Small, but with a huge selection of children’s books, small play area, and very pleasant staff. They have several computer stations. Overall, not amazing, but good enough for a local library branch.

I really like this library. Its small and modest but the staff is really nice and attentive. I like how they help the kids with their homework. I’ve taken my nieces and they seem to love story time and they really like a young girl who works there. Its a nice place to go to relax eith a good book and I definitely recommend this library to anyone looking for a good book and a nice place to relax!!!

Not too shabby. I wouldn’t say it’s great but its definitely not the worst either. It’s quiet, and humble. Not too big and not too small. The staff seemed pretty nice and although there weren’t a ton of computers there, the ones they had weren’t taken(a benefit of being a small library that’s tucked away). They don’t have the best set up for their CD collection. Most libraries have them on bookshelf. Satow has them on a heavy rotating console. If you want a CD, place it on hold and let someone else try to find it for you. The parking lot was a bit small so be careful getting in and out.

The Los Angeles County Public Library system is the great unheralded treasure of Los Angeles. Since the explosion of internet commerce, most of us have been getting our music, videos and books from on-line vendors like Amazon, iTunes and NetFlix. Interested in saving a lot of money? Got a little patience? Willing to get up off the couch? If you have answered yes, the library is your new best friend. Through the County Library systems easy to use web interface, you can seach the holdings of every library as one massive collection, much as you would serch Amazon. Then, and here’s the really awesome part, you can have that content delivered, for free, to the local library of your choice. There is no limit to what you can check out! Some items, like recent movies, have long waits, but if you like older stuff, you can often get it in a few days. The Masao W. Satow branch is nor my a favorite because of the parking lot and surrounding neighborhood. There always seems to be people sitting in their cars, homeless/rehab folks sitting around and other suspicious-looking folks in the alley behind the library. No one appears to monitor the parking lot and I the few times I used this branch I always worried about my car. I’m a big guy, so my personal safety wasn’t an issue, but I would never send my wife or kids to this library.
