We paid for a wedding cake in October, 2015 for a wedding that is going to be happening May 7, 2016 of this year and just now heard they are closed and they never contacted us and they never sent us a refund for the full amount of the cake. The number is no longer good and trying to find a way to contact them.

Was not impressed at all. We had the red velvet cupcake and the frosting was good, but the cupcake was soooo dry. Will not be coming back.

was in before a cruise and stumbled on Coastal Cupcakes as I cursed the crappy public transportation in Galveston. I had the Blackberries in the Dark (Chocolate cake filled with fresh blackberry compote, topped with blackberry buttercream dipped in chocolate candy shell), while the GF had a chocolate Salted Caramel. Both were moist and delicious. You could tell the passion for cooking those working there had. Goodie Girls near my old job in California also won cupcake wars. These cupcakes were better! Put that in your pipe and smoke it cupcake haters!

I am a cupcake connoisseur and had heard through the grapevine that this was the place to go…
Great location. I loved the inside. Quite cozy and very open, unlike most bakeries.
Selection was nice. It’s always hard to choose so I kept it simple. White birthday cake. The owner was there and was very sweet. She was kind enough to give my son the cupcake for free since his birthday was on Monday.
Cupcake was good. Icing was a bit too buttery but being that I could taste that it was handcrafted blows my mind. Much better than the fake icing I’ve had over the years.
Will definitely return and try more flavors.

Stopped by before closing and picked up a few cupcakes! The owner is super sweet and explained each cupcake. So far my favorite cupcake is raspberry lemonade!

The staff was the sweetest! The cupcakes were decorated absolutely beautifully, the only reason I’m lacking two starts is because the cupcakes actually weren’t very good. They were beautiful though and likewise the staff was great, but I wasn’t crazy about the cupcakes.

Prior to coming to this place I did not know that they had won the cupcake wars, so I didn’t have high expectations when I walked in. It was hard to find parking since it seemed to be in the downtown area. We did park about a block away and entered this really cute shop. It is dedicated to its cowgirl theme as you will find mentions of this and memorablia throughout. The cupcake displays are just as cute and your mouth will be watering to try all of them. We ended up ordering the velvet, birthday, and german chocolate cupcakes. The red velvet for me was the best. It is hard to get cream cheese frosting right and these cowgirls have perfected it! The German chocolate cake was very dry and tasted old, one should never sell old cupcakes! The birthday cake cupcake was just ok. I have had way better cupcakes at the corporate establishments. I am glad I did not know beforehand that they had won the cupcake wars otherwise I would have been very disappointed. Overall, it is a cute place to bring the ladies in your life for a sweet treat. However, choose wisely!

I read all the bad reviews and almost skipped this place, but the cupcake we had was delicious. Moist cake, delicious frosting. We split the Rocky Road. Cute inside — big place. Good experience and will go back again to try another flavor!

We tried every cupcake available and loved them all! They are all very homemade tasting — the icing on all of them were delicious. Staff was so helpful! We enjoyed our experience!

My expectations were too high. Being that they were on TV and won, I was expecting the best of the best all the way around. I can say that the young lady in the store knew her stuff. Each cupcake I pointed to she could tell me the ingredients as well as what the topping is made out of without even thinking about it!
The parking was horrible! Being that it’s located in downtown Galveston, if you are already strolling the area, this might be perfect for you but someone like me, who was just stopping by to try the cupcakes, I had to walk 2 – 3 blocks away. The store looked a bit run down but being in the «historical district» of Galveston, that wasn’t surprising.
I ordered 4 cupcakes and NONE of them blew me away.
Cha-​Cha Cherry– This was a vanilla cupcake with diced cherries in the batter, topped with a butter cream frosting. The cake was moist and the topping was bland
Oreo Cheesecake– chocolate cake with a cream cheese topping sprinkled with Oreos. The cake was very moist and the topping was bland and the cookies were stale.
Front Porch Sittin– This was a sweet tea cupcake with a meringue lemon topping. The cake was SUPER dry, Like it could have crumbled in my hands. The topping was VERY bland and tasted like it could have been low calorie or sugar free. I couldn’t finish it.
Tropical something– I don’t rememeber the exact name of it but it had a mini umbrella on it and she said it was infused with rum and filled with caramelized pineapples. The cake was VERY moist but again, the topping was bland and disgusting.
I think all their toppings are beautiful but we are not there to look at them, we are there to eat them so they should focus on making them just as delicious!

Don’t bother trying to go there on a Monday or a Tuesday as a tourist with 9 & 14 year old girls that love the show Cupcake Wars to only find it closed. How disappointing… maybe you should hire people to run it 7 days a week like most businesses in vacation locations. Lucky MOD Coffee House is up the street and didn’t let us down in our sweet tooth journey…

Hummingbird and cinnamon apple awesome. Cake was moist and just melted in ur mouth. Yum yum.

I have been here twice. I first went down here on a Sunday looking for cupcakes to bring home because most shops were closed by then. I must say I was excited at first for a new bakery to come to town.
I tried a big variation to take home of their cupcakes. Best one is the sweet tea cupcake – just the perfect blend of sweetness. I also tried their «winning» cupcake on the TV show. While I love the topping, I disliked the base itself. It was totally dry! Nonetheless my sister wanted to try this place again.
So my second time; I brought the family along and we had cupcakes to share. The one with the toasted marshmallow was wonderful but yet… the cupcake itself always seems so dry!
Now unto something that just ended my excitement about this place – we were the only customers in there as it was around noon. We sat by west window, eating. The cashier lady goes in the room that’s for employees only and suddenly we hear this retching and gagging for over 5 minutes. It resonated throughout the place!
I thought she was maybe sick to brush it off, then she walks out of the employees room perfectly fine, only to return and we hear the retching again. It was just very unpleasant to hear. We stopped eating our cupcakes by then and walked out, all the while thinking, «I’m never going back there again.»
The cupcakes sometimes lack flavor and all you get is sweetness, but do try a variation and maybe you’d find something that tickles your tastebuds.
I still give this place 2 stars as their cupcakes do LOOK beautiful. They will also offer a 10% for students when they show their IDs. In comparison to other bakeries in town (and it’s very hard not to compare) Cupcake Cowgirls has a long way to go. I hope the place improves.

I really wanted this place to be good… But it just isn’t. I have visited twice and tried four different flavors of cupcakes. All of them were sub par. I can make better cupcakes at home. The cake is too dry. They use buttercream icing that 1) isn’t sweet enough 2) isn’t appropriately salted 3) is piled way too high. The result is a dry cupcake with a mountain of unsalted butter on it. Also, the cupcakes are not flavored well. I’ve had birthday cake, salted caramel, chocolate strawberry, and red velvet. If my eyes were closed and I didn’t know what they were supposed to be, there is no way I would be able to identify the flavors.
I live close by and I’ve heard lots of mixed reviews from the downtown locals… Lots of people raved about it, but there are an equal amount that felt the same as me. The cupcakes just aren’t very good, and they charge gourmet cupcake prices.

We ordered a few flavors. All but one were good. None of us cared for the Irish Chocolate. The Crème Brulee was pretty good. The girl working the counter didn’t seem to want to be at work. Maybe she had a long day (it was during the bike rally), but she was very unfriendly. Other family members went back the next day and said the service was fine the next day.

well, ive read all the reviews… have friends that both love and hate these tiny cakes… so, i guess, it just depends on WHO the baker is because… i didnt think they were that good… not for the price 2 = $ 7
friends who have frequented the cypress location recommended the hummingbird which i got — it was the southern recipe… banana, nuts, cinnamon, pineapple… and cream cheese frosting — cake part was good… a bit dry… stuck to the wrapper… i guess, kinda over cooked and frosting… just way too thick. it was like eating cream cheese raw
the other one was keylime – frosting too light… barley had a taste. cake part ok… but, just no citrus taste…
cupcakes tasted like i had done the baking… and, im not a professional nor someone who would cupcake wars
i think the winner and owner, rebecca clanton needs to make sure each location is up to par w/​her award winning baking techniques so that her, 2012 glory can live on and on
with a reputation to uphold and being the new kid on the block… in a small town… here’s something that the public should never see…
employee – the young blonde girl [pictured in background] did acknowledge my presence but, sadly she offered no assistance in choosing or information about — mainly because she was preoccupied with her sonic foot long hot-​dog on back counter — in which she walked away from me at front counter 2x to eat from.

The cake batter could use some improvement.

I knew I had to try this place as soon as I saw it. I went last week to have a birthday cupcake with some friends. The cupcakes all looked delicious and I chose the salted caramel one. It was delicious and was surprised to find that it even had caramel baked into the center of it! The price was $ 3.50 per cupcake, $ 2 for drinks. The décor was adorable and very vintage. The only complaint I had is that it was freezing in there. It was uncomfortably cold. But other than that, it was great!

So I was very hyped to see a cupcake place finally make it to Galveston and even more excited considering that they had won cupcake wars, however was a bit disappointed after actually trying the cupcakes. Located near the Strand, they make 12 various types of cupcakes per day from the wide variety of flavors they have listed outside, however by 1 pm when we got there a few of the types had already sold out.
I ended up getting the chocolate birthday cake cupcake and my friend got the cookie dough cupcake and we split them both. They were both just okay. While we both enjoyed the cake portion as it was very moist and fluffy, we felt the icing was not the best and definitely could have been sweeter. The cookie dough cupcake description said there was actual cookie dough in the middle of the cake, which ours did not have unfortunately. Though they serve coffee, I wish they had milk on their menu as a delish cupcake and a cold glass of milk go a long way!
Will definitely give this place another opportunity. Would love to try the hummingbird cupcake at some point when they have it, as it is one of the ones that won cupcake wars and what’s not to love about banana, pineapple, and pecan cake with cream cheese frosting!!! Staff was nice and there is ample space to sit and relax inside. There is street parking available right outside. Cupcakes are $ 3.50 each – comparable to places like Sprinkles and Crave.

Amazing cupcakes! I tried a strawberry something and chocolate salted caramel. I didn’t try the vanilla salted caramel, but that’s the one that won Cupcake Wars and could imagine how wonderful it is– the frosting is amazing and moist cake. Highly recommend this for a sweet treat!
