Past by this place a lot of times because if you blink, you will miss it. Joined my son and his girlfriend after church for lunch and since he was buying, hey why not. I ordered the giant baker with meat and it was a really big baked potato with bacon, cheese, chives, butter and some sour cream. I had the pulled pork as my meat with a side order of fried okra. It was very tasty and worth the trip out there. The Southern sweet tea was great and the free ice cream hit the spot afterwards. They were unfortunately out of brisket and this was at 2:15. Would definitely visit again to try something else.

All this down with Dickeys reviews are wrong. I have ate here multiple times and NEVER had a meal I didn’t enjoy. In Fact i been there 4 times this past week and I have an amazing meals. For one thing is the BAKERS are amazing. Perfect for when you need your body to be all warm with this gosh darn blizzard coming. And I tell you i get the lean chopped brisket everyday. It makes me wanna smack my wife’s butt when i get home. I have ordered those family packs and I will tell you we had leftovers to fill us up. Mission is NOTHING to compare to this. I asked the nice man who works in the morning, you know the one who gives out those cards if this was a franchises. And he said yes. I support and only eat at restaurant that don’t have major corporation. I like to know where my money is going. The nice man is so pleasant. i gosh darn dam if you all be hating on my dickeys. Forget the other locations the other locations this is the place to go. It is a diamond in the rough. I really hope they do a baker special just for the location. Now don’t getting on me, I’m an 84 yr old man who still kicking because I eat Dickey’s BBQ in Gambrills at least four times a week, Now stop hating on my BBQ place and go get some BBQ. GOD don’t like ugly

The lean brisket is not and the portions are small compared to Mission BBQ. Others in the area do it better.

Came here on the recommendation of my gremlin. He received a certificate for the Honor Roll and asked if he could redeem it. The young lady at the counter was very hospitable and patient as we had that first timer smell about us. The portions are decent and all of my items were hot and fresh. While you are waiting you can enjoy free ice cream in a cup or cone. I thought this was a nice touch and if you’re impatient; it’ll definately take your mind off of the wait. My wait was minimal and my order was brought to me and I was encouraged to return. You’ve got a deal! I will venture back to try the brisket and other meat options. The bbq sauce wasn’t overpowering and made everything taste better. It was good food to begin with and the bbq sauce just enhances all of the smoky goodness. The ribs were tender and the sausage had a good texture and creamy cheese taste to it. The onion tanglers were so good! I could envision putting a few on top of some brisket or a burger to give it a different perspective. The dining areas were clean and the parking is shared by many of the other shoppes in this small business district on Route 3.

I am very pleased with my first time visit. Oh yeah check the Crofton circular for coupons to Dickey’s. I went with a big bbq plate which was a sandwich with your choice of meat and two sides. The bbq was good and the sides of mac n cheese and fries were good. I went with no sauce on my sandwich as I like to taste the meat instead of it being overpowered the sauce. I decided to go with carryout on my way back to work. The meat was tender and had a hint of smoke and was very plentiful on my sandwich. I am sure many of you have had the experience of having way more bread than meat on your sandwich but this was not the case with Dickey’s. This is why I was so pleased with my first visit. The food was good but it was also the fact that on top of my coupon I was offered a military discount without even asking. I truly appreciate this and I am sure the Anne Arundel Police Officer who was in front of me appreciated the discount also. It is something as simple as offering a discount that takes customer service to the next level. It was not something that had to be done but it was done. I thank you David and for you showing me that customer service is not dead and there are people willing to go beyond.

Best fried okra anywhere around, excellent barbeque, generous portions. Lean ribs — best I’ve ever eaten. I eat there at least once a month. The people who work there are very nice and remember the customers.

I haven’t written a review in awhile… but eating their food prompted me to write this review. I wanted to try this place out since I saw a commercial for this place. I told my hubby that we should try this place instead of the usual chain, Famous Dave’s. Big effin mistake. BTW– This review is for a carryout order. Maybe it’s different when you eat there, but take out was horrible. Nasty.AF. Let’s start with the the«buttered» rolls. It was nothing but hard triangular hockey pucks. I thought rolls were supposed to have yeast in them but I don’t know if these were rolls from the following day but it was disappointing. Rolls from the Pillsbury can will beat this in a blindfold test. I could probably play paper football with them if I had larger hands. The brisket was lukewarm, thin, GRAY and bland. It looked NOTHING like the pictures. Yes, I understand that you need to put some sauce on yer brisket, but seriously? Processed deli meat from Safeway could beat this. I understand that their brisket is smoked overnight, but seriously, feed me the stuff from last night? WTF. I swear it looked like roast beef from the deli. The potato casserole, I was expecting something similar from the Cracker Barrel. Nope. I got me some mashed potatoes with some cheese on it and green onions. C’mon Man! Lukewarm. The BBQ beans, pretty lukewarm. It was decent, but(here I go again comparing with the canned foods), but Bush’s Baked Beans taste the same. Do yourself a favor, stick to Famous Dave’s. Trust me, it’s worth the drive to Columbia or even Annapolis than this place. Or even Mission BBQ. I just hate it when you spend good money for some decent grub before the football games and you get crap. Unless you like lukewarm, bland ass food, do your business with them. Never.Ever.Again.

Took the kids here on a Sunday for lunch. They offer free kids meals on Sunday and free soft serve ice cream which was a bonus. I had a three meal plate with pulled pork, chicken and jalapeño cheddar sausage. It came with two sides. Overall, the chicken was my favorite and the kids had chicken and Mac n cheese. Both kids ate their entire plate which is no small feat for them. Definitely recommend!

Disappointing. Tried this place numerous times and they just don’t have it when it comes to bbq. The brisket is always dry and the pork doesn’t leave much to be desired.

Had pull pork sandwich special. Sandwich and two sides with Fountain drink extra large $ 9.99. The pork was really moist and lean. Macaroni and cheese and baked beans are some of the best I have had at a barbecue place. And staff was very friendly and helpful. And to make you feel like a kid after your meal they have a self-serve custard ice cream machine where you make your own cone!

This place is the real deal. First, let’s address the fact that their pulled pork is smokey and moist — the best I’ve had in Maryland. The brisket and ribs are just as good, but I’m a pulled pork girl so that’s what I get. Next, they back up their delicious barbecue with a cast of amazing sides. They have fried okra. Do you know how rare it is to find okra on a menu around here? Okra is the realest southern veggie and, to me, cements Dickey’s status as the best around. They also have creamy mac and cheese, spicy beans, and tangy coleslaw. Then, as if I wasn’t already in a food coma, they give you free soft serve ice cream at the end of your meal. I barely made it through this review without a nap. Seriously, go to Dickey’s.

I have given this place multiple chances to prove my first experience was an anomaly. Fail. Ribs are consistently dry and over cooked. Far from fall off the bone. Best items I have had include the pulled pork and a few of their sides. Ribs are terrible and inconsistent. I’m done.

Hungry for a quick lunch in Gambrills we had to choose between the nearby Five Guys and Dickey’s. We thought this was a locally owned place, but, it turns out to be a franchise chain outlet. No matter, our lunches were very good. From the brisket sandwich to the pulled pork our selections were very good. For a quick pick, this place served up a decent lunch, served hot and pretty good on flavor.

I love Dickey’s. Not happy that they do not have baby back ribs but the way they do St. Louis ribs is just right. I usually have my ribs with the sauce on the side and dip them in when needed. The first visit to Dickey’s was actually in Texas. I loved there ribs and was shocked to see that there was one that was close to me. When I got back from Texas I went to Dickey’s and have been going back ever since. I highly recommend this establishment if you have a taste for BBQ ribs. Have eaten here on Sunday(where kids are free) twice now and it’s been enjoyable. You can’t beat the free ice cream at the end of the meal. As far as Barbeque it’s fine. A little dry but they have a warm sauce dispenser there. The help is ok… you really need to know what you want before you order. But, the price is good and did I mention the FREE ice cream? That alone is reason to take your family there. :)

I’ve come to the conclusion that advertising BBQ is a great marketing ploy. You know why? A lot of people are inclined to try a BBQ joint at least once and if it’s good, they may be on to something. Operative word: G-O-O-D. Is there a more hit or miss cuisine at restaurants than BBQ? Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is located in a nice little shopping center in Gambrills, which is a couple minutes from Bowie. It’s a few doors down from Brewster’s Ice Cream shop. The décor is basic except for the flat screen tv and the sports posters. A unique touch that they incorporate is an ice cream machine, which is free to indulge in. Turns out that the ice cream machine actually makes soup because it melts instantly. Service is basically ordering and paying at the counter. The menu is a little confusing and the wait staff probably gets tired of having to explain how to order whatever you want. Regarding the food… SWINGAND A MISS! I ordered the beef brisket meal that comes with the choice of two sides(I chose mac & cheese and fried onion wranglers) along with a pickles and a roll. The brisket was somewhat tender but lacked seasoning. The BBQ dipping sauces were weak and watery. The fried onion wranglers were Dickie’s version of onion straws/rings. They weren’t amazing but decent. The portion size is pretty generous… probably because it’s a pretty inexpensive product. The mac & cheese was a fail. It was basically mac & cheese soup. At least there was a little bit of cheesy flavor. Prices are a little inflated considering the food quality. All in all, Dickie’s is just another BBQ poser. I’ve read that they’re actually a national chain so hopefully their other locations make better food than this spot.
