Great selection of unique artisan pieces. Found something great for a friend’s birthday. Owner was very nice and fun to talk to. There’s a piece there that I talked myself out of that I will probably go back and get. Wish I would have just bought it.

What a cool f*&%ing store! I only wish I had a home of my own big enough to fit everything I wanted(and a checking account with enough cash in it). Although, I don’t mind paying a little more for something that is artist made, not made by a machine on an assembly line. Loved the colorful artwork. This was totally my kind of place but I live in a miniscule townhouse that’s already bursting at the seams(we downsized from our last place, boo) and I just don’t have room for what we already own. There was an adorable sculpture of a dog who, with a little bit of abstract thinking, somewhat resembled mine that I totally wanted to buy. I think it was made with scrapyard metal or some sort of reclaimed materials. Really cool furniture too, and it was 50% off! There were two armoire/chest things I really liked but again, no room for them. =( Maybe some day when my wordly possessions aren’t crammed into four rooms…

Verve on Third is a store featuring artwork from over 100 different American artists. I think there is something for everyone here. There are some very different art pieces. Anything from furniture, wall décor, or pen holders. There is artwork made from wood, paint, glass, metal, and more. A fun store to look at and purchase something different for the artsy person in your life. They are a tad expensive, but that’s because it’s art(I’m not going to go into my reasoning as to why art is expensive. There are good reasons).

I’d feared that Verve wouldn’t find a new home after their old building was sold, but they did and are now ensconced at 227 S. Third St. I checked them out today in their new digs and liked what I saw. The stock is largely the same(similar or the same tiles, mobiles, lazy susans, ceramics and so forth) that were offered at the other shop, but the new space seems to have a bit more elbow room. For example, the old store was pretty tight in the entryway/first space when you initially came in the door; this location eschews that issue. The older lady working today(whom I’d never met) was very nice and genuinely seemed to enjoy being there and greeting people as they came in. I do still wish that more of the items were a bit more within my price range, though there are some reasonable items. Still, there’s a reason the same $ 500 stained glass lightcatchers have been in the window for a year and a half. At any rate, this store still is always on my «must hit» list whenever I’m in Geneva. Check it out for yourself and see why.
