurant that’s been in Gilroy, for-ev-er.(said Sandlot style) ;) The breakfast at the Longhouse is good… I’m never unhappy. I’ve only been to the bar a few times but never had issue with it… it’s your typical dive & it’s close to home! Live music on Dec. 28th I believe was the issh!!! It was a reggae style younger band & it sounded amazing!!! If anyone know who they were hit me up!
