Dr. Nakamoto is an excellent dentist. Our family has been going to him since he took over this practice years ago, none of the work he has done has ever resulted in problems. He is very personable and doesn’t have long waits for appointments. I highly recommend him.

I’ve been going to Dr. Nakamoto for years. He’s great! My whole family goes to him also and I’ve referred several friends to him also. He never does unnecessary work and tells you like it is. He even did some cosmetic corrections to my teeth and my teeth look so much better now. Love his staff, especially Evelynn at the front desk. She will call me and my family to remind us to come in for our 6 month checkup because as many of you know… we sometimes put our dental needs last. I would highly suggest Dr. Nakamoto… he is just a great, reliable, and friendly dentist.

Update September 24, 2009: I went back to Dr. Nakamoto for a cleaning. He has hired a hygienest named Veronica. She is phenomenal. She asked all the right kinds of questions to get me to admit that I don’t floss. I know she knows, so I decided to just fess up. She made some excellent suggestions for me that will make future cleanings easier.(She gave some suggestions about how to get better toothbrush access by changing mouth position and pulling down my lower lip. Who knew?) She gave me some reading information about diabetes and dental care and suggested that I come back in 3 – 4 months. Easier said than done, BUT, Dr. Nakamoto is open on Saturdays. I no longer have to always take time off from work to go! When I first got dental insurance, I went to a dentist in the Marina. He was a crook. He did unnecessary fillings that Delta Dental didn’t want to pay for. It was a long process to not have to pay for all the work that he did. He also hurt me, but that was a different story. Given that bad experience, I wasn’t too interested in going back to a dentist! I had gotten to the point where I felt like my teeth were dirty and I hadn’t gotten them cleaned in a while. I started looking for providers in my area. I found Dr. Nakamoto. His office is only two blocks from where I live. Bonus! Dr. Nakamoto normally does all the work himself. He has his assistants assist. I’m used to having a tech come and clean my teeth and the dentist only come in for spot checks. Dr. Nakamoto works with you from start to finish. I appreciated that. He was careful to explain everything that he was doing. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a personable person. I had chipped a molar a few years ago. A dentist in Santa Monica had fixed the broken edges, but the tooth had weakened. Over the years, the tooth began to decay, so the back part of the tooth was deteriorating. Dr. Nakamoto gave me my options. I ended up getting a crown. He gave me the pros and cons of ceramic vs. metal crowns. I ended up getting gold.(I know it is old school but if it was good enough for my grandmother, I think I can handle the potential side effects. She lived to 100, so it didn’t do her any harm!) I had to do the crown fitting over two visits. I don’t know what kind of magic they worked, but I only ended up paying $ 85 for all of the work that I had done. The office is nice and cool. I usually do my dental work during the summertime, so that is a factor. He has garden areas outside of the exam rooms, so there are nice relaxing areas to look at. The whole place has that clean, almost antiseptic minty smell to it. Everything is clean. He used all natural preparations for part of the procedure. It was super strong, but I appreciated the thought that goes into using a product like that. His office staff is wonderful and always try to accommodate me and my schedule. Even though my plan number had changed, they had already called Delta and updated my benefits. I didn’t even have to notify them. Amazing preparedness and attention to detail. I recommend him to everyone. I know people don’t always want to trust a dentist who has an office in the middle of a residential area, but Dr. Nakamoto is a hidden gem!
