My husband and I had been waiting anxiously to give this place a try after all the reviews. After a few months, they have opened back up! A very home-like feel to the restaurant makes it very cozy. The food is amazing and the family who own the restaurant are also amazing. While the menu is mostly mexican, they will make almost anything. Their curry is one of the best we’ve found in the area. The portions are huge and the prices are low! Can not reccomend enough!

What a great find! Randomly walked by and had to try it out, and we’re glad we did. Cannot beat the price to quality ratio. Happy Hour prices all day everyday! Warm atmosphere with kind, personable, and accommodating staff. We will certainly return.

I love the corner taco bar. The owners are extremely nice. The food is great and now they even serve beer and wine! Perfect spot for those nice summer days when you want to relax outside and enjoy a cold one.

Love the Taco Bar. This is a family owned and operated business by a warm and friendly family. Nothing fancy here, but the tacos are huge, delicious(beef is my favorite) and loaded with fresh ingredients priced at only $ 4 for 1, $ 5 for 2 and accompanied by $ 2 beers. Yes really, a tasty, filling meal and a beer for $ 10. They also have an amazing and huge breakfast burrito(black beans, potatoes, eggs and bacon & salsa –yummy!). It is enough for 2 people, priced at $ 7 and comes with fresh fruit– can not be beat. Love this jewel of a place — stop in and give it a try– you’ll be glad you did.

I actually have no idea where the restaurant is that others are referring to, bit I need to find it! My fiancé and I stopped by the Taco Bar window in Kentlands for a quick and inexpensive bite to eat before catching a movie. Wow! I ordered two tacos($ 2.99 each) and could only eat one because they are GIGANTIC and delicious! The ingredients were very fresh and we had plenty of condiments in our to-go bag. The staff were extremely friendly and offered us complimentary beverages because it took several minutes for our order to be ready(nothing was sitting around, it’s prepared fresh, so it took several minutes). We couldn’t take advantage of the outdoor seating, because it was raining. They even offered us a seat in their staff area, but we declined as we were just going to scarf it down and get to our movie seats. Can’t wait to go back for more! This really filled is up on a budget and didn’t sacrifice any flavor!

This is a great little family owned & operated takeout and catering business. They have always been known primarily through word-of-mouth here in the neighborhood for good food, generous portions and great prices. They just added a taco bar attached to the Star Diner at 705 Center Point Way. I got the soft chicken tacos with black beans and rice. Delicious, fresh and plenty of everything. It was particularly amazing considering the total with iced tea was under $ 5. Try finding a meal anywhere else in the Kentlands for that price! No beer or wine license yet though. This will definitely be a summer-time favorite for me. The place is packed when the bands play in the nearby park. It’s worth the wait. Great addition to the neighborhood.

I’m Indian and I’m not a fan of going out and eating Indian food. I just find all Indian restaurants to be the same. I’m spoiled because I prefer home cooked food more. I live within walking distance of this restaurant but have never ever set foot in there until now. I finally decided to give it a try. Pros: — food is tasty and portions are plentiful. I ordered the shrimp biryani(extra spicy) and a side salad. And my idea of a side salad was just something to fit in a small styrofoam box. But the salad was huge! And they provided a generous portion of yogurt with it. That was really nice. — Staff is very friendly, despite the fact that they have to process a lot of orders. When I got there, they said they have 10 orders before mine and that it would be a 25 minute wait for me. I told them I can come back in 1 hour and that made them really happy. I came back 1 hour later and the food was ready. Cons: — While I like biryani, i was surprised to find a lot of dried fruits(apricots, cranberries) and nuts(walnuts) in there. Too much of them, as a matter of fact. And not much shrimp. I got sick of having to take out the fruits and nuts that I just said the heck with it and ate it all. But it wasn’t a completely pleasant experience. — Couple things on the menu they either ran out of or do not serve anymore. For instance soup. I love soup and tonight was the day they served gumbo and I really wanted to try that. But they said they don’t serve it anymore because customers didn’t really buy soups. — i’ve never been to a restaurant and seen so many cookbooks lying around(how to cook mexican food, how to make indian food, Costco cookbook…) I tried not to think about it too much but if you have cookbooks lying around that gives off the impression that you’re still learning how to cook. Customers come in with the expectation that you do know what you’re doing and don’t have to look at a cookbook. All that said, I will not give up on this establishment. I won’t judge the restaurant based on one visit and a not-so-great experience with one menu item. I will give them a second chance.

Do you ever growl when eating something that’s very tasty? I do, apparently even for a great, hearty vegetable dish. Got takeout Indian dishes(the owners/cooks are Indian), and I was knocked out! I ordered Saag Paneer(spinach with Indian fresh cheese) and Chicken Korma. The rice over which I spooned them was, itself, very tasty, and I served myself unintended seconds of everything. This is some of the tastiest food in the Kentlands, but I had no idea that Peppers existed until a few weeks ago. They have seafood and Mexican food, under the Monsoon Kitchen moniker that’s also on the first floor door of this second floor establishment. If they cook those cuisines as well as they do Indian, then the possibilities are overwhelming. They’ve also assured me that they can cook Indian dishes that I do see on the menu, but I’d rather have a larger menu than play guessing games. That, and the non-date-night brightly lit room force me to take one star off of my review, in spite of my excitement over this new(to me) restaurant. They’re planning on having a first floor expansion specializing in Mexican food, and they’re going for a beer and wine license, which will go a long way to making it a local favorite if their Mexican dishes are as good as their Indian dishes.

I rarely write reviews. I have to say this is a small mom and pop owned restaurant on the top floor. At first walking up the stairs I admit I was a bit weary. I was very surprised. The food is made to order, portion are huge. I find that it was a bit saucy, but tasty. The chicken was moist and not dried out. The soup we ordered was split into two large bowls for only $ 3.50.the wait is a bit long, but well worth it. We got bottle water instead of tap and soda is also complimentary. This place is only open from 5 – 9PM. Their kitchen is open where you can watch them prepare and cook your meal. Very fresh no left overs. We will be back.

My husband and I stopped by a few weeks ago and had takeout and loved both of the dishes we had. Tonight we went back with a friend as we heard that the menu had changed and we would love to have a closer option for Indian food. We were not disappointed! The food was made from scratch while we chatted and to our specification(I always ask for curry as spicy as possible without loosing the integrity of the dish and it was the perfect combination which is hard to do.) They catered to our every need and anticipated some of the ones that we did not even think of.(Like oranges for after dinner.) We will definitely be back to try their other dishes as the seafood entrees look tempting, even though I think we have found our local standby for some amazing food.

Family and I ordered three dishes(chicken tikka, chicken bowl, and burrito) and ALL were delicious! Great little family run business in the Kentlands. Folks should definitely check it out.
