I hired this man(Luke Stewart aka Luschen P. Stewart) upon recommendation of a friend who said she’d had a good experience with him. What a colossal, costly mistake it was on my part. Because I trusted her recommendation so completely, I paid him a good chunk of the estimate upfront and never checked his credentials. This is NOT a licensed contractor and in retrospect seems like a practiced con man.(The address on his contract is a UPS box.) In addition to the usual contractor unprofessionalism, like empty promises and missing his original deadline by over a month, these workers were woefully unskilled. The work was often crude and looked like something out of a shop class. At first, when they were doing things like painting, it wasn’t so noticeable, but the quality of work got lower and lower as time went on – crooked shelves, huge holes in the wall where the shelves were bolted in, peeling and cracked paint(which was an outrageously expensive Benjamin Moore eggshell, by the way) a bathroom vanity that was installed improperly, and then, the most outrageous find: rather than using cork underneath the portion of wood floor he was repairing, he used CARDBOARD taken from my recycling bin. The Amazon logo was clearly visible in the aftermath, once my(actually licensed and competent) new contractor pulled it up. I would be happy to show anyone the pictures; they are unbelievable. I am still staggered by the amount of sheer negligence and disrespect that’s in evidence. I will be reporting him, since it’s illegal to work as a contractor without a license, but I still worry that others might find themselves in the same boat. Please don’t fall for it, no matter who recommends him. You will regret it.
