Good service, good food, authentic food. Not a Tex mex place. Looking forward to going there again.

I’m so glad a good friend suggested I try Ernesto’s. Tried it for the first time last weekend. It was so good! The place is super clean and decorated well. The salsa was really good and the service was fantastic. Everyone who came to our table was really nice. Wow, the food! I had the tacos al carbon and they were some of the best I’ve ever had. My friend had chicken fajitas and loved them. The food was brought out in a timely manner and I have no complaints. I’m looking forward to eating there again.

I may have had high expectations from other reviews of this place but I really want impressed. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with chili con carne and was very disappointed, the portion was not worth 9 $ tried the tortilla soup as well and nothing to write home about either, and the food did not have much depth or flavor. It’s not horrible but it’s not as great as alot of people say it is. There are many much better places for much less.

The chicken on the chicken fajitas is awsome. Great seasoning and cooked perfectly. I really loved the sweet tea, it is really sweet. Margarita was also very good and strong. The salsa couldn’t have been better. Didn’t get desert but saw an order of Sophia and looked big and good, will get next time. Waitstaff super friendly and fast. Best part was we saw a homeless man come in and ask for a menu.(He didn’t appear to be homeless due to drugs by appearance, more just down and out on luck). My wife told waitress we would buy him whatever he wanted and she told us the owner was taking care of the guys meal. Very classy by him and definitely will be getting a ton more of my buisness.

Good fresh food served by great wait staff. Loved that the food was served on hot plates. The salsa and warm chips were very good too. I ordered a chili relleno stuffed with ground beef. Not the best I’ve ever had but yummy enough. The creamy chicken tortilla soup was good too.

I’ve had my share of Mexican food and this establishment is by far the best we’ve encountered. Not only was the food fresh and of OUTSTANDING quality, the service was PERFECT. It says ALOT when my «picky-eater» of a husband eats everything on his plate. We most definitely recommend and will return to Ernesto’s!

Ernesto’s is a hidden gem. Authentic Mexican cuisine in the heart of Garland. Food, value, and service is 5 stars. This is a small family owned business that has great authentic Mexican food. As soon as they seat you our server gave us drinks, chips and salsa. The chips and salsa is made in house and taste very crunchy and fresh. Not salty at all like other places I’ve been too. Salsa has a bit of a kick to it but not too spicy. WARNING: These chips and salsa can be super addicting, so pace yourself! The restaurant has a nice authentic Mexican feel with the decorations and music. Its causal attire no need to dress up. For entrees we had the lunch portion chicken tamales with rice and beans. It was coated with cheese and chile sauce. This was such a great lunch special for only $ 6.50 and the portion was filling! The plate came out hot and delicious! The flavors were great, classic Mexican flavors without being too spicy. We also had the Tilapia al Mojo de Ajo it is sautéed with lemon, butter and garlic sauce(three of my favorite ingredients) and paired with rice and broccoli. This is one of my favorite dishes here. Nothing like I had ever had! I don’t think other Mexican restaurants offer this dish. So if you had to pick one item on the menu to order, the Tilapia is the dish to try. You will not regret it! The fish was cooked to perfection. Each bite was full of the garlic buttery flavors and the fish was moist. It is priced at $ 11.95 which is worth it! Portion size was perfect. The service is excellent. She was always checking up on us making sure there was nothing else we needed. She also did a great job at remembering us and thanked us for coming back in. This place is always consistent with the service and quality of food. They bring the food out pretty fast too!

Good, fast AND cheap. This is the holy grail, in book. Meals that will fill your tummy. Service that will warm your heart. Best chips and salsa I’ve ever had. They make their chips in house, and they hit your table warm. I’m glad that they serve their chips unsalted, thanks you guys so much. Perfectly balanced salsa with a hint of sassy spice. Lunch pricing is very affordable. Got a big fajita plate for only $ 7.50. So much food that I had to eat less tortillas so I could have the space to finish my plate. Service was lighting fast and warm. I felt like familia here. My water never fell below half full and I was attended to like royalty.

My wife and I really dug this place. Good hole-in-the-wall atmosphere with a neat little bar. Good chips and salsa and friendly service. Very good food — good Tex Mex. No complaints and straight up yummy! No special details, really — just a solid local Tex Mex joint. I’d eat here again for sure.

A slightly-off-the-beaten-path restaurant that justifiably commands a loyal following. Flat out, it’s the tastiest, most consistent Tex Mex I’ve had in the area for quite a while. You’ll walk away saying«Those were some of the best enchiladas, crispy tacos, etc. that I’ve ever had.» It’s my first choice to take out of town guests who invariably want Mexican food. You’ll also be treated to some the warmest service around. The fact that the owner himself works all positions at the restaurant and has had the same staff for years tells you all you need to know about the pride and caring attitude that is present throughout.

After carefully deliberating on Unilocal over which Mexican restaurant I should choose to quench my insatiable hunger, I finally picked Ernesto’s. My conscious consumerism finally paid off and I was quite impressed with what was offered. The initial server was approachable, friendly, and he promptly guided us to our seats. Ernesto’s was empty so we had the pleasure of having three hosts cater to our needs. They were all very responsive and responded to any deficiencies in our meal. Overall, I was awarded a great first impression and left with an aftertaste that left me yearning for more. Until next time ;)

Greeting was warm and friendly. Chips were fresh and crispy, salsa is fresh, spicy and with a hint of cumino. Guacamole appetizer was THREE huge scoops of green creamy deliciousness. Service is attentive without being bothersome. Puntas de Monterey was astonishing. Chipotle, tomato and something a little sweet… mole? Finally, the Flan was like outstanding. I’m eating it. and I’m thinking NY cheese cake! Interesting.

Ernesto’s is a fast, clean, reasonably priced, and delicious family Mexican joint. I had the lunch special chicken enchiladas in sour cream, and they were divine. Service was top notch, keeping my water glass filled– no small feat. I will be returning soon!

I have to give Ernesto’s 5 stars. Service is certainly 5 star. Food is 4 – 4.5. Value is 5 star. I had the sour cream chicken enchilada and beef enchilada combo. It was today’s special for $ 5.95. The chips were hot, crispy, and tasty. Good, not great salsa. The service is really the best you’ll find at a less than $ 12 per guest restaurant. They deserve their near perfect reputation.
