Do you want Chipotle but without the E. Coli scare? Do you want queso? Well… come on down to Swanky’s. Where you can get tequila and fish tacos unlike like that popular hipster Mexican food place with 6 items on the menu. Also, I love the seasoning they put on their chips. So much dopeness. Swanky’s never change.

I got the steak tacos. It comes with two tacos on corn tortillas. They are the only corn tortillas that won’t break. They cook the steak to order which is awesome, and by the time I found a table it was ready. The corn that comes with it is something you cannot find anyplace else. I don’t even know how to describe the ingredients in it. I thought I would not be full from this food, but I was full off of the tacos alone. I came with lime rice, and chips and salsa. The chips have some kind of seasoning on them, which I like. The salsa is very different here. It definitely appear to be fresh, but kinda bland. It tastes like spicy marinara. My wife got a gigantic chicken quesodilla.

This was our first time to visit while on an overnight stay. The food was fresh and tasty. My only suggestion is that the employees be a bit more helpful to people who don’t know the«process» of ordering. It was a new concept for us and we didn’t fully understand how to move through the line. Other than that, no complaints. We ordered a burrito bowl and a chimi. Very delicious!

Love this place, staff never smile, especially the cashier! Other than that food is good.

Phenomenal burrito bowls, better than Chipotle hands down. They are very generous with their portions unlike Chipotle and guacamole is included without any up charge like Chipotle does. I would advise people to spend their money here than Chipotle, more buck for the money.

Swanky’s is a pretty good place to pick up a delicious burrito or taco. My only reservation about recommending it very highly is that in my experience, it’s been semi-expensive. I prefer to head down Poplar and hit up Chipotle. But I know a lot of people who swear by Swanky’s and that’s just fine. But for me, it’s overpriced for what it is. Plus, if you head to any of the many authentic Mexican restaurants you can pick up an awesomely legit meal for about 5 bucks whereas here, it’s around $ 8 most of the time. Try it out and see if Swanky’s is up your alley. If not, you and I can go to Chipotle together. Mmmmmm.

The service is always bad. They rush you on the phone when placing your order. Last time I went the pregnant cashier whom I’m assuming was just moody, got upset because she put guacamole in my bag and I told her I didn’t want that. So I’m assuming it was extra work for her to take it out the bag because it made her upset and she threw my receipt really rudely. Nachos are not great and the manager tried to explain they had a «4 oz» policy and even said himself you won’t notice the chicken due to the large amount of chips given. He told me I could order extra meat… Ummmm ok it’s $ 10 so that should be enough meat on it already. Smh. Won’t be back!

Swanky’s is a solid burrito/taco restaurant. Its real selling point, in my opinion, is that it is local. Otherwise, it is fairly average and relatively expensive. I typically order the chicken burrito. It’s good, but take note that, for better or worse depending on taste, there isn’t much spice. I prefer spicy, so it didn’t blow me away. The salsa that comes with the chips is also mostly sweet, with almost no heat. The tacos are tasty, but also relatively small portions. In all, don’t expect to get a burrito/taco, chips, and drink for less than $ 17-$ 18. For my money, that puts it right up against Chipotle, a company whose food is sourced well and, for my tastes, tastes better. But, Chipotle isn’t local. #ILoveMemphis

CRAWFISHTACOS!!! How could these simple looking soft tacos be so incredible? The super creamy cheese, the ripe tomatoes, crisp lettuce, corn meal battered crawfish, and that YUMTASTIC chipotle sauce. I swear I looked at my plate, considered how horrible all my food had been the previous days at other places, and assumed this probably would be too. Thanks Swanky’s for helping me get my food groove back!!! This made up for all those horrid meals and then some. Even the cilantro lime rice was perfection. Also… the grilled veggies were a very nice addition. I am picky about peppers so I only ate the zucchini but it was delicious. Now I will say Swanky’s has items that I really don’t like. Their tortilla chips, salsa, and quesadillas suck. They are always packed for lunch. They don’t have a history of having outgoing employees. But dangit I am coming back for the tacos! Their hard shell chicken tacos are also to die for. Their guac is always on point and the other toppings are always fresh. I already want to get crawfish tacos again for lunch and it was just yesterday… gah!

Great food and great margaritas! I love the shrimp quesadillas! Very nice workers and manager. Great location– near many shops. My only complaint would be they get really greasy sometimes. The establishment could also use some sprucing up.

I will admit I wasn’t a fan of this place. I ordered the chicken burrito bowl and it was just okay. My husband got the chimichangas and did not like them at all. There was barely any meat and all you tasted was the flour tortilla. Also the tortilla chips and salsa that came with his dish tasted bland. The sauce tasted just like tomato sauce with no flavoring and the chips weren’t fresh. Furthermore, I found the cashier to be very rude and bothered when I asked her questions about our meal.

I came here from time to time because I work nearby so it’s convenient, but every time I get food here I wish I hadn’t. I tend to order the nachos with no pico although I change the base from time to time. I’ve received bare chicken nachos on occasion, even though it wasn’t what I ordered. I’ve ordered the shredded beef nachos but seems like I always get fatty meat. Granted I haven’t tried a wide variety of menu items, but when I’m on my lunch I just order something quick to go, but I’m disappointed almost every time. I have had chicken burritos that I’ve enjoyed, but they don’t even come with chips so I don’t end up feeling full. I swore this place off after the last bare nachos, but I recently went back after months and, sure enough, I was reminded of why I swore it off in the first place. I got steak nachos and the steak is just bits of rubber. Also, I question their kitchen standards since while I was waiting I saw the cook with the goatee reach bare handed with no utensils in a cheese container and I saw him dip chips into one of the guacamole containers(I assume a replacement for behind the bar) and eat them like he was eating out of his own bowl. It seemed unsanitary and kind of made me lose my appetite. I’m done with this place and this time I’m sticking with that decision.

I am a fan! As with every restaurant I have my go to dish here… The bowl and frozen margarita. I usually come on Tuesdays when margaritas are 2 – 1. Food is always good. I like the Colonial location best. There you sit and they come and take your order, at the Kirby location you get in line first. Similar to Chipotle but I hate chipotle!

Fast and friendly, with quite the tequila bar! It felt like a Chipotle or Moe’s in the set up but the booze was a fun twist. That being said I’m not sure it’s the place to «tie one on». The sautéd veggies were very raw but other that the food was good. Simple and casual.

I’ve been to Swanky’s so many times, that I’ve lost count… so I figured it was time to write a review. I usually come here for lunch, which is typically PACKED. Like line almost out the door. Recently, one of my coworkers said«hey, lets go to happy hour at Swanky’s». They serve the same menu as lunch, but it’s a great place to sit on the patio, share some appetizers, and not share your margarita. Although I didn’t see it on the menu, the bartender made me a Skinny Margarita and it was pretty good. Nice that you can go out for Mexican food and have some healthy, well ok «healthier» options. I typically get their salad. I feel like you get so much more for your money than other chain Mexican restaurants, and the food is always fresh. Guacamole and cheese dip are the big winners in my book if you’re looking for something to share. I highly recommend the salad if you’re looking for a filling meal. They have a wonderful selection of toppings and meats. My favorite is the pork with hot vegetables. So go early if you’re heading there for lunch! You won’t walk out of there disappointed… or hungry.

I have been here twice and I really like this place! Yes it is definitely on the expensive side for mexican food but the food is fresh, the chips and salsa are really good, and the salads are a reasonable price for the size since they are large enough to share or have for 2 meals. –All of the items seemed to require salt –Didnt like the queso, a little too watery and lacking flavor –The Chicken salad was delish –Tuna taco was tasty, but needed better sauce options –Margarita was watered down, not impressed –Shrimp taco was pretty tasty –Huge drinks with refills

Very disappointing fish tacos. I asked the server what was better. Fish or crawfish. On his advice I did the fried fish. It was less than average. And an expensive dinner especially since I only ate half. I have had excellent fish tacos on Cape Cod(Guapos) and in a great town like Memphis I expected better.

Nice take off of a Moe’s concept — I am not convinced that it is my go to Mexican place — doesn’t feel or look Mexican — Overall OK.

Why don’t they have one of these near me?! It is like Subway meets Chipotle. I always get tacos, as opposed to burritos and other Mexican favorites, and Swanky’s provided more options then I have ever seen anywhere. Everything tasted fresh and as far as I know everything was included in the price. Many places have an extra charge for guac near us. The employees were friendly.
