I couldn’t go see my parents without bringing them some sort of fudge from Galena so we stopped in here while roaming the downtown area. They have lots of candy you can buy by weight along with the typical fudge and chocolate concoctions. I ended up buying turtle fudge for my parents, peanut butter/chocolate fudge for myself, and two chocolate covered oreos for us to snack on when we got back to the B&B. I wasn’t really blown away by the oreos but still enjoyed them. I did really like the fudge and they advertised that it won’t melt on a hot day!

The hubs and I stopped by the Galena Kandy Kitchen while we were staying at a B&B nearby. This small candy store has been around since the ‘70s, and they are know for their ‘Pecan Georgies’(homemade caramel with fresh pecan halves and hand-dipped in milk or dark chocolate) — these are pretty tasty(I prefer the milk chocolate version), and if you like caramel, chocolate, and pecan nuts, then these turtles will definitely hit the spot! They also have chocolate bars, dipped chocolates, creams, English toffee, peanut butter cups, pogo sticks, pecan logs, cararmel, fudge, popcorn, chocolate raisins, malt balls, popcorn, and even candies(like gummy bears and sour bits). Definitely check this local candy store out, and you can also support them by purchasing through their online store. +‘Pecan Georgies’

They have really good carmel apples. Best carmel apple i had. That carmel on it was really delicious. They have a lot of chocolates and candies. They are also resonably priced. The only thing i was not so fond of was their truffles, didn’t remind me much of the truffles i am used too. Anyone with a sweet tooth will find something for themselves. Cute little shop filled with sweets.

It was expensive and I had better tasting candy that was made in my kitchen.

Loved this candy store! I really liked that you could mix and match any of the per/lb candy in one bag(minus jelly bellies, those needed to be in a separate bag). Everything I got was super fresh which isn’t very common in candy stores. The chocolate covered gummy bears were the best and I am rationing off the few that I have left. Also, very reasonable pricing. I believe it was $ 7.25/lb.

Yes I just visited here after having been away for 6 years and I was so happy to see it’s still here!!! It hasn’t changed at all for decades — if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. My best friend and I visited here and had to hold each other’s wallets so we wouldn’t spend all our money on everything. The chocolate covered cococnut haystacks in particular were incredible! Don’t ever change, Kandy Kitchen… except for the Beanie Babies shelf, that nostalgia is unnecessary.

I could start and stop this review with three words… «Chocolate Covered Bacon». Right now if your gag reflex set in, I’m not going to lie and say mine didn’t the first time I heard of it. Just give it a try. If you are a fan of delicious bacon and you also loves you some chocolate, you know you do! This is a combination that will bring you back for more heart attack goodness. You do yourself a disservice if you don’t at least buy one piece to try. Seriously, this is an old time candy shop with jars filled of candy you can choose from. They have some delicious candy and fudge that you just can’t go wrong with. The chocolate counter has your standard confectionary selections but also many other things dipped in chocolate, but who cares because you are going to get the Chocolate Covered Bacon anyways, the other stuff is just there as decoration. If you have a sweet tooth and need something to fill it. I’m pretty sure you can find something here. Plus they have Chocolate Covered Bacon.

This place is really good! You don’t see candy shops like this anymore, well at least where I come from — the magical land of the suburbs. Anyway, they have a fantastic assortment of candy and chocolate, My only real complaint is that the paper bags they give you rip easily and are a hassle to handle.

The Kandy Kitchen is the place to get your vintage candies. They pretty much have all the basics and some things you have never heard of. The bulk candy is a little on the pricey-er side, but it’s a tourist’s town, so you pay a premium. They offer samples of their popcorn and fudge and because they are both delicious, it does sell you on the items, but still, it’s hard to leave without spending $ 15 or so. Yes, on candy. They do offer chocolates and last time I was in, I bought a pound or so, but this most recent trip, we stuck to the classics– malted milk balls, gummy bears, chocolate covered raisins, chocolate covered peanuts, cinnamon bears and gummy cherries. They have every flavor jelly belly, but note the jelly bellies are more expensive than the rest of their bulk candy. This is such a cute little place and I wish it was closer to home.

Oh my goodness, there is a wonderful schtick at Galena Kandy Kitchen. The miles and miles of bulk items — most of which you can mix and match in a giant bag if you so desire — is the ultimate in glee. Gummy anything. Jelly Bellies of every flavor. Chocolate covered this, that, and everything else. And if you’re too indecisive for that, you can pick up some of the classic candies in their regular packages. Their in-house chocolate is fabulous to use as a thank you or an apology to my grandmother, whichever applies on any particular visit. I haven’t tried it myself(and I’d have to recuse myself from judgment when my in-laws own a chocolate shop) but if it makes my grandma smile and keeps me out of the dog house, my opinion doesn’t matter.

Oh, Galena Kandy Kitchen… what have you done to my waist? :-) I adore this small little candy shop – I always make sure to hit it when I’m in Galena. They have a very large selection of per-lb scoop candy in old fashioned glass containers on one side, and then all kinds of chocolate, fudge, and popcorn goodies on the other side. I have never left here not finding something to fill the sweet tooth’s requirements. And by sweet tooth, I mean my girlfriend who craves their malted milkballs. My favorites are their chocolate/nut/caramel creations and their delicious fudges. They also have a lot of items prepackaged in gift boxes – so you can quickly swoop in and swoop out knowing you’ve picked up a box full of sure-fire winners!

What historic vacation town is complete without a vintage little confectionery shoppe. This place was really cute and housed a lot of old school candy selections. We enjoyed picking out our sugary delights in this small, busy store along Galena’s main drag. I do wish I would have read the reviews on this place sooner as I regret not trying the fudge. However, I can tell you that the chocolate covered peanuts, malt balls, and strawberry gummies we purchased were delish.

fudge = awesomeness here’s a throwback to the old style candy shoppes. they had a bunch of candy in baskets and jars and it was a fill your bag type of place. great selection of jelly bellys, penny candies, and old and new favorites. our favorite thing from here was the fudge though. there was no grainy-ness at all, which is sometimes unfortunately rare for fudge.
