Hope they are not the only engraver on the Island. Walked in and the door makes a pretty loud chime. I could hear people talking, so I waited. and waited… and waited. Then 2 «ladies» appeared and promptly sat down to chat and have their lunch. They saw me standing there and didn’t even ask me if I needed assistance. After 10 minutes I left. Won’t be back.

Always such a friendly staff, and great service. At one point called in an engraving upon a wooden surface and the lady that I called was very accommodating. I think the prices are fair as well. Also, I must add the speed in which they can actually finish your stuff! Great job.

I absolutely love working with the crew at Treasure Island. They are creative, responsive and their work is beautiful. Our organization, recently announced the winners of its inaugural 2010 Open Source Awards program, recognizing individuals, projects and deployments for their role in advancing the adoption of free and open source software in federal government agencies. Well one of the plaques created by Treasure Island is hanging in the White House, yes the White House! Thank you Treasure Island for the beautiful work! I would recommend you any day.

This is where my office gets all of their engravings done for plaques. And the plaques themselves always turn out great. One of our favorites to do is the acrylic plaque that is clear(the heart shape seems to be popular) and can be engraved. They move pretty quickly and the job is well done. Had I never been in their store, I would’ve probably given them a five star rating. The quality is fine, but it is the other stuff that makes me re-iterate that this just wouldn’t fly in Houston. The store is cluttered. In a way that reminds you of a really bad antique store. There is just stuff everywhere. And it is kinda made me feel claustrophobic. Then there was the matter of getting the invoice. I’d already called ahead to tell them when I was coming by to pick up the plaque. And since I’d ordered it a week in advance, you’d think that the invoice would be ready to go. Nope, instead, they had to type everything into the system in front of me while I’m nervously looking at the clock and trying to calculate how I’ll finish all my errands on time before the party starts. The service was friendly(most people are in Galveston), so kudos for that. The store just kinda feels like something from an old Western – it feels a bit dingy, a little worn down, and a little out of date. Regardless, they may be the only game in town and since they do such a great job, we’ll continue to use them for all of our future awards.
