Great place. Our first time there and they treat you like a regular. Shawn is fantastic. Great bartender. Fast and friendly. We absolutely will go back. You should too.

I’ve only physically been inside this place once — for a shot of «anything good, bartender’s choice» on a girl’s night out. I didn’t even know they had food. However, a few weeks after a co-worker of mine said he was ordering take out for late lunch/dinner from this place and said it was delicious. I went ahead and ordered, even though I already ate my lunch for the day. I needed an afternoon snack. I ordered the Irish Nachos — delicious cheesy covered waffle fries with minced meat and bacon bits on top. I ended up ordering this twice in one month(which is a lot for me because I usually bring lunch to work).

great german style comfort food, great bartenders and great beer. All this place is missing is having Das Boots for the german beer! Munich bar and KIng’s on the mainland have them, this place would have a 6 out of 5 star rating if they just had Das Boots

Neat place with good selection of all types of beers(Pilsner to Stout). Drank a dunkel. Ate sauerkraut balls, German potato salad, and a great elk brat. Dog friendly but not in a bad way. Good staff, little busy today, but all good. Enjoyed it and look forward to going back someday. Pricing was fair and portions enough to share.

We were a little shocked with how we were treated for a Sunday brunch, or any day really. After three members of our party, all veterans, had finished their breakfast at the bar they joined me and my 12 month old little boy outside. We were told several times we needed to order to sit outside, which we explained they literally just finished their meal. They made a huge deal out of this and had to check with management several times to see if they could serve us. To appease the staff we tried to order drinks which apparently wasn’t allowed for another half hour. When that time came, it took us another half hour to get a server to stop and she tried to get another server who spoke better English. We ordered two drinks and two Bud Lights and finally decided we didn’t feel welcome so we would leave. Another half hour passed before we could get our tab. Which we decided just to leave $ 40 in cash for our $ 23 dollar check so we wouldn’t have to wait for change. As we began to leave, a small cooler I had with some bottles for my son opened and spilled. As I cleaned the ice and retrieved the bottles another person, suggesting he was a manager, said it was a $ 10k fine for them if we had outside food or drinks. I promptly informed him that we were leaving and his response, because I guess he was caught off guard was, «well good!». I grew up in the service industry and worked doing everything from dishes to bartending and even restaurant management. This was easily one of the worst experiences of my life. So much so that even 12 hours later I was driven to write this review. Pretty pathetic. My son turned 1 the day before which was why we were down there trying to have some fun!

TURNOFFTHECOUNTRYMUSIC! You can’t be a German burger beer party place on a tropical island in a historical district and play sad sad country tunes. Food is good. Location is good now change the station.

Mostly an outdoor venue. Nice appetizers, good long pretzels with sour sauce dipping. Good German beers. Place was crowded with Social Workers in town for a conference, but service was good. Not a place to go to when weather is bad; small indoor seating. Manager/owner(?) helped with service and made sure everyone was doing OK. Had a nice Shepard’s pie; wife had some good bratwurst.

I like the food here. Had bangars n salad. All the sausages are made by the restaurant. Price is reasonable also. They even had games for the guests. The only problem is the crowd gets loud n rowdy.

What a great place meet owner Danny and Eric, great guys, turned us on to some fantastic beers. Staff and owners make you feel very welcome, like you have been going there forever. Sausages and most everything else scratch made on premise s including mustard and pickles. Elk sausage is Amazing! A definite destination!

Best place on a beautiful fall day to have a beer outside. Great beer, great music, great atmosphere. Oh and football on outdoor TV’s. Not eating today. Sauerkraut balls are worth a try.

Was referred to this place by a friend who has a buisnees around the corner from this gem. What an awesome little German tavern! They offer indoor or outdoor seating. We opted to sit outside by the rockwall waterfall. Cozy ambiance and a view off all the passerbys on The Strand. They have an extensive, impressive beer & wine selection and the food is quite authentic and soo good! My husband ordered the traditional Bratwurst and sour kraut and said it was delicious. I went with the German nachos just out of curiosity alone. I was not disappointed! We were both stuffed and still went home with substantial to go boxes. So be prepared… you get a lot of food no matter what you order!

So gooooooood. The food is just absolutely delicious and the drinks are so yummy. It is dog friendly, which I love. My sweet pup and I got dressed up and went out for dinner and drinks. They brought water for her and everyone was really nice. Prices are reasonable.

Website said happy hour from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. When we arrived the waitress tells us their is no happy hour… pretty close to $ 40 for three drinks and no food … live on the island and we will not be coming back … We are regulars at Olympia grill on Pier 21 and they have the best happy hour in Galveston

We just wondered up on this place and had a great time with a good band, good food, and good music. We got the hot Bangers and Mash to eat with Warsteiner, and Stutt Punch to drink. Great place to hang out.

I had such high hopes for this place but overall I was just not impressed at all. First of all, our food was super greasy! Trust me, nothing we ordered was healthy by any means but it does not have to be that greasy either. Both my husband and I could not even finish our appetizers or entrees due to the excess grease our food sat in. The server was not all that friendly either. I felt like she was rushing us to order even though we barely any time to review the menu, I felt like she was impatient when asking for my ID. Also, for a place that wants to give off the German beer garden vibe, I wouldn’t suggest playing horrible cheesy new«country» music. It was just awful to sit through.

Great food, great drinks, and great service! All sorts of yummy comfort food. The Irish nachos are a must try. There’s a great variety of mixed drinks and brews. The bartender and other workers are not only super helpful and attentive but incredibly friendly, too. This is officially my new go to place

Very cool hidden gem on the strand in Galveston’s Historic District. Delicious food, ice cold beer, lawn games, and more. They’ve got a great outdoor setup to catch a Rockets or Texans games as well.

Daughter had the fish and chips. I had the burger and fries. We shared the fried onions. No complaints here. I would recommend it to others. Plenty of choices and we liked the environment. The staff were very nice and quick. There was too much food to eat… Not really a complaint

I stumbled on this place with a group of friends as we were walking down the Strand looking for something to eat. It was fantastic! Our waitress was friendly and funny, and played along with the joke when one of my friends said he wasn’t from this country…:P My party ordered a variety of burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers, and everyone loved what they ordered. My only complaint is that the potato salad was a little too spicy for me. I don’t like spicy mustard and there was clearly and unexpectedly spicy mustard in the potato salad. Otherwise, this was the perfect place for dinner after a tiring day!
