A great place to start off the Lunar New Year! The service was great. If you get a waitress names Barbara, then you are in luck! She has a lot of charisma and very interactive with her guest! The food was what I expected so it reached my expectation! I ordered a Spanish Omelette with extra sour cream.

I’ve been here a few times and the food has been alright. Typical diner food. It’s a nice place to relax and enjoy your lunch but the place looks like it’s been here forever. It has that dark, dank, musty vibe that most diners have. Waitresses seem to be always busy wether they have 2 tables or 20.

Food is good for the price, but services is not that great, but not extreme rude either, but lack of training. The waitress never came by to check if we need something. I have to catch her when she walked by. Instead she was spending a lot of time chit chat, flirting, joking with 4 guys sat behind me. I could hear everything they said. One guy was saying something like«I want a big sausage, how much is it? I mean really big sausage, ya know what I mean»… and blah blah blah, the waitress chic was just thrilled with those sarcastic jokes an laughed at it like it never end. Regardless what happened, there it went to her tips. Sad to do but she only deserve 10% of my entirely bill. As much as I like their food/price, it hard to come back because this is my second time received this kind of services. I think I got treated better at Denny.

Worst breakfast I’ve ever had. Do Not get the country fried steak or biscuit and gravy.

This place is pretty average at best. It’s a typical diner. I’d much rather go here than a Denny’s though if I’m searching for a nice American-style homemade meal. The perks include the fact that it’s relatively inexpensive and that it is in fact open 24 hours. I love their steak and eggs, especially at 3AM in the morning. Service is always good here, even if it gets really busy sometimes. The environment is peaceful, calm, and wonderful. The place is worth a visit for sure.

Items ordered: T-bone steak with fries, and a side of taquitos I like this place, a solid diner. We came here after a long day pretty hungry, and a meal and one appetizer was enough for two. Even though this is American we had a meal similar to a steak meal you would have at a Hong Kong Café in the 626. It was mainly because of the sizzling steak action. The steak was an ok size, around the size and flavor of a Norm’s steak. Meal came with choice of soup or salad, we had the salad… pretty standard. I’m a sucker for taquitos, so I ordered to supplement the meal. On the menu it says 4 taquitos, but we got 6, so that was a nice surprise. Overall this place is in the class of a Norm’s, and it’s always good to know of places that are always open. One thing though, the service was really really slow to start. We sat down and it probably took 5 minutes to get a menu. It also took awhile for them to take our order, but once they did get our order, the food came out fairly quick.

This is a pretty decent place for a little diner! The service on Christmas day was awesome. People were so nice and attentive. I ordered the fajitas breakfast. Pretty good for the price. Not bad at all. We ordered a strawberry waffle for the table to share. Not so good. Nothing amazing but it was alright.

I have been coming to this place for years! Any of their classic breakfast platters are great! I said great, not extravagant! It’s like any typical diner food, but for my friends and I, it’s our go to place. The servers are awesome and they refill your coffee cup so many times, I always lose count on how many cups i’ve had by the end of my meal!

This café is a hidden treasure. Although it is nothing fancy, the food is good, portions are incredible and the price is AMAZING. Plus, it’s open 24 hours. Don’t expect fresh squeezed oj but if you’re drunk at 3am, their chicken fried steak will deliver! The servers are sweet and some of them are funny. Barbara made me feel at home :)

One stop fun shop for your late night munchies! I swear I have been to this place like three or four times already in the last two weeks… that’s what happens when your friends love this place and we have late night meetings for our clubs! If you want a better version of Dennys, here you go! Food: Maes is amazing because there is SOMUCHVARIETY. You can get breakfast food, lunch food, dinner food at any time of the day(THEY’REOPEN24HOURS). My friends and I love to get the MANLYMEAL which consists of a steak, your choice of waffles/french toast/pancakes, eggs(however you want them) and a choice of hashbrowns or lyonnaise potatoes all coming out to be about 16 ish dollars for the whole shebang. Typically I share the manly meal with a friend but my guy friends tend to wolf the whole thing down themselves. It is A TON of food, trust me. But if you’re feeling hungry, manly meal is so much bang for your buck! I usually get a t-bone steak on a skillet, rare, hash browns, with french toast and easy over eggs. The french toast is PERFECT but their waffles are also a big favorite in my group. In the past I’ve also tried other things at Maes besides the Manly Meal, haha! Their appetizers are really good, especially the fried zucchini or onion rings. Their fries that come with steak dinners are really delicious as well. GETEXTRAGARLICBUTTERFORYOURSTEAKS; the garlic butter here is delicious! The only soup I really like here is the cream of corn and clam chowder. I usually go for either a manly meal or a steak dinner, both of which never disappoint. Their strawberry shortcake is also to die for. Service: Great service. The workers are very attentive. I ALWAYS come in a huge party of people and they ALWAYS are so sweet and accommodating to all of our dumb requests. The place is open 24 hours but they always serve with a smile. Location: In a plaza with InNOut and Brodards so parking is a little tight but go around a couple times, you’ll find a spot. Inside, there’s plenty of booths and tables. I go late night so I rarely have to wait TOO long. Morning wait isn’t bad either, maybe 15 minutes or 20 if it’s super crowded. All in all, I’ve stopped going to Dennys and totally put my heart into Maes because I can’t resist their manly meals and THEFOODISJUSTSODAMNGOODANDCHEAP! :) My favorite late night, early morning place.

Mae’s menu is perfect for lunch. the porkchop here is very satisfying, you will gonna love that soft juicy pork meat. it also has that nice sauce on it, I call it sauce but its the liquid around it. Even just a peek of this gorgeous pork makes me hungry. You can also have their damper platter if you prefer not to have any pork meat. The damper platter would surely satisfy you.

One of the waitresses is so rude. I think she might be in charge or something, since she kept yelling at the cooks in the back. It was so unprofessional of her to be yelling at them in front of the customers. We heard her say, «CHITCHAT, CHITCHAT, STOPTALKINGANDSTARTCOOKING» and other rude things throughout the night. When a table asked how much longer their food would take, she went to the back and screamed, «HEY, THEYWANTTHEIRFOODNOW.» We could hear one of the people at that table say, «I hope they don’t spit in our food because of her.» She also wasn’t very friendly to us either. Not sure what happened to the woman who used to work late nights on the weekends. She was really sweet and helpful. Bring her back!

This place is disgusting! I’ve tried almost everything on this menu, only because it used to be my go to place for late night after drinking. They are the only ones open 24 hours and they are walking distance, so I could walk if I was too drunk to drive. Anyway, most of the food here is gross. It’s either burnt, greasy, dry, overcooked, or all of the above. I just had to stop going here, because the food is not super cheap, and I eventually decided that I refuse to give 10.00 — 15.00 of my hard earned money for crap! With all that said, they do have a couple decent items on the menu. Their Mae’s favorite Melt is actually pretty good. It’s grilled turkey cheese and avocado. The other item is the mozzarella sticks, but the marinara is gross, it has little bits of meat in it and tastes sweet with a bit of cinnamon. Gross! So, if you take it to go and have your own marinara at home, fine. Otherwise skip these and get the Mae’s Melt. Actually, just skip this place altogether! There are so many better restaurants out there.

To me this is my fav spot for family owned American style dinner. Their steak is bomb and so cheap I cant complain lolz. Sizzling T-bone meal for $ 14 !? Come on now!!! I loved it that they are really friendly and remember you and your order when you just stepped in(or Im just there too often !!!) Actually the other day I tried their pie for the first time and I was surprised bcuz it was one of the best blueberry pie I have ever had, with eyecream ofcouse

Solid place for a midnight snack or entire meal or dessert. Especially as the first meal on your birthday. Ice cream and pie at midnight equals major food comerz. The menu has a lot of different stuff compared to Denny’s. Service was interesting, but friendly I suppose. Tis a pretty comfortable diner that I would enjoy chilling at and spend all night ordering everything.

We waited for 40 mins for one plate of food. A man entered the restaurant 10 mins after we were seated. They took his order before us and he got his food before us and he left right after. It was like we were not even there. The lady told us two mins after we waited that the food would come and still didn’t come. The only time they noticed us is when we decided to leave near the door That’s when they were like food is ready. In the end we just walked out on the food and didn’t pay.

Possibly the best local diner around! This place has been around for a long time and I can see why! The décor inside reminds me of an old school diner sticking to what it might have looked like years ago. The ladies that wait/serve you are extremely nice and always have jokes for days. The food is here spot on! Portion sizes are big for the price that you pay for. You can get breakfast, lunch, or dinner items any time of the day so if you’re craving definitely come here. Everytime I go here I get the egg dishes. The egg dishes come with your choice of entrée(I get the sirloin steak or pork chops), 2 eggs, hash brown or lyonnaise potatoes, and a side. The steak has a good char on the side and is a decent size. It’s not the best steak but it’s better than all the diners I’ve been to. Eggs are always fluffy. My side was a biscuit and gravy which was a nice, big portion. The thing that sets this place apart is the lyonnaise potatoes. GETTHIS. Way better than hashbrowns or any potato dish for that matter. Thinly sliced potatoes cooked with herbs, seasoning, and onions that is cooked on the flat top. Nice and crispy from that flat top sear while still being soft and fluffy. The flavor is AMAZING! If I can just eat this I would. Another notable is the Manly Meal deal which is $ 15 dollars for a massive amount of food. A choice of NY steak or t-bone steak, 3 eggs, hashbrowns or lyonnaise potatoes, and pancakes or waffles or toast. If you are looking for something to fill you belly, this is for you. Overall, a must try local diner. Cheap food, big portions, and good service. What more can you ask for!

I have lived here close to Mae’s almost all my life, yet have only gone a handful of times. I find it to be just okay food. There are so many choices down Bolsa that open late that I just head over there. For American diner food, I still like Denny’s a tad better, mostly for their buffalo wings and sandwiches. This used to be called Jon’s Café and never closed as well. I also do like their steaks better than Denny’s. Sometimes the service is very slow, but it feels a lot more homier than a franchised Denny’s. The lights are not bright like Denny’s and it’s fairly away from the street, so people don’t really look at you when you’re eating. Overall, I had decent experiences there and I would go there once in a blue moon.
