I’ve been to Anthony’s Lucky Duck, at least, ten times. I’d say nine of ten were perfect. For appetizer’s I’d recommend Meatball Parm Sliders and the Fried Calamari, which I order every time I go. There is a difference between fresh, handmade calamari, perfectly fried so there is a light crispy crust and a tender inside. The frozen counterpart has the quality of speed rack. For dinner, I usually get the Linguini Bolognese or the Seafood Fra Diablo, and both have been exceptional. The Bolognese is not a traditional sauce, but it’s far superior to the meat sauce found almost everywhere else. The last time I was there, I found the meal and service to be slightly below what I was accustomed to, which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. But in fairness, we are early for dinner. You may want to bring a cushion for the hardwood benches if you have lower back issues. I have always found service to be above average.

We won’t be coming back. The tomato sauce was overcooked, not fresh, with soggy, overcooked linguine, not al dente. The mozzarella cheese on our entrees was hard and rubbery, must have been part skim mozzarella rather than whole milk mozzarella. Chicken parm was dry, eggplant rollatine not good, chicken marsala flavorless. The service was bad, after being seated we waited a long time to order, water was not brought to the table until after the entrees were finished.

Been going here for 20 years. Consistently great food and service. Appetizers: My favorites are the Mussels Marinara and the addicting Fried Calamari. Pastas: Farfalle San Remo is my all-time favorite in the Restaurant. I enjoy cooking and the recipe would seem so simple(chicken, sausage, escarole in a garlic broth), but as much as I try, I can’t duplicate how good it is there! Try the Seafood Ravioli’s if you are looking for something more rich. Entrées: Chicken Francese always outstanding, and it would be hard to find better value than Roasted Chicken dinner for $ 15.95. I live in NYC now, but always try to come in when I am on Long Island. Yes there are great restaurants in the city, but hard to come across those that have both the same charm and quality as Anthony’s Lucky Duck.

Ok … So the reviews I read about this place seemed to be either people loved it … Or they didn’t…(Some hated. It.) We didn’t love or hate it. It was — at best — mediocre. and we all agreed to this as first timers… Started the meal with appetizers of the famous baked clams, excellent, fried zucchini, v good and something else(I forget…) All were very good, clams definitely were the best of that bunch. Meals ordered for the main course were — 1 special. Pork chops in a brown gravy with zucchini.(Tasty). Another — veal parmigiana — AWFUL. Zero flavor. Zero. Sauce had absolutely no flavor at all. Another ordered the filet of sole — just ok… Dessert was a Tartufo. Ehhhh… Again, little flavor … And a cannoli. Served as chips and the cannoli filling. Was just ok. So all in all — at best this is 3 stars. Being generous. It’s certainly cheap enough and the service was fine. I just have to say, the marinara sauce was utterly flavorless. I was quite surprised.

A good down home Italian, good food, good prices and amazing service. The chicken parmesan is fantastic, a big portion and very tender and moist chicken. The chicken marsala is excellent as well. If you like fish we loved the stuffed sole, it was really well done and more than any one person could manage, full of shrimp and vegetables, it was fabulous. The platters are huge and they all come with choices of different potatoes, rice and vegetables that are really prepared well. Dessert? Well, frankly it’s worth coming here just for the peanut butter mousse pie, to die for! Or the tiramisu, or the tartufo or… You get the idea! The best thing about the place is the atmosphere and service, the wait staff can’t do enough to please you! Once here you don’t want to leave! Highly recommend.

There is practically no air conditioning. You will sweat through dinner. They have no butter, just some fake oil spread for the bread. The manager claims the cook uses that spread to cook with. Yeah, right. Poor service from apathetic staff. I wouldn’t book a party here again. I usually have diarrhea every time it get home after eating here.

Overall the food here is decent but used to be much better. I used to come here frequently and would often get the stuffed sole, which was absolutely delicious, filled with fresh seafood, and I’d always have leftovers. After getting it recently, the portion is smaller and I noticed imitation crab meat in it versus fresh crab meat. It still tasted fine but not as good as it used to be. Their other seafood dishes, pasta dishes, and salads are decent. It is nice to see they still have the same delicious pizza bread that comes in the complimentary basket. Service is a bit slow, especially when the waitresses stand and chat with regulars(I’m assuming) when you need something from them.

Went the other night with my boyfriend and my mom. Had a great waitress and a wonderful meal. It’s unfortunate it’s not more busy as I enjoy their food! There was a group at the bar when we came in, but other than them, there was only one table. I ordered the Farfalle Pezziel(spelling?) and it was amazing! I almost finished that dish and believe me, their portions are large! My boyfriend had ravioi LI and meatballs which I thought we’re okay. But my mother also enjoyed her meal as I had, it was the Angel Hair Dimitri. We also used a Groupon, which the waitress was very accommodating with when we had a problem! Highly suggest.

We went to the Lucky Duck, wanted to try a new place. The service was very slow. We were placed at a table near a noisy group. The food was just OK. Considering all of the good restaurants in the area I would not recommend this place.

Good good only reason why I didn’t rate it with 5 stars is because they stopped selling the rainbow cookie cake. Other then that good food big portions.

I love this place, the food is always great. The servings are huge as well. You always get your money’s worth at Lucky Duck. The stuffed filet of sole is amazing, you must try it. Service is a bit slow, but its always worth the wait!

Okay, when just the two of us go here, we always order the same wonderful dish — Prince Edward Island mussels with white sauce over linguini. It is so good! This is a great neighborhood place. Always filled with families having good food and conversation! If we are here with our extended family we venture to other parts of the menu and are not disappointed. While the wait staff may turn over frequently, the management and the kitchen is consistently good and ready to please! The bus men who have worked there for years are AWESOME!

I love this place! My family and I have been coming here for years. Now I come here with my husband for date night! The food is consistently delicious! We had my aunt and uncle’s 50th wedding anniversary here in September of 2013. Everyone was talking about how good the food was!

What an utter disgrace of a business. My family has come here for numerous dinners and have thrown 5 parties here throughout the years. Unfortunately, the quality has decreased with every visit. Even worse, the customer service is just downright pathetic. I have held my tongue until now. This comes on the heels of my nephew’s Christening party which we booked months ago(documents and all). Unfortunately, we received a call this past week informing us that our reservation was canceled due to it being Mother’s Day weekend. When told that we had already sent out invitations and the party was a week away, they said that they have to think of their«best customers first». Considering the amount of money we’ve given over the years, the response was not just cold, but offensive and unprofessional. Due to their ineptitude and coldness, we may have to reschedule the Christening. Truly, a disgrace. In closing, Mediocre food that has become progressively worse Horrendous customer service Inept management

I hadn’t been here in years. I used to go to The Lucky Duck as a kid and had my 16th birthday party here. I went w/family last week and it was still as I remembered a cozy place to eat w/good food. The server was very pleasant and made us all feel welcome. I ordered a Caesar salad to start which was very fresh and delicious. I could tell the dressing was made in house. I also had the stuffed sole which was also fantastic. Expect to take home doggie bags because the servings are huge.

Three stars for the food and negative stars for the atrocious service. Our waitress was rude and seemed borderline hostile for no apparent reason. We didn’t take it personally because we saw her treating her other table the same way. It was the most awkward disconcerting service ever. Maybe it’s time for lucky duck to reevaluate it’s employees.

My family has been coming to this restaurant since I was a little kid. It’s the go-to gathering place for our holiday dinners and they’ve never failed to accommodate our large parties of 16+ people. The faces coming to celebrate holidays here with us have changed over the years. But, the consistent quality of the food has not. Most service at this restaurant has also remained consistently good over time. It’s classic Italian-American fare. Nothing too fancy. But, totally recognizable as something Nonna would have served. And therefore recommended.

So at first I didn’t know what to make of the Lucky Duck. The dining room is a bit dated and wait service was not the friendliest. I don’t mean that they were rude but it wasn’t the usual bubbly, college girl big grins that you get at most restaurants. Just kind of here’s your table, theres the menu, what are you drinking. Double surprised to open the menu and see it was an Italian place. We ordered the calamari appetizer for starters. When it got to the table it wasn’t anything special. Little dip in the sauce and pop a piece in my mouth. Fantastic! Second best calamari I have ever had. My wife thought the same. Super crispy but not over done. Really, really good. Even my 2 year old ate it up. My wife ordered the shrimp scampi. Shrimp was cooked perfectly. Good flavors and the side of green beans were great. Her only complaint was she ordered a side of pasta and after she wished she had gotten a side of rice. The pasta was good but the red sauce and the scampi didn’t jive. I had the grilled chicken with mozzarella, tomato, and basil in balsamic vinaigrette. Out of this world. Cooked perfectly, great flavor not over seasoned or too strong. My little guy had spaghetti and meatballs. He ate it without complaint so it get an A+ from me. He also got a free sundae for desert. They bring out sprinkles, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream and he was able to add what he wanted. He got a kick out of it. I had the warm apple crumb with vanilla ice cream and my wife had the Mississippi mud pie. Both were very good. It was magician night which we though would be neat for our kid but it turned out to be more mentalist type stuff and less rabbit in the hat, nothing up my sleeves. Very entertaining but only to those over age 10 – 12. By the end of diner our waitress had warmed up, our bellies were full, and we were satisfied with our meal. We will definitely be back again. The one thing that would have gotten the fifth star out of me is a better beer selection. The only local beer they had was pretty run of the mill.

walked in here on a Sunday afternoon and it was really busy but luckily we were seated right away. We weren’t too hungry so we ordered entrees right away. I ordered the special of the day which was Talapia Oreganata that was beautiful baked in a lemon scampi sauce and just perfection. The fish was cooked perfectly and the crust gave a nice crispy contrast to the flakey fish. Probably one of the best fish meals I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Would definitely recommend this place to any of my friends who are near the area.

I’m surprised that the lucky duck only got 2.5 overall stars. I’ve never had a bad experience here. My family and I have been to the lucky duck for numerous occasions including confirmations, christenings, birthdays, and even a rehearsal dinner. I always order this dish that contains shrimp, angel hair pasta, goat cheese, chunks of tomatoes and basil, and its in a wine sauce. This is the first time I was ever introduced to goat cheese which is crumbled on top of the pasta. Wow this meal is mind blowing crazy good. I recently tried goat cheese on its own and convinced myself to never eat it unless I’m at the Lucky Duck. The service is always great; they also do take reservations. They have a parking lot less than half a block away because at first sight you would wonder where you’re going to park on the ever so crowded street. Lucky duck is definitely a gem in the area. I am 22… I can say I’ve been going for over 15 years now. This spot has great food, and the inside is family welcoming. The bathrooms are downstairs, along with some arcade games(great for the kids). They serve a bread basket as well which never hurts! One person said in her review(and I quote) «My husband had chicken parm that tasted like burnt cardboard, and I had a pasta primavera that tasted like Pasta-roni with leftover vegetables from the Chinese restaurant across the street». I totally laughed when I read this. Maybe something else pissed this girl off that led her to write that and leave a 1 star review. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and it’s true that everyone gets a bad meal here and there, but both of them? really? Any who I doubt that to be true. It pisses me off to see a good spot like the Duck get an underrated 2.5 stars because people just want to write silly things. C’mon shape up, Unilocal is for those who tell the truth!
