Don’t expect more than what it is… A great dive bar with great dive bar food and a good selection of beer. Parking isn’t the best but it’s worth the low cost of all the food. It’s a good time.

Food is decent & very inexpensive. Big fan of their garlic fries. Good place to go for a quick bite with your friends & have a $ 10 tab.

This dive bar has been a staple in Garfield for over 30 years. With that being said this place is like a relationship either you love it or hate it!!! I am one who loves this place. Is the food good, hell yessss! But would I call the food great, ehh not so much. The portions are small but you aren’t paying a lot so it equals each other. The food is always fresh and the menu has something for everyone whether you want seafood or meat. I always et the fried clams and some sort of shrimp dish and always always garlic fries. The service gets you ure food and usually is pleasant, just don’t piss anyone off. When the craving calls I love coming just hate when I leave and feel ashamed on how much I order.

This place was a suggestion from friends and I can’t say how much of a surprise it was, in a good way. The place was jam packed, we had to wait to sit. My wife and I opted for a table. The menu is a mix of surf and turf. I had a steak which was good and my wife had fish which she enjoyed. The bill wasn’t expensive either. For some local flavor, I’d suggest this place. Some people were there with their family, kids, mom and dad. Others were older on date night or something. There was even a large group celebrating something in the back. Seems like they hit the mark on many levels.

For years I heard how great this place was so I was very excited to finally go and try this. I have to say that the server was very nice and attentive. The food was ok at best it was not worth all the raves I have heard. The portions were small but the price was small too. The place is small and dark dive bar feel. Not sure if I want to eat sea food at a dive bar. I’m sure it’s one of those places you either love or hate. Good review bad review this place has its following it get packed at certain times and they have been there for many years and will be around for many years to come. This is a place that I would say go with low expectations. Some will love it but it wasn’t for me.

I had always heard good reviews about this place and my friend and I were in a dive bar mood, so we figured we’d take a walk. Everything was fine until about 11PM rolled around, and we were told by the older woman behind the bar«You girls need to pay your tab and get out.» We were kind of shocked at how rude this was, considering everywhere we looked it said they closed at 1AM, and even more rude because we hadn’t even received our tab yet. We were told again«You girls need to hurry up because we’re leaving in 15 minutes».(Meanwhile, a group of guys at the bar were having a great time and were told nothing.) We laid our cards on the«receipt» which literally just had the price we needed to pay, and we were once again barked at that it was«Cash only, so we needed to figure it out.» We looked at each other for maybe two seconds until we were literally yelled at «IT’S CASHONLYSOGODRIVEANDGETMONEY.» We told her we had walked(the woman told us to GETSOMEONETOBRINGUSMONEY) My friend very nicely offered to go walk to WaWa and we were barked at again because«a man had just gotten mugged». So, to recap, their hours posted are 1AM on Friday’s but we were told to «get out» promptly at 11PM, we were told it was cash only even though that is posted in zero places and their ATM«ran out of money», and a person who works AT A BAR told girls who had been DRINKINGATHERBAR to go DRIVESOMEWHERE to get her money. Yikes. Definitely will not be coming back and I feel sorry for the other bartenders there.

I’ve been frequenting DP’s for about eight years now. I’m always anxious to bring new friends here because I’ve never received negative feedback. I, however, have my own negative feedback to leave after an unfortunate trip last night. A friend(whom I’ve gone with several times before) and I showed up… walked in the door and waited… and we waited… and we waited… and we waited. Numerous wait staff, as well as the owner walked by us multiple times without acknowledging us. We stood there for fifteen minutes, waiting patiently, until a man and his son walked in and were immediately acknowledged by the owner. As she was giving them the estimated wait time, she looked at us out of the corner of her eye. After she spoke with them, she turned around and walked away. My friend and I exchanged puzzled glances and decided to leave. As we turned to walk out, the owner called out to us, telling us there was a spot at the bar. We gave a «No, thank you,» as politely as we could and left. Here’s my disclaimer… I’ve never walked out of a restaurant because of people being rude. I’ve left after being told there was an expected long wait, but I’ve never up and left for any other reason. I can understand it taking a minute or two for someone to address you if they’re busy, and yes it was a Saturday evening. But as mentioned, several employees walked past us multiple times and waiting fifteen minutes without being greeted or acknowledged is simply unacceptable. And then to only acknowledge us when you see us leaving? No thank you. I truly love this place… I’ve been coming here for so long and always have a good time. The staff isn’t the friendliest and the owner has a reputation for being rude, but I’ve always focused on the positive and enjoyed myself. I sincerely hope this was a one time thing and I will give them another chance, but this definitely left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Cheap drinks and good food, you can never go wrong with that. The service was good with most of the bar full which is refreshing. There’s plenty of tables in the back and seating at the bar. The menu has lots of great seafood items and of course a few classics like a hamburger for boring people like myself. The burger was fantastic though, my gin and tonic was good. No complaints from me! I’d come back

This place is like a hidden gem of Garfield . The food is out of this world service friendly and well prepared this sea food is what’s expected at a fine dining restaurant not at a small dark restaurant . Don’t let the darkness scare you away once you try it you won’t knock it

I went here on Cinco de Mayo to avoid crowded Mexican places. Everything I had was amazing! From the outside, the place looks kinda shady, but be not afraid! Once you get inside, the place is pretty ok. We ordered a whole bunch of apps like mozzarella sticks, breaded mushrooms, garlic bread, calamari, and onion rings. And let me just tell you that most of the apps are $ 5ish or less. Bar service was fast too! Loved my margarita

It a bit larger than we though. Be prepared to wait for table. The bar service was fast. The food was great. We will be back. The atmosphere feels like a food shack on the beach. Fun and Friendly.

Seafood was the featured menu items, so seafood I ordered, lots of it, high quality, fresh, and CHEAP! Started with a shrimp cocktail that was amazing at $ 3.95, fresh tender shrimps in a tasty cocktail sauce over a bed of lettuce. Shared a plate of amazing Maryland crab cakes made the right way(not loaded with bread crumb filler) served with drawn butter. For the entrée, I ordered stuffed flounder with a side of linguini topped with their garlic laden frame diavalo sauce, the fish was great, and prepared very well, but the stuffing was bland, and I could swear it had mashed potatoes mixed in it, if there was crab in there, it was hiding in the mellow flounder. Considering they serve fresh crab in the cakes and the crab claw cocktail, I was surprised not to find my modest portion to be brimming with bold crab. The only reason I am deleting one star. The staff was brisk, attentive, to the point, not cold, but all business. Definitely will return but not for the flounder.

So lets start off by saying that my experience since the last time I came was a disaster. As you can see below from my pictures, nothing remotely looks appetizing. The French onion soup was very greasy to the point where I could not finish it and ended up returning it. When I did, the waitress looked at me like I had 20 heads like really it wasn’t good? The garlic bread was good of course not the burnt parts. I love seafood, this was probably the worst fried shrimp that I have ever had, I guess that explains why it’s so cheap for $ 3.95, it was like eating hard rocks with an overload of breading. The tortufo for dessert was just simply vanilla & chocolate ice cream with nuts except that it was frozen solid and required a knife for us to cut it. This is the type of place where if you don’t order alcohol, they won’t pay attention to you.

Let’s see, so my husband and I were looking for somewhere to go for dinner tonight. After a few recommendations and reviewing some Unilocal reviews we decided to come to DP’s. We walked in and were seated immediately. The restaurant itself is small, dark, and dated. A big bar to the left and a few table to the right. Their menus are hanging chalkboards on the wall, they don’t give you an actual menu. They have, maybe 20 things on their menu. We tried the fried clams($ 2.95), they were small, both in size and portion. We also had the lobster sliders($ 7.95), 3 sliders, pretty small, drenched in butter! For dinner we had the sliced steak sandwich and the shrimp scampi. Both dishes were under $ 10. The scampi came with a pound of pasta, and 5, literally 5 shrimp! The steak sandwich had good flavor, but the steak was a little over done for me. I prefer more of a medium rare steak. The garlic fries, super garlicky, and yummy. They only take cash, but there is an atm on site! Street parking, but there is a public lot across the street. Yes, this place is a whole in the wall, and yes it’s cheap, but it’s not terrible. Definitely a local spot, lots of locals hanging out at the bar and eating dinner. Enjoy!

Come here for the food, stay for the drinks. You can get an amazing salmon dinner for $ 10. Really fresh slab of salmon, cooked perfectly with a slight char on the side. It comes with a basic salad and some rice. FOr this rinky dink looking and smelling place, it was a steal. Garlic fries? Theyre good, but dont get greedy like me – they lightly pour the garlic sauce on, which resulted in me requesting for a bowl and well guess what i drowned my fries in the sauce. OOPS. The lobster sliders for $ 7 were good, a bit skimp on the meat vs. bread, but they were tasty. $ 4 for a coors was a bit redic, but like i said – come for the CHEAP food and stay for a drink. Choose something from the middle brown slab menu, those are the freshest and most changed daily things they serve. Fight for a seat at the bar, service is quick and its cash only so be prepared(no atm in the bar). Park in the parking lot in the back and save yourself some trouble.
