Premium & high quality meats and delicious house sauces! I love that it’s nice and cozy, not crazy loud and that it’s an authentic Japanese steakhouse. The spicy cucumber complemented the grilled meats that we ordered. We’ll be back!

Omg this place is so good. I ordered the liver sashimi, beef tongue, beef sashimi, kalbi, and bunch of other stuff. This place is not like those cheap bbq places where you dump all the meat on the grill. Overall I like services they provide and the great food! I will definitely come again. This place is very expensive but that is because the quality of the meat is so high. I see that couple people are complaining about the price. If you can’t tell the difference in quality, i suggest you trying out the 9.99 kbbq.

Wow this place is kinda on the amazing side. Traditional Japanese BBQ at its best. Love authentic joints like these.(Apparently Gardena is known for their Japanese Restaurants and apparently it’s better than the ones in LA) #LittleSecret

Have been patronizing Housenka for many years. It is our one and only go to place for Japanese BBQ. We love their thick Beef Tongue, Rib-Eye steaks, boneless Short Rib, Miso Squid, Pork Cheeks, and Chicken Cutlet. Always leave the restaurant feeling satisfied.

My husband and friends whoever come this place never leave without a big smile. Well, the service is not great but because they are very serious about their foods. Their meat quality is highly recommended.

Don’t go here. Seriously. Their service was terrible, I had to ask for soy sauce and napkins and water. I’ve waited 20 mins for my pork fried rice to come out and it was heavily dosed with vinegar. I ordered the Cold noodles and it wasn’t very good. It tasted like cold water and oil. No flavor what so ever. And guess what?!? Would you tip someone who was lousy waitress and services? No. There was only 1 large group of 8 people and then just me and my girlfriend. This young girl who works there, ran outside to me as I was walking to my car, she stopped me for a tip. She really insisted for a tip after I paid $ 20.74 for some food that made me hungrier. She said thats not including tip. Portions are tiny by the way. But the waitress just stood there next to me and pointed out the $ 0.00 on the tip section. She couldn’t speak English or at least I think she couldn’t, she kept pointing at the zeroed out tip I put in. So I said, you want some tip? She said«yes». I ended up giving her $ 2 bucks. She chased after me for $ 2 bucks… I almost gave her $ 1. Screw this place, it’s pretentious, expensive, and tiny portions. And I got haggled for $ 2. Wtf LOL.

Pretty old fashioned Japanese BBQ place, nothing special. Though the variety of the foods, not only the Yakiniku, but plenty of side dishes were really attracting. Not cheap as most other review says, but not that bad for me, when the quality of the food was factored in. I’ll come back to this place rather than going to just cheap all you can eat style restaurant.

My friend suggested this place for lunch last week. When I got there, the parking lot was almost full and I was worried a bit, but they had lots of seats available… I guess everyone else went to other restaurants? Anyhow, I ordered Yaki Kalbi(BBQ beef) ramen and my friend ordered today’s special(Soy milk flavored ramen). Soy milk and ramen? It is interesting… My ‘course’ included a fairly big plate of salad which I was not aware. My friend’s daily special included salad with BBQ beef. Then ramen was served — it was Tokyo-style soy sauce base broth. I liked the broth, but the kalbi pieces on top had a bit too much fat which I did not care for. They were chewy, too. I tasted my friend’s soy milk flavor ramen… it’s still interesting… It was a lot of food for $ 10…salad, ramen, and rice. Maybe I should order something else next time to see if I find something I like. Both the master and his wife were nice and attentive.

What an incredible deal! $ 12 and you get your choice of three things to grill, plus salad, soup and rice. I liked the pork the best — just the right amount of fat. During happy hour, the draft beer is $ 2(for large or small) and the hot sake is $ 1. Amazing!

My last visit here was a few months ago… My friend Noto-san and I decided that it would remain our last visit… Quality of the meat isn’t very good… for those of you who don’t know better… I suppose you might enjoy this… Staff is friendly enough… Better to drive to Anjin or Manpuku… or eat at Furaibo in the same complex

I was standing for 7 minutes waiting to be seated before I left. There was 3 tables and 2 waitresses, and they gave me the cold shoulder. If the menu isn’t in English, and the servers wont greet me, or help me, or look at me, I can get the picture. At least lie about how you’re closing early or something, don’t just ignore someone. Only go if you want to be discriminated against.

Inexpensive and tasty for lunch. Usually I hesitate to go get yakinuku because its so damn expensive. Not this place! If you need inexpensive, come on over!

I come here once in a while when I feel like eating a good Japanese style barbecue in Gardena* Everytime I come here it’s not crowded but today the place felt very alive. Only 2 waitress working here but our food came right away and it was better than I thought. The bill came up to be around $ 60 so it might be a little pricy but the meats are good quality. You get your own privacy sitting at the tables too. If you don’t like waiting in line, I recommend you to go here*

I came here with my family for dinner, and we got seated right away. there was only 2 waitresses for the restaurant which would seem like enough, but a huge party came in and all other tables were soon ignored. we were done for a good 15 mins before we finally got our check. We also had to wait a long time for water and no one comes to check if you need anything else. the meat was good and i was surprised on how juicy the chicken was. i ordered the dinner special which was enough food for me, but im a petite asian girl, i dont think this would be enough food for a guy though! if youre in the mood for yakiniku, this place isnt too bad… their happy hour specials for drinks looked pretty good too!

This is a great Japanese grill, where each table has a gas grill built into the center, and you cook at the table. You can order a variety of beef, chicken, pork, and seafood, but vegetables are a bit limited. The quality of the meats is very high. The restaurant is cozy without feeling crowded and noisy, and the service is friendly.

It’s enjoyable enough. The grilled meats selection is pretty small, but of good quality. Be forewarned – the portions are TINY! I mean it… don’t expect to get full without paying the price. Like Louis N., I also found the place to be cozy and i found the set up rather cute. The seating is great, since it offers a lot of privacy. Overall, it’s a cute place. Overpriced, I believe. There are much better places out there if you’re looking to to grill your own meat. Tsuruhashi of Fountain Valley is one of them.

One star for the price and portions. Add a star for the atmosphere and service. Add another star for the addictive crisp green onions(see ‘Really liked’ below). Wow, I like their setup. The gas grills are set just below the table surface with round ventilation holes on the sides. The grills look elegant and well maintained. This place feels very cozy in a homely way(also very quiet). The place looks spanking clean as well(although a bit sterile in feel), so clean it makes me feel like wiping up every dribble on the table(Aha! A dribble! How out of place, I must wipe it). The dribbles were not all from my saliva unfortunately. A quick run down of meats I had tonight: Roosu beef: Menu says ‘almost no fat’ and I love no fat meats but there were plenty of fat if you ask me. The flavor was slightly liver like in taste and flavorless with no beef satisfaction. I think they’re mistaking«no fat» for«no flavor», seriously. Chicken breast: Tender and juicy, not bad but not extraordinary. Beef Flap: Chewy beef satisfaction you get, but lacking in flavor that I crave from beef flaps. Not bad but just ordinary. a) Really liked! — Green onions, I’m not kidding. Burn them to a crisp until almost all black, dip in sauce and eat, just unforgettable and fantastic(forget the beef, can I have more green onions?) b) Liked: — The atmosphere(great place for a family dinner). — Friendly and fast service. — Offers a variety of special meats not on menu(the waitress will read them off to you). c) Didn’t really like: — Small portions for the price. — Can become expensive for a regular family outing if you are not on a diet. — The meat doesn’t come with much. One sauce and a plate of cabbage. Rice won’t come unless you ask for it. — The meats are either thin or chunky but tiny or just tiny — The gas grilled meats. I ate all three plates alone and even had room to try the Tampopo ramen down the sidewalk, that’s $ 18(of the Housenka food only) poorly spent. I do like the atmosphere but I can’t justify this for a quick meal. What’s that? I used spent $ 60 three times a week for a long time at Shinsengumi yakitori? Well, uh…, that was different, that place was crazy, and such fun, yea I was paying for a way of life there. Yakitori life baby! No., wait, for the food? Ahh., OK. I was nuts back then, I admit it. Now I’m just a behaving dingbat and I don’t care what people say.
