I had the opportunity to try Backdraft at a local food truck day in Johnson City, TN. The food is everything I had heard from others — just suburb BBQ. I had the sliced brisket sandwich with cole slaw. The taste is still with me. I wish they were in the area more often although I hear that make it to Atlantic Ale House on occasion so I will be on the lookout. I really hope to try much more of the menu. the food truck event is not the best way to fully experience a food truck menu as they keep a limited menu due to the size of the crowd and need to quickly deliver food. I will be on the lookout for return visit! I think they visit YeeHaw Brewery in Johnson City as well on occasion. Here is their twitter if you want to try them out as well. @backdraft_bbq Bravo Backdraft and congrats on your opening. hope you do extremely well!!!

I advance ordered some thick cut smoked porkchops stuffed with goat cheese and spinach to pick up for a group of people who had dinner at my house. I can’t say enough good things about those chops — smoky, tender, beautifully seasoned. And the goat cheese and spinach inside the chops made them unique and delicious. Our group was overwhelmed! And the price was very reasonable.

Gate City finally has a decent BBQ pace! For now they are located in the East end of town in the Thriftway parking lot. On weekends they move to the Bustedstillbrewery on Wadlow Gap. Today I ordered their beef brisket dinner. Tender as could be. BBQ beans were good and tasty, the slaw was good, but needed some more salt. Others may not think so, I just like salty food. The dinners come with a cold canned drink. They also have ribs, chicken, pulled pork as well as the brisket. All are smoked to perfection. Monday seems to be their busiest day because the meats have smoked over low heat all weekend. They accept cash and credit cards. I can see more visits to this business in the future.
