What a fun place to take a weekend tour!!! They have carriage rides through the Vineyard at Christmas time!!! One Sunday a month they have a food truck rodeo, not to mention the music and wine tasting!!!

Perfect location for a sip of wine. You can sample their award winning bottles at the winery, or stroll along the vines, or enjoy some afternoon live music by the lake… wines are offered by the glass or you can buy 6 or 12 pack of bottles at discounted prices to savor later.

My husband and I stopped through as we were traveling — I can’t say enough wonderful things about this winery and the service we received. We had our dog with us since we were traveling and Chad was so accommodating to let us have our tasting outside under their patio. We’ve done a lot of tastings/tours in NC and VA and I must say there wasn’t a wine at Grove Vineyards that I didn’t like. Not to mention, Chad was nice enough to give us some of the history of the grapes and the wine making process. Overall it was a fabulous experience and I recommend it to everyone!

Today was the first time I visited the Grove Winery & Vineyards. I came for the monthly food truck rodeo and was impressed with the set up lot of space for seating and a nice stage for music. I will most likely go back for other events that are hosted there.

My mom and I drove out here from raleigh to taste some wine for her birthday. $ 5 gets you six tasting portions and a souvenir glass. I wish I remember the guy who did our tasting, because he was great. He really listened to what types of wine we said we enjoy, gave us two extra tastings based on our feedback, and gave my mom her tasting for free because it was her birthday! The bottles of wine had a nice range of prices, $ 10 – 30. We bought the $ 10 haw river white, which was like a delicious Chardonnay blend. I’d definitely go back!

There are a couple of great vineyards in a close drive to the Triad and this is one of them. Located just northwest of Greensboro, out in the country, Grove serves a wide selection of wines from German style wines like the trocken as well as traditional wines like merlot and chardonnay and some scuppernog varieties. Prices are reasonable and many of the grapes are grown on site. My wife and I like to buy a bottle and go sit by the lake, which also allows fishing. I haven’t had a bad wine here but the trocken is my favorite. Tastings are a great way to sample, but the best deal is buying a bottle to drink on site.

Grove Winery is a popular destination on the weekends. The small tasting room can easily be overwhelmed. We have had to wait at least 20 minutes or more for a spot at the counter both times we have visited(several years apart). It’s challenging to produce good wines in this region — a few of the wines we tasted were okay, but at $ 18 a bottle, aside from supporting your winery if you can afford to, it doesn’t make sense when there are better wines at the grocery store for $ 6 to $ 8. The less expensive wines($ 9-$ 14) weren’t up to par — a couple were barely drinkable. Yes, there are medals everywhere — and while we applaud their efforts and their awards, closer examination will reveal many of these came from local county fairs.

We never went to the winery, but we went to the tasting room and come on people — isn’t the tasting room REALLY what we are after? Sure, I love a nice winery or vineyard as much as the next person, but if the tasting room is elsewhere, then… ya gotta go there too !!! We tasted some good wines. My favorite was a nice crisp chardonnay. My wife favored the strawberry wine which is strange since strawberry is not her favorite. We sat out by the lake and enjoyed the weather while sipping on a glass of Grove Winery Vino ! It was a good time ! We also took an awesome photo of ourselves sitting by the water cheering our glasses of wine !

Grove Winery was named«Best Vineyard in the Triad» this past year, and it’s easy to see why as they clearly take pride in both producing quality wine and providing excellent customer service. The winery itself is small and located a few miles north of Burlington. As seems to be the case with most NC wineries, this one is essentially located in the middle of nowhere. A tour was not included in the tasting, but we were informed that the Grove Winery owners/winemakers own two properties from which they primarily source their grapes but that they also source grapes from a handful of other local properties. The tasting room of the winery is very small with a bar in the center and the surrounding walls adorned by knick knacks for purchase, bottles of wine for sale, and Grove Winery bottles displaying numerous medals won at various wine festivals and tasting competitions. Judging by the number of awards that these guys have garnered, I’d say they know a little something about what they’re doing. Our server/winery historian/Durham inquirer was Chad, and he was pretty darn awesome. We went with the standard tasting which put us back a mere $ 5 per person and included six wine tastings(of your choice) and a souvenir wine glass. Chad was informative, engaging, and laid back. The wines were definitely solid all-around. Being a red wine man myself, I especially enjoyed the Sangiovese and Nebbiolo, though I found both of the holiday seasonals(Nose Nipper Red and Nose Nipper White) to be quite pleasant as well. Everyone in my group was pleased by the wine(perhaps some a bit too much so!). The tasting room is open noon-6pm seven days per week, and there is some outdoor seating overlooking the property’s small lake(unfortunately it was raining the day that we visited!). They also host concerts and other events every now and again during the summer which would definitely be worth checking out if you were in the area. Grove Winery and Vineyards simply satisfies all around. To get a taste of the type of dudes that run this winery, check out this promotional clip they put together(Chad showed it to us while we were in the winery and it definitely got us laughing):
