So I went back(because my daughter LOVES their ice cream) wearing a Herrell’s Ice Cream shirt and kid behind the counter noticed it. I said ‘yeah, but they make their hot fudge’ and he said ‘we do too.‘ I tried a spoonful, and it was dark, thick, and bittersweet. OK, now it’s a neighborhood ice cream parlor like we had in Boston in the 1970’s!

My kids and husband had brownies and ice cream and yeah it was great, but I had a snowball WITH and ice cream scoop and it was hands-down the BEST frozen treat I’ve ever had. I had the lime snowball with their coconut ice cream(which was actually more like a sherbet, and was non-dairy) and my kids and husband were asking for bites of mine before theirs had even been eaten. It was like eating a frozen baby angel. I can’t wait to go back! Also, the prices were very reasonable. A lot of places we found to be expensive, but figured«oh well, we are on vacation, etc,» but our four custom treats were only about $ 14. Excellent place!

LOVE this place. The last time I went I got a cone fresh off the waffle iron and it was delicious to have the warm cone with my ice cream. They have a unique variety of flavors plus your traditional ones.

Overrated. Overpriced. Disappointing. A root beer float: 2 «scoops» of vanilla ice cream, a can of A&W in a styrofoam cup = $ 4.00 plus tax. Ridiculous. I can get a float for $ 1.50 nearly anywhere else in the States(we travel 8 months out of the year) with the same or better ingredients. Don’t use a lukewarm can of A&W and charge top dollar. A waffle cone with two scoops of chocolate = $ 5. A small shake? $ 5.50! You get much less here for your dollar than Coldstone, Ben & Jerry’s or even the drug store right down the street. For a local, indie-owned joint, I expect higher quality. Their«scoops» are tiny. I usually order one scoop but when I saw her put one scoop inside the cone and I couldn’t even see the ice cream over the top, I asked for two. On Quality: my waffle cone was stale, very hard, and the attendant wrapped a super thin napkin around the cone that stuck to it. I had to scrape paper off the cone with my fingernail or eat paper. The ice cream is bland. I usually rate a place by the staples: chocolate and vanilla. At the very least, a homemade ice cream joint should have these two down. Taste wasn’t much different than soft serve. Pros: in and out quickly. Open late. That’s it. If recommend going elsewhere.

Absolutely adore this place! They have the best homemade ice cream. The owners and staff are very friendly! Love when they announce their creative flavors online! I hurry over for a try! I recommend this place to any who ask where they can get great service and amazing ice cream!

We stopped in after an early dinner. The place is very cute and they have a lot of interesting flavors. I love that it is very old school and homey feeling. It was busy and the only two workers seemed a little frazzled. One of them wasn’t too friendly. The flavor I wanted to try ran out, dang it! So I went for Cookie Monster in a waffle cone. And my boyfriend went for the hot fudge brownie sundae. Both were delish. Overall the experience was good. We aren’t in Galveston much, but I would recommend the place.

Delicious and homemade and with a rotating flavor of ice creams that can’t be beat. Mikey uses seasonal favorites to make his ice creams and customer requests as needed.

Salty caramel crunch was pretty flavorful. the only thing was that it was too sweet! Keep the flavor and the sugar cone tone down on the simple sugar! Fairly priced and nice location for coffee afterwards at Mod Coffeehouse

In the words of Toni Basil’s hit 80’s song, «Hey Mickey you’re so fine. You’re so fine you blow my mind, Hey Mickey». Although the pronunciation of «Mickey» is different from the hit song(long«i») there are similarities that remain. Both are big hits; and the fresh made ice cream is more than fine, it is «uhh-mazing». While there are always comfortable classic flavors to choose from there are always unique, odd, and always interesting flavors that are sometimes mind blowing. Whether you’re getting off a cruise ship, or just visiting our lovely island, or you’re a curious local that hasn’t tried it yet, a quick stop at Hey Mikey’s is a must for all who love a cool sweet treat.

Love coming into this place. I always feel welcomed. I like that they have snow cones, ice cream, frozen yogurt and come up with stuff like ice cream filled donuts and ice cream nachos! They are definitely unique, better, and different from Ben n jerry’s and marble slab. ALSO! They make their ice cream FRESH at the shop. NEVER has that freezer burn taste like other ice cream shops.

YUM! Interesting and classic flavors, plus they’ve got such a local vibe. They’ve got a chalkboard where you can suggest flavors that you’d like to see!

Love the non-dairy options and super unique flavors. Service is hit or miss, depends on who is working, and it REALLY bothers me that so many signs in this place are spelled wrong. Check out your topping labels Mikey… makes ya look silly. Fruity Peebles… C’Mon man. Color changing spoons are awesome!

Great experience here! Friendly staff who were happy to let you sample til you found your favorite. Be sure to enjoy the delicious ice cream with a homemade waffle bowl or cone. So good! Patio seating too, so sit a spell and enjoy people watching in olé Galveston.

Awesome stop for a sweet treat or cool down when walking the Strand. Mikey creates the menu and makes new flavors daily. Everything is made from scratch, including cookies, brownies, ice cream, and waffle cones. They have all sizes from a mini, which is perfect for those just wanting a little, to ice cream nachos! We’ve loved almost every flavor we’ve tried and sometimes make trips to the island just for Hey Mikey’s ice cream. The staff is very friendly and will let you try every flavor until you find the perfect one. Family owned and well priced. Seriously the best ice cream in Texas!(Time to up your game, Blue Bell!)

WOW! I took my boyfriend to Hey Mikey’s for some birthday ice cream. It was the first time for both of us and the five star reviews are true — this ice cream is delicious! I ordered the Nutter Butter and it’s basically peanut butter ice cream with crushed Nutter Butter cookies in between, perfect for peanut butter lovers like myself. My boyfriend had the Moose Tracks, which was equally as good. I’ll take Hey Mikey’s over La King’s any day! Price for both of us(single scoop cone and a double scoop cone) was just over $ 8, not too shabby. It was WELL worth every penny. We are making it a tradition to come here next time we’re in Galveston.

Pretty good stuff! The ice cream was super tasty. Got a Mint Chip milkshake and the wife got a sundae. The flavors they had available that didn’t scream my name or otherwise they would have gotten 4 stars.

Pretty good ice cream selections. Homemade ice cream… Friendly counter help. Cool art. The ice cream spoons are awesome. They change color in cold temperature. Really busy, little place, but it is still a little pricey.

Who doesn’t like fresh ice cream? So this local Galveston joint has been open for a while. I first went to their old location near UTMB, and I am glad they opened this new one near the strand. They deserve to be where they could be easily found by people. It’s a mom and pop place which I like a lot. They make their ice cream fresh at the store and they are creative with the flavors so that it’s not a boring variety. They also have ice cream nachos, which I have not yet tried but surely looked good on the pictures. And it’s also a plus that they have some non-dairy options which would work for my peeps who will end up in the bathroom after a small sip of milk. The service is friendly and polite, and they feature local art in the décor. Oh, and if you brought your four legged buddy along, they have a water bowl right outside so they can sip it up while you eat it up. If you’re visiting the island and craving some bomb ass ice cream, support a local business and check this place out. You won’t regret it!

Ice cream was great! The mini option is the absolute perfect size! This is a super cute little shop! Service was mediocre… I’ve been in before and had wonderful service, but the guys must have been tired or something tonight. If you’re in the mood for ice cream, swing by! It beats the crowd at La Kings for sure.

They have non-dairy options, I repeat, THEYHAVENON-DAIRYOPTIONS. If you’re a vegan like me Hey Mikey’s is a wonderful haven of non-dairy based ice cream. The first few times I went to Hey Mikey’s I had no idea they carried non-dairy flavors because they keep them in a separate side case but I noticed a note on the board and inquired further. I’ve tried both the chocolate and almond flavors. Both are decadent and very very tasty, you seriously won’t miss the dairy! They are made like an italian ice but the rich flavors impart a creamy-ness into them unlike any italian ice I have had before. They also make snow cones, which are darn good. The chocolate flavor is a must! It tastes just like a fudgesicle and come on WHODOESN’T LOVE A FUDGESICLE?!? Ahhhhhh just thinking about it takes me back to my childhood. The almond flavor was unique and fresh, I recommend getting the two together. The only thing that could make Hey Mikey’s better is if they had an almond milk or soy milk based ice cream(like Pachuigo and so many other places are doing). A girl can dream right…

Made the drive from Houston for our second visit to Hey Mikey’s and let me just say it’s well worth it. Some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had! The flavors are bold and inventive(i.e. maple bacon, chai tea) and it looks like they switch them out daily. The menu itself has great choices ranging from ice cream cups and cones, to make-your-own ice cream sandwiches and ice cream nachos. The place has a very homey and welcoming vibe. I love the fact that the owner is behind the counter always hard at work but still takes the time to hand out samples and stop and chat.
