Oh my, this place is so good! You get more than Spring Creek gives you. The meat is very tender and all the sides are so tasty! Mgr there is super nice. Baked potatoes are huge! BBQ sauce is really good.

I wont say worst BBQ ever… but it’s embarrassing for Texas BBQ. Even the sides are less than mediocre. Too bad cause I love BBQ and it is right across the street, but I have tried them several times over the last couple years and they aren’t getting any better. The«older» people seem to enjoy it as it is very bland and dull, so as not to upset sensitive digestion systems.(No offense intended Grandma)

My Go-To place for BBQ. The shame is, the Richardson location closed and now I have to go farther for my BBQ fix. Good brisket – well trimmed, sausage, & sides. Sauce is not sickly sweet like most places around here. Brisket is good enough to eat without sauce – now, that’s some good Q! They live up to their motto: «We are not stingy with the meat».

Frontier Fries — oh how amazing this dish is… they give you plenty of cheese, French fries, pork, and ranch bbq sauce. Add your own jalapenos and Pico. Put it all together… and it’s enough for 2 ppl to eat and get full… For a limited time… Get your Frontier Fries… absolutely amazing!!!

Big fan of this store but also the other ones that aren’t around anymore. I used to hit the one on Spring Valley and 75 in the 90s and the one at Sandy Lake and 35 on the way home from the airport. But I really loved this place as it has just the right kind of feel for a BBQ joint. I’m kind of weird but 99% of the time I get the sausage plate. I can’t describe what it is but the sausage and sauce combination here is unlike any other place I’ve tried. It’s simply the best I ever had. It might just be me, but I suspect it’s the sauce. A good, no-nonsense place to put the feed bag on.

Serviceable place for the basics. Nothing here will change your life, but when you want some brisket and sauce this place will do it just fine. The brisket in particular is tender without being too fatty. And the kids(or the kid in you) will love the macaroni and cheese here.

Before I decided on this place I spent a good amount of time on Unilocal looking for BBQ places close to home. I had a craving for a baked potato with brisket and they had them on their menu. The first time I ever had one I was on the way from San Diego, Ca to Sarasota, Florida and stopped over in the Houston Airport. They not only had the hugest potato I ever saw, bigger than a small pumpkin or watermelon, but the most delicious brisket on top. Yum! And surprisingly I didn’t have to mortgage my home or sacrifice my first child for the price, it was very reasonable for airport food. I was disappointed when our return flight routed us through Dallas instead of Houston. Which brings me painfully to this review. If you have to put BBQ sauce on it to make it BBQ it ain’t BBQ in Texas. I was craving one of those famous Texas baked potatoes loaded with butter, cheese, sour cream and BBQ brisket. What I got was good, but it wasn’t what I expected. First of all when you wrap a potato in tin foil and put it in the oven that’s NOT a baked potato, that’s a potato steamed in foil. A baked potato has crisp skin and tastes totally different. I’m not sure what the meat on my potato was, I asked for beef, no pork of any kind. What I got was something that looked like cooked meat that had been put through a meat grinder, not chopped brisket. It tasted like beef but was very dry, but there was none of that smoked beef flavor, or a little of the fat that moistens the brisket, although I did get a good whiff of smoked BBQ when I got out of my car before entering the place. I’m not a big fan of BBQ sauce or sauces of any kind, I prefer my meat naked with salt and garlic but it was so dry I poured the sauce on top to be able to swallow it. The sauce, by the way is on the sweet side but good, I really liked the sauce. I have to say I was pretty disappointed about the BBQ part. I’ve had better tasting BBQ at Spring Creek or Dickies and I’m not a fan of chain restaurants, I guess I expected more, but then they have a few locations too. As for the loaded potato it was good, not saying the food was bad, but when I go to a BBQ place I sort of expect the BBQ beef to really taste like it’s been BBQ’d over hickory and have that flavor in the meat. This potato was something I would expect at IHOP, or Chili’s or some other chain restaurant that processes their food. I was sadly disappointed.

What no short ends and no bread? Expensive as it is, the quality should be better. The ribs were really good but you get about 5 pieces for ½ pound… lower price a little or give more for the money your paying.

Beef dinner w/sauce on the side, fantastic spicy cabbage stew, and mac and cheese for the other veggie choice.

First time to this place. This is a no nonsense dive of a place where you can get a lot of food for your money. Do not expect anything fancy. You order at the counter where they give you your plate of meat and then you serve yourself the«veggies», which range from macaroni and cheese, green beans, or fried okra. I had the ¼ BBQ chicken as the pulled pork(my usual BBQ order) was not ready. My husband had the 2 meat plate, brisket and sausage. The chicken was a little dry but I actually prefer my chicken cooked that way. The sausage was really good and the BBQ is very tangy. Just like we like it. We will be going back.

My wife and I were in the mood for food. We urban spoon’d the closest place to our current location and this place popped up with an 80% positive feedback. We were skeptical when we pulled up as it did not look like a restaurant but a fast food place. We both ordered double meat plates. Chicken and brisket for the accountant and Brisket and Sausage for myself. The smoke flavor was amazing and every bite left me wanting more. Accountant said«The chicken was dry :(but the brisket was off the hook.» I only needed a little sauce to put on to the BBQ which saids alot. Accountant and I both left and were quite satisfied. We will be back again for Brisket!

I was in the area for work and wanted to try a place I hadn’t been to before, so I gave Soulman’s BBQ a shot. I got the sliced brisket and sausage. The sausage was competent and the brisket was nice and lean, but I didn’t find it to have a lot of flavor. The sauce wasn’t my style, but was edible. The pinto beans on the side were average, but not bad. The fried okra was the worst I’ve ever had and was fossil-like. The service was fine, but the price was a bit much for the quality. There are plenty of better places to go for BBQ in the DFW area, so I’d try one of those first.

I have never been disappointed with Soulman’s. I love their ribs, beef and sausage. Clear out the room because the spicy beans and cabbage are my favorite sides! mmmmm good!!!

I was really craving some BBQ and having lived in Garland for awhile, I’m surprised I’ve n ever been here. Of course, it’s way on the other side of town. But it shouldn’t have stopped me from finally discovering it used to be a Burger King, according to it’s entrance doors, which still read Burger King. The drive-thru has been apparently converted into a BBQ machine. When I first walked in, I was surprised how empty it was. But I wouldn’t say that’s a bad sign. However, since it was my first time ordering it did take me a while to figure it all out. I got beef with the bbq sauce. You can serve my own vegetables. The meat is cut right in front of you and served on plate. I wouldn’t eat the cole slaw there. It’s a little dry. I like mine to be kind of wet and more flavory. It’s pretty crunchy though. I don’t know if you like your cole slaw crunchy. I went with my dad. He had the ribs and there were slide off the bone good apparently. It was overall a pleasant surprise. I’ll have to go again and really evaluate the menu next time.

Zounds. I’ve lived less’na mile away from this joint my whole life and have yet to review it. Yes, I will admit my mouth is forever biased to my daddy’s bbq goodness at home, but I still give this place a thumbs up. Tenderrrr ribs! The only bad thing about our meal of 2 pounds of luscious ribs was the Nancy Grace playing over pop’s shoulder that I had to watch. When you’re in the mood for beans [and later, music] nuthin hits the spot like a scoop of Soulman’s spicy beans: they have stewed vegetables and are perfectly spiced. I’ll make it a point to try the cobbler and banana pudding they offer for dessert on another occasion!
