Went there last Saturday and it was closed and gutted.

I stopped by this location earlier today(March 16) and saw all the tables and chairs were removed, and a realtor’s lock box was on the front door handle. It looks like they are out of business.

This restaurant was cleared out and appeared closed when I tried to go for lunch today.

So came here after work to grab a quick dinner to go. First time I was ever there so I stood in the pay line instead of the order line. When I get up to the register there was so acknowledgement of how can I help you or I’ll be with you in one minute. Ignoring me lasted a good eight minutes to only be told I was in the wrong line and then didn’t take me first but made we wait again behind someone who just got there. Then I had the same issue with same gentlemen silence nothing I mean it’s customer service I felt like I was bothering them by ordering food. After I ordered there was no thank you or anything. The guy had a slight Mohawk and I will never go back to that place ever again because of his customer service and the food was cold. There was one guy who seemed to be doing it all who was the only one that was nice. Definite training needs to occur which pretty much explains why the restaurant was empty except for an elderly couple and a man complaining about the wait.

We had pulled pork and ribs. The meat was flavorful but dry. Okra was good but too salty. Over all the lunch was good but I would not go out of my way for this place.

Had a very good dinner there this Thursday evening 6:30pm. The meats are very well prepared and very flavorful. The service is a bit slow(there were only 2 people working doing both order-taking and food prep), but the pulled pork and the brisket were just great and you definitely want to try some onion tanglers as well.

Went here with the first owners, got turned off of the food real quick and service wasn’t great. Worked for the second owners and never ate there and never told friends or family to come experience the train wreck. Have yet to go back to see if it’s different under new management. Wouldn’t waste my money here.

Had the brisket sandwich, no fat on the meat, bun was real nice. One of the best slaws I have had. Perfect amount of mayo. Baked beans were perfect. Sauces and pickles on side bar were super legit. All for 10 bux. Definitely recommend!

I want to like this place. I have been twice since they reopened, most recently 9÷29÷15. Both times were mid-week after work. Both times the dining room was empty. Both times, with only 1 person before me ordering, it took almost 15 minutes before my order was taken. It just doesn’t seem to be organized in any way how orders are taken. I can’t imagine how it would be if there was actually a line of a few people or more. This last time, I came very close to just leaving. But I had a hankering for cue, so I stuck it out. As for the cue, I ordered the two meat platter — pulled pork and spicy cheddar sausage. They were out of the cheddar, so got polish sausage. Was the only person in the dining room. I guess maybe folks order take out more so than dine in. Or maybe weekends are different. I will say the dish was plentiful. Comes with two sides, and rolls. The food wasn’t bad, but nothing to write home about either. I did leave sated with a full belly. But as I was leaving, I looked up — no sign of the two folks working there. No «How was the food and thanks for stopping in» that a customer likes to hear. There just seems to be no personality to the place like it was with the previous owners. Overall, it’s not that good of an experience. Seems they are still working on opening up their full bar. I walked by and it looked stocked and ready to go. I guess they still need to iron out some detail with the county/state. If getting a drink will be as cumbersome as ordering food though, it won’t work. The folks there are nice enough, but better effort is needed to make it a good experience that makes you want to come back.

We are from Kansas City, home to the American Royal BBQ competition and the Lenexa BBQ Battle, so it can be a challenge to find good tomato-based BBQ that satisfies us. That said, Dickey’s is a good representation of Texas-style BBQ … Good brisket, not so good pulled pork. I got the one-meat plate with pulled pork and my husband got the brisket sandwich. My plate came out with brisket instead of pulled pork, but that was a fortuitous accident because even though they brought out pulled pork and let me keep the brisket, I actually liked the brisket better. It goes well with the original sauce. The waffle fries, mac and cheese, and potato casserole are good — no wow-ing here, but basic good. The BBQ beans … My standards are skewed because of a particular restaurant in Kansas City, so I can’t fairly rate Dickey’s. I’d say they are not bad — others may like them. I didn’t finish mine. The soft-serve ice cream machine was out so I didn’t get any. But the sweet iced tea was a perfect level of sweetness. Not too much, not too little. Service was good — they made up for the mistake with the pork and brisket. No complaints there :) All in all … Get the brisket. Don’t recommend the pulled pork. Everything else is average.

The ribs here just OK, nothing special. Now, I have tried a wide variety of ribs so I can appreciate good ribs. Now I’m not saying you have to travel extremely far, even in Frederick there are restaurants with better ribs. But for those who haven’t tried ribs in other places, then yes the ribs will probably be very delicious. The price is not cheap for ribs. For this kind of quality, it does not merit the expensive prices it charges. Furthermore in many restaurants the more you buy, the better discount you get, Not with this place, it doesn’t matter if you order half rack, full rack, or their rib special. The price per rib stays the same. The place is also dirty. When I walked in to pick up an order, the floor was very sticky, which means it has not been mopped well. A restaurant that does not properly take care of its sanitation speaks volume about how it handles the food.

Decent about sums it up. We got some take out from here and it was fine. Not good but not bad. I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way but I wouldn’t say no either. The ordering process seemed to be confused. We got what we ordered but at no point did we have a lot of confidence in the process. With the exception of the onion straws nothing tasted all that fresh and it was early afternoon so that’s not all that encouraging. I probably wouldn’t be in a hurry to go back but I might give it another shot.

Went 6÷16÷2015 with four others for lunch. The daily special was 8.99 and included a sandwich(pork and sausage), two sides(I picked cole slaw and potato salad), and a drink. And they had lemons for my unsweetened iced tea. Yeah. Food was fresh. We ate inside. I’ll readily go back.

This is the second time we have eaten at dickies and it was amazing. This time we ordered the family meal to go. A lb of marinated sliced grilled chicken, lb of pulled pork, Mac and cheese, waffle fries and baked beans with buns for 40 bux. Great deal on great bbq. My kids say it’s the best chicken they’ve ever eaten and the pork with their sauces is so good. Best bbq baked beans ever. The only thing we didn’t like so far was the potato salad but everything else we have tried has been top notch. Definitely give this place a try. Nothing special about the inside – sort of a dive but don’t let that turn you away!

I was really disappointed with service, the food and the whole experience. Before the closed a year ago it was a descent place. The meat was dry and the side where nasty. It was a complete waste of my money. The three gentleman that work last night 5⁄22 was running around like chickens with there heads cut off. They didn’t list to the order the kept moving around and the food was cold and dry. Not what BBQ suppose to be. Don’t think I’ll be back. They need to get it together. They also changed a price on a order that they said the corporate office broke into their computer system and changed. I believe that was rude, just Chang e the price on the item.

Came here for lunch. Being BBQ lovers we wanted to try dickeys. We’ve had dickeys in South Carolina before and it was much better there. Food came out cold, meat was not good. sauce was bland. The«southern sweet tea» wasn’t southern at all. You could tell they use different sweeteners. Won’t be coming back

The food has been great every time we go. My son loves the free ice cream! The owner frequently comes around to check on the customers.

The ribs are tender but kind of salty and the polish sausage is good. I always get the waffle fries cause I know they’ll always be fresh and hot, the other sides are questionable. The service was friendly but slow, good thing I wasn’t in a hurry. I expected much better from this location but I guess you can’t hold every dickeys to the same standard.

Ok. I didn’t go out of my way to eat here. As a matter of fact I was a bit afraid! Some of the locals have bug problems. As I was starving I had to try. . 1. Both pulled pork and brisket are a bit dry but it’s smoked meat so is exspected. Grab one of 3BBQ! 2. Cole slaw and pork beans are good. Both well seasoned for a southern gal. 3. Fried Okra. .oh yes!!! 4. Brisket sandwich was nice sized. 5. Mac Cheese… fast food tasting… I liked the touch of sliced onions and pickles and loved the sweet tea. The ice cream cone was. so so… but thank you! I got a hint that the back rooms getting a liquor license soon and looks to be a great watering hole… yeha!

The food here is pretty decent but it is so difficult to order that I have given up eating here. I have been here a total of five times. Once, I waited 10 minutes at the counter during lunch hours and no one was around to take my order. Another time I couldn’t order online, so I called the restaurant and was told to wait one minute and then waited while the woman answering the phone had a private conversation about her boyfriend for 10 minutes. On another trip the restaurant they were out of ribs and the sausage i wanted. That said, the food I have tried has been good, especially the spicy sausage but i cant count on them answering the phone or being in their restaurant in the middle of the lunch, I am not going to make the trip.

The food here is decent but honestly I have no idea how they stay in business. Nobody is ever there! I had a bet with my wife the last time that we went that they had at least 1 table… I lost because nobody was there! Maybe their catering or takeout business is good… I don’t know. The food is actually decent. A far cry from Texas BBQ but for md quick BBQ, it’s good! Would be nice if they cleaned the tables or patched the seats and table cloths or something to make people want to eat in the restaurant. Decent location so they should be doing more business. Deal of the day is good price… Other stuff is a bit pricey but portions are nice size. Free ice cream is included. Never seen a sole at the bar. Staff seemed nice. I thought they would do more after they reopened to attempt to get some customers but that hasn’t happened. Maybe do a chick fil a thing where they hire someone to go around and clean the tables, get you refills, and offer some mints to create a more inviting atmosphere.

Coming from the Midwest — great BBQ is a staple, and a sin if not done properly. After trying several BBQ places in both Maryland and Virginia, we were very pleased with both the service and the food from Dickey’s. We especially appreciated how they waited until we showed up for pickup before they dropped the fried okra and onion rings; making sure they would be hot and fresh before taking them home. They’re as close to authentic Kansas City BBQ as you can get! Five Stars!

This new place seems to already be going downhill and isn’t heeding any of the good advice other Unilocalers are posting to improve a much appreciated corner restaurant. The service continues to be disorganized with you having to tell multiple people what you ordered and correcting them regularly and as a result is not as fast as it could be. Adding to this the inside of the restaurant is not being maintained during meal times. We saw several dirty tables, tables without chairs, or benches that needed readjusted so you could still fit. Nobody made rounds while we ate to maintain the stations. I got a rather sad looking sandwich called The Westerner(pictured) which had two triangles of cellophane wrapped yellow american poised on top of some meat on a broken bun. Meat was still dry. The sausage was good, but there wasn’t a lot of it. The staff is friendly, but you are left with the impression that there is no hands-on management at this location. If there was solid presence in the ordering line and keeping the energy up to maintain the restaurant they’d be fine. Maybe they are spread to thin with the bar area next door. They should close that, reduce their lease payments, and focus on the service first. See my prior review for more detailed food feedback.
