We walked in for a quick bite to eat before leaving town & we more then pleasantly surprised. We ordered simple eggs and bacon with toast. The eggs were fantastic, cooked perfectly. The toast was like homemade & the coffee was the best cup we had had all week! And the cost was shocking– 3 meals for about $ 27 buck!!! I know it sounds weird but they were the best eggs I have ever had. I wish I knew what they did to make them so great. The entire breakfast all we did was rave about how great it was. We will go back! Cute atmosphere, they have counter service as well.

Complete opposite experience than the last time we ate here. Really busy for breakfast on a Sunday morning as usual, but we were seated relatively quickly(within 5 mins). Placed our order, got our drinks(they serve mimosas now, yay!), and then we were basically ignored by our waitress until our food arrived 40 minutes later. Even after we got our food she never came to follow up and ask how it was, or if we needed anything else(2nd round of mimosas would have been great, but never mind). Place felt dirty, and there were several flies buzzing around our table. Food was mediocre. 2 stars for the mimosa. Feels like they basically want you to eat quickly and get the heck out, so they ignore you and then you leave quicker. We won’t be back. OHWAIT — EDIT — forgot to mention… THEBATHROOM!!! Unisex, no stall, gross and not clean. Not to mention, it has a SECONDDOOR in there and you’re unable to tell if it’s locked or unlocked. Can someone just come walking in? Will someone knock first? Where does that door lead? Creeped me out. Should have held it but was already committed. I’ve never pee’d so fast in my life.

This place was awful. Waitress tried to convince me my burnt food was supposed to look like that. Stay away.

Food was pretty good but atmosphere could have been a lot better as well as service time — breakfast orders should come flying out of the kitchen but we sat for awhile waiting for our meal. Cheap prices though.

Stopped here on a busy Saturday weekend in October. Felt very lucky to get seated within 5 minutes since downtown Galena was packed. While we were seated quickly, our service was incredibly slow, servings were small, and food was somewhat average. The restaurant was not full, yet it took 45 minutes to get French toast for me and a Rueben sandwich for my husband. Kind of ridiculous, since both take about 10 minutes to make. Our waiter kept disappearing for long periods of time. Also, once we were done eating and our waiter took our plates, we waited another 10 full minutes for our check. We were here for about 1.5 hours when all we wanted was a quick meal. If we come back to Galena, we will go somewhere else for brunch.

I had breakfast here solo during the week and recently on the busiest of fall weekends in Galena. There was no wait for the counter, which has ample seating, and always a good option when dining solo. There is also ample table seating and it would be good for groups. The menu is not too extensive for a diner. Lot’s of standard breakfast offerings with a specialty of big plate size pancakes. I ordered one of those with a side of two eggs scrambled, and coffee. A good deal for around $ 6.00. The place was well-staffed with authentically friendly folks. One guy who works there looks like Will Ferrell. The lunch items on the menu are limited to burger and sandwich choices, wraps and such. All are priced moderately. A burger with fries is around $ 7.00. Have not tried the lunch yet, but I would definitely return for breakfast. The diner opens for breakfast at 6AM, and if you’re lucky, you can catch the cast of local characters entertaining at the counter.

Big girl actually fit in a counter stool. Now there’s a first. I am somewhat demanding due to my low carb way of eating. No worries here. Subs were fine. Some had upcharge. Good food. Efficient help. No warm fuzzy conversation, but that’s ok.

So we went to Galena for a weekend to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed downtown and this place was recommended for the best breakfast. We went in and was seated right away. The service was great. The waitress answered all questions we had and had no problem with helping with suggestions. Our drinks stayed on full and she made sure to come to check on us that we were comfortable and enjoying the food. The food was so delicious and fresh, we didn’t have to wait long once we gave the waitress our order. The food was made with love, I promise you could taste it. We was so impressed with the spot that we went the next morning for breakfast and ordered the same thing. The funny thing was, it tasted even better the next day. Definitely a place to check out when you visit downtown Galena!

One of my alternate breakfast stops. Do like the counter service. I do believe that when I wear my company logo shirt I’m even considered a local! Corned beef hash with eggs is good as are most their basic breakfast offerings. Good value breakfast but Coffee could be stronger and more distinctive.

Thoroughly average to below-average diner in Galena. I got the hash browns with eggs, sunny side up. The hash browns were good and the eggs were cooked right but came out cold. The décor is adorable and this place is very family-friendly. Also on the plus side, they serve breakfast all day. Still, I wouldn’t want to come back while they are busy and risk getting cold food again!

Our daughter wanted breakfast for lunch so called to make sure that they served breakfast all day. They do!!! She ordered two sunny side up eggs, hash browns and toast. The others of us order a bagel with cream cheese, a cinnamon bun and some coffee. There was a large party ahead of us and service was slow. Unfortunately her eggs came out cold but our bagel and bun were nice and warm. While the cinnamon bun was reviewed highly, I found it only average. It was a bit dry, I guess that’s why they served it with butter, which I thought odd. We had to asked for a refill on the coffee, i.e. not very attentive. On a positive note I love the retroness of the place! Galena already feels like a throwback in time and Victory Café is right there with it!

This is a cute little place in a historic town. We stopped in during the middle of a day shopping and sightseeing. We each just had a light snack and something to drink. I had Denver cheese soup which was pretty tastey. I loved the look of the place. A bit like stepping back in time. My favorite part of the place was how very friendly and charming our waitress was. That was what made the place for us.

It was ok. The fries had no salt or flavor. I got the Reuben. Looked like store bought corned beef which was just ok. No vegetarian options beside grilled cheese and egg salad. I doubt we will be back. The place was noisy with too many screaming kids. I suggest look for the bars in the area instead. Better atmosphere.

Went here with my girlfriend around 130pm on a Sunday afternoon, an hour and a half before they were scheduled to close. They had a sandwich board outside advertising a ham sandwich special for 5.99. We both ordered the sandwich, and she asked for her bread toasted. The server looked around, and kind of snippy, he said«well, normally they won’t toast it, but we’re not too busy so I guess we’ll do it.» I mean, really? Your cooks are so busy that they can’t toast bread? Then I ordered my sandwich and asked for lettuce and tomato. Didn’t expect him to say that it’ll be a dollar extra for those seemingly basic condiments. Food was good, but next time I may consider going somewhere else.

It’s a small-town diner. Veggies from the can. Food is going to be greasy. Really greasy. Lots of tourists, and the place will be packed on the weekends. Service will be OK, sometimes it is slow. Maybe because the layout of the place makes it so your server has to walk 3 minutes just to get to your table from the kitchen. A breakfast at Victory Café is just going to be another breakfast in another diner that’s kind of like most of the other diners you’ve been in while wandering the backroads of Americana. I’d write more, but you get the gist, dear reader. It’s OK if you are feeling too lazy to make your own breakfast.

Ate here for the first time this past weekend. My bf and I have traveled to Galena before but never ate here since our B&B provided breakfast. Since we stayed at a regular hotel this time(B&B was booked!) we decided to try this place. We ordered basic breakfast things: coffee, French toast, etc. I had the FT and fruit with coffee, my bf had eggs, toast and bacon. He liked his breakfast and I did too, but it didn’t wow us. Our server was awesome but I felt like he was rushing us a bit so that was a bit off putting. The set up of the restaurant is a bit weird, kind of like it was an office they decided to empty it out and throw tables in. It would benefit from a bit of a a redesign to make more cozy. For the record, their coffee here was amazing. Seriously, I consider myself a big coffee gal, and I had three cups whilst here with my breakfast. I believe that’s the only thing that stood out to us eating here. It’s one of those places where we may be back, if something else doesn’t pop up.

A very very bad experience. We went with friends on our anniversary weekend and chose Victory Café. It was not terribly busy for a Sunday morning and yet we waited over 45 mins for our food. The waitress hardly checked on us and was busy eating her own breakfast. The food was lukewarm and the veggies in the omelet were not cooked, canned mushrooms, soggy toast. When we complained she said«that’s how they always do it». Very disappointed all the way around. We left with no breakfast.

Had a hankering for breakfast while in Galena and stopped by the Victory Café. It was pretty good — standard breakfast fixin’s. We also tried the meatloaf which was decent. Someone on Unilocal suggested trying a cinnamon roll — so we did, and it was fantastic! Gooey and warm… yum! Prices were reasonable, especially being a tourist town. Service was good, but to be honest, it wasn’t busy but she was very nice and pleasant.

The food was good. Nothing amazing but your average breakfast fare. I had their signature Hobo Hash and hubby tried their giant pancake. We sat at the counter so service was friendly but brisk. The food did take a lot longer to come out than what we would normally wait for at your average breakfast establishment so it just depends on how busy they are I guess.

Service ok, food ok. Basic greasy spoon, wasn’t a fan of the pancake, it was dense and batter-y. Waitress basically got the job done without any personality. Quick and easy place to stop at but I’d look elsewhere next time.
