We have eaten here at least two dozen times since we discovered Picca and have always had great food and service. Unfortunately, tonight was a bad experience and I doubt that I’ll return. As we do each visit, we asked if the vegetables could be placed in a separate container — we’re weird in that we don’t like the juices from the broccoli touching the rest of the food. We’ve been accommodated each time that we order food for take out. Well tonight, I was told that they could no longer do that because the portion of broccoli must fit in the compartment of the take out container. Huh!!! Well, if a serving is one scoop then put that scoop in the container! Trust me, I don’t need nor want more than the portion allowed. At that point I said«Are you telling me that I can’t have my food the way I want it?! If it is a matter of an extra charge for the container, I’ll pay it.» At that, he gave me the broccoli in a container. As I was checking out the cashier, who obviously overheard our exchange, gave me major attitude and barks at me, «SAUCE?!» And, YES, I barked back. Really disappointed with tonight’s visit. There are too many of these types of Peruvian chicken restaurants in the area and I think I’ll be checking out the new one off of Clopper Road.

The food, service and atmosphere is always amazing at this place. The management is awesome too, they always take the time to say hi. Every time I have gone, I have tried something different and lived it! Highly suggest this place to everybody.

nice area, nice service but not to authentic. It is very Americanized. I prefer to go try Peruvian food in the typical Latino neighborhood. I guess I am a bit picky because Ai tried food from the actual country. overall good service and food. A bit pricey for that small amount of food.

REALLYNICE roasted CHICKEN there! Definitely go there when you are extremely starving. I’m always trying to get something else, usually ending up with having chicken. Just can’t stop it!

Wow, this place! I’m an instant fan here. I went with my mom and brother over the weekend, it’s Wednesday now and I’ve been itching to return. I regularly find new places to try on Unilocal. We were in the area and when I looked in my bookmarks I saw that this place and a Thai place were closest. I gave the option to my mother and she picked here. Since going here I’ve raved about it to the rest of my family. The food is delicious, our waitress was a dear and we had a great time. To get into details the menu is large and it all looked delicious. It took me forever to decide on what I wanted because I wanted to try everything. I settled on the carne asada, my mom had the rockfish, and my brother had this stewed chicken on flavourful rice. My dish was wonderful, and I tried my brother’s dish and found it delicious. My mother received the entire fish arranged beautifully and she said it was delicious(I don’t eat fish so I didn’t try it). The restaurant is long and narrow with a large outdoor seating section. My mom wanted to sit outside but I found it humid so we went in. It’s pretty loud in there but I feel like that’s common with South American restaurants. They’re loud and lively. I really enjoyed my first time here and I can’t wait to go back.

Stopped by here for lunch the other day. Co worker and I split the $ 20 combo which comes with a whole chicken and 2 sides. We had the yucca fries and chaufa rice. Meal came out in 5 minutes even though the restaurant was really busy. I heard through a friend that this place shares the same ownership as the hugely successful Sardi’s franchise. I’m surprised for a place that looks a little more upscale than Sardi’s prices are the same. Chicken was seasoned and cooked well. Meat was tender, juicy and piping hot. Chaufa had the authentic taste and not very greasy. Strong garlic and onion flavor. Yucca fries were delicious and nothing special. Great lunch spot in the area. There is plenty of parking in the front. I’ll be back to try their anticuchos de corazon and steak dishes.

Although you might come for the chicken they have plenty of other things in the menu you will enjoy. Space was a bit limited but food was great.

Amazing. My wife and I love the Peruvian cuisine. We had some of the best Peruvian food in Miami, Fl, and we’ve been seeking Peruvian food on that level. This place gets damn near close! We went for dinner around 7:30. There was a line along the left side where the kitchen’s bada booming meets the to-go preparation line, and we thought that was the line to get seated and dine in. We looked past the line and towards the center was a hostess kiosk. We went up to the hostess and were quickly seated. The waitress was welcoming and pleasing. She was attentive throughout our meal. We enjoyed the Ceviche Mixto, Arroz Con Mariscos Paella(different from the Chaufa), and the ¼ chicken dark with vegetables and yucca fries. The Ceviche was the best I’ve had in town! A citrusy limey juicy kickin liquid with fish, shrimp, and squid, accompanied by cuzco corn(hominy?), sliced red onions and Cancha. The seafood was fresh! The Paella was savory and delicious. The saliferous seafood flavors were infused into the rice giving the paella just the right briny flavor. Again, the seafood was fresh and didn’t have the old fish smell or taste. The seafood included mussels, shrimps, squids, and scallops. Top this dish off with a spicy nudge. A nudge because it wasn’t that kick I like, but the spice was present. The Aji verde, helped add some more spice to each spoonful. The ¼ Chicken was juicy and flavorful as expected. The Peruvians know how to roast Chicken! Every Peruvian rotisserie I’ve gone to, including Picca, produces a dish of hot, juicy, crispy skinned, melty, and meaty, roast of chicken. Just outstanding. The Yucca fries looked and tasted as if they had split fresh yucca next to the frier and fried till golden. They were crispy and meaty goodness. The Yucca fries went well with the lighter green hot sauce, kind of like a spicy ranch. The one downer, which doesn’t make a difference to my rating as you can see, the side of vegetables. Its that bag of frozen corn, peas, and carrots that I have in my freezer. There isn’t anything wrong with it, I just expected fresh steamed veggies. They put a crap ton of butter in it though and made it better. Overall, 5 stars, delicious food. Enjoy!

Went here on a whim after playing golf nearby. We were thoroughly impressed with the meals. The Peruvian chicken was very tasty and the sauces that was provided was great also. My wife really loved the fried seafood platter. Perfectly and lightly fried. Also had the plantains and corn. Both were excellent. The corn kernels were huge and dense making it very different from the sweet corn that is normally served around here. Really loved the plantains and took some to go too. You will not be disappointed.

I went here last night with a group of friends and my boyfriend. We were seated after waiting about 20 minutes. This place is very crowded on Saturday nights, and for good reason. The food is really good. The setting is like a sit-down Sardi’s, but with a more extensive menu. One of our friends ordered the beef heart, and said it was very good(I wasn’t game to try it). I had pollo saltado and some yucca fries, and everything was very tasty. They also make really good pisco sours: D I’ll be back!

Peruvian style chicken is delicious! The green sauce for the chicken and fried yuca is a must! Or if you’re like my wife and don’t care for the spicy green sauce you’ll want to get the yellow sauce. We always do take out here because service is a hit or miss every time we dine in. Very friendly though. Other than the chicken, the ceviche is really tasty too. Give it a shot!

Ventured out from Frederick to give this place a shot. Alright so the stars are for the customer service. They were very welcoming and attentive. However, i was not impressed with the food. I don’t know what it was, but I could not finish my food. I ordered something that was fried rice, steak, chicken and noodles. The description and picture made it seem like something interesting to try… However, It almost taste like I was dining in a Chinese food restaurant. It was nothing special. The restaurant was VERY small. It was so busy so there wasn’t much comfort. I kinda kinda felt cramped and close to the tables around us. The restaurant was connected to Sardis chicken which was pretty cool. I should of just ordered the half chicken. Something that i know i would like. Though i do enjoy Peruvian food, I’ll have to think about venturing out to give them another try. I mean… If they are connected to the best sardis, I might feel the need to try out more of what they have to offer.

It doesn’t get much better than Sardi’s, right? BUTITDOES. It has somehow become tradition for me to start salivating towards the end of a trail at Sugarloaf and speed over here ASAP. The Peruvian chicken here has crispier skin and tastes cleaner. The green sauce/aji verde is life. Ceviche here, regular or the other variations, is just amazingly fresh and a must-have every time. Their lomo saltado is bomb, but would rather have yucca fries than demz basic thick-cut fries. Restaurant is clean, has a good vibe, with always-friendly staff as a bonus. Certified delicious from my actually-Peruvian dude-bro.

Excellent food here. This place is on par with sardi’s except it is a little more expensive because it is overall a little more classy than sardi’s. Meaning: it is a sit down restaurant with real plates and silverware and waiters. So if you want to feel like you are eating at a real restaurant come here. If. You just want really good food and don’t care that you are eating with plastic utensils and styrofoam plates. Save your money and go to sardi’s.

Un lugar muy agradable, la comida deliciosa y el servicio excelente. El pollo a la brasa es el mejor que he probado en los Estados Unidos y mucho mejor que en algunos lugares del Perú. El ceviche perfecto. Felicitaciones !

I read a lot of strong reviews for this place. I decided to take my girlfriend out to dinner for her birthday. It is a smaller restaurant. When you walk in, the charred, Smokey smell is amazing. As we were seated, they provided a pitcher of water for the table. My drinking glass was dirty. I asked the server for a clean one and didn’t receive one until asking for a third time. A three sauce plate was provided to us with no explanation of the sauces or anything to dip in and try the sauces. Perhaps, it is a Pervian theme, but being a first time guest, I didn’t understand the purpose. For the appetizer, we shared the calamari which was fresh and tasty. For dinner, I ordered the half chicken with yucca and fried rice. The chicken was pretty greasy and bland. The same goes for the fried rice. My girlfriend had the chicken kabobs, which was delicious and I wish I ordered that instead. My biggest issue with this place was the service. When My girlfriend got up to clean her hands in the restroom, I asked an employee if they could bring a piece of cake for her birthday. Granted, she wasn’t our server responded, «we don’t do birthday cake and I’m busy.» And just walked away from me. She never even had the courtesy to tell my waitress. A manager came to the table and quickly fixed the situation. He brought out a delicious piece of cake with a candle in it and sincerely apologized for any inconvenience. In conclusion, the food I ordered was decent, but overall the rest of the meal was great! It is a small place so expect the noise level to be high. The service seemed amateur and needs to focus on how to treat customers better no matter how busy they think they are. Management is friendly and quick to respond to issues.

Now I can’t decide if I like Sardi’s or Picca better. Hm. I brought my mother here for a pre-mother’s day dinner. It was partly an experiment for myself. I live nearby, but I work near Sardi’s, so let me tell you, I know Peruvian grilled chicken. I definitely was not disappointed! I ordered my usual favorite, Pollo Parrillero(½ deboned chicken), plantains, a side salad and horchata. The meal was amazing. I originally said I’d take half of it home. Ha! What a joke. I ate everything on my plate! The chicken was so tender and juicy. I love the Peruvian spices… not spicy at all! I’m not a hot and spicy lover. The restuarant was decent. A little small in the place. Seems like no matter where you sit, you’re looking into the kitchen or near the wait staff’s station. At one point we smelled a strong whiff of Pine-Sol. Luckily we already had our food… that would have made me change my mind and walk out if I thought they were cooking our food next to the cleaning solutions. There are tables outside if you’d rather sit out on a nice day, but it’s in the parking lot. Not too sure you’d want to eat and inhale car fumes I will most likely order ahead and go the carry out route when I come back. Tip: Do yourself a favor and try the flan!

This place is fantastic! If you like Sardis you’ll love this place. picca has the same chicken as Sardis and has the same sides but then they have other Peruvian dishes as well. We ordered the causas, ceviche and carne adasa and everything was good and very tasty. The atmosphere is very lively and very packed and noisy on weekends and makes the place come to life. The décor isn’t anything special.
