Love the food here at Smashburger! HOWEVER, VERY disappointed with the complete lack of customer service from the employees tonight. When your sign says you close at 10:00, that doesn’t mean 9:55!!! And then tell us an excuse that your manager said to close the doors?! When your customers travel 25 minutes ONEWAYJUST to eat at your restaurant, its unacceptable to be told this by an employee who only cares to get out of there and be treated this way as if the customer is not important. Management, take a closer look at your employees.

I had the bacon cheeseburger and the classic grilled chicken sandwich. The bacon cheeseburger was decently thick, although if I hadn’t got two sandwiches I would have needed a second patty. The bun was good, doesn’t deflate like most and the toppings were fresh. The grilled chicken sandwich was good but a bit disappointing. Although the chicken was larger than the bun, it was very very thin. My order was correct and will visit again, but like most burger joints it’s normally a wise decision to get a burger.

The burgers are good when they can’t get the orders right. Got an online order, first they didn’t give us any of the fries. Noticed before we left and they gave us the fries. I also payed an extra $ 1.40 for haystack onions on my burger. When u got home and opened the burger, no onions. Moral of the story, make sure you check everything you order before you leave because chances are something is wrong.

Entered and there was no one else there. A young male shift leader noticed me but did not approach the register for a few minutes. He talked like he just woke up and assumed I wanted a regular size burger with no side or drink(he didn’t ask me what I wanted). Ordered a bacon cheese and haystacks. The food took way too long for no one else being there. The bacon was underdone and the haystacks were burned. Cooks were also crowded around the drink machine filling a bowl with ice. Would recommend a different location for actual standards.

I got a mushroom grilled burger. The burgers are pretty small. Not to mention the fries are super thin, you need to eat 10 at the same time to get an actual taste. The cashier wasn’t very pleasant. The place was overall neat and tidy. All in all the burger I got was pretty good!

I ordered the Spicy Jalapeño Baja burger with fries and a chocolate milkshake. The food came out in less than 5 minutes. The burger looked appealing. The toppings looked fresh and the patty itself looked juicy but it was very thin(¼lb.) and was swallowed by the bun. I would suggest getting the double patty if you want a little more beef. The shoestring fries were good. They were golden and crispy and salted just right. Also, they advertise that their shakes are made with Haagen-Dazs ice cream but it sure didn’t taste as good as Haagen-Dazs. I am not a fan of chocolate syrup being added to my ice cream and I don’t think it is necessary since Haagen-Dazs does make chocolate ice cream. The syrup made the shake overly sweet and a little chalky. Overall, I am not crazy about this place, but it is an ok place to eat if you are wanting a burger and are in the area. The biggest let down was the chocolate shake… I guess I will just stick to ColdStone :)

came here with husband and he is a meat eater, I myself asked if they could make a grilled cheese. They said they could not because there is no way they could ring it up, we said can you just ring up a burger and charge us that price but just make a grilled cheese? Of course they said no so they have lost our business. Businesses should have vegetarian options as well. edit-no I do know they have vegetarian burgers and I recently glanced at their menu and see on the kids list that they do have grilled cheese. I don’t know if that is new but this was just last year so I don’t know the big deal how hard it is to slap together two pieces of bread and sliced cheese.

Burger was great but they stiffed me on my large fries and my milk shake. The fries were the same portion as a regular when I ordered a large. The milkshake was halfway full filled the rest of the way up with whip cream. It might just be because it was a bunch of kids working but all the other smashburgers I’ve been too have been amazing and they always hooked it up. Hopefully next time they’re not so skimpy on everything

Ordered the spicy chicken sandwich on multigrain bun. Sandwich was just good, chicken was big and well cooked. Would try something else the next time though. Good experience for price. Would pick them over 5 guys, any day. Sweet potato fries were okay as well, just let would have liked a nice sauce to dip them in. Good experience, just felt like it was missing something. Will definitely return though.

Smashburger is a great place to go after catching a flick from the nearby movie theatre. The line moves pretty fast though is always pretty long. I give it four stars because they always, and I mean always get my order wrong. And by the time they fix it you don’t care or already finished your meal… very frustrating. Condiments and ingredients missing from my burger, the wrong type of fries just to name the constant issues I have. The buffalo and blue cheese burger or the chicken avocado club are my favs. I pick the sweet potato fries because they are more crunchy and flavorful. My kids love the Oreo shake but end up just needing to share one since it’s so thick and filling.

Decent burgers for sure. I like how they are not as crowded as when they first opened. Their fries are very creative and the Buffalo fries are definitely interesting. I wish they had the modern soda machine with other options. However it is nice to have table delivery service and an option other than five guys.

Our friends have been raving about Smash Burger so we had to go check it out while we were visiting the area. The vibe is very casual – felt a little bit like a Five Guys, with the counter ordering and tables/booths, but the décor was unique. The person who took our order was fairly friendly, which is rare in northern VA… The menu included burgers, chicken sandwiches(grilled or crispy), salads, and a kid’s menu(there’s more, just can’t remember it all). We had a group of 7 and received our food very quickly. Now, for the important stuff-the food! The regular burger is a good sized(at least a ¼ lb) burger – flavorful and juicy. The kids-sized burger was generous. They also offer a larger sized burger, but the regular was plenty for my teenaged son. The grilled chicken sandwiches are made with marinated chicken that has been pounded to an even thickness. The real stars here are the wide variety of toppings for the various sandwiches. There are some great combinations offered on the menu, as well as a «Build Your Own» option that allows you to choose your bun, meat, toppings, and a variety of upgraded(read: more expensive) toppings. As good as the sandwiches were, the French fries were even better. Shoestring fries are the variety available here. You can get plain ones, but why would you do that when you can order their Smash Fries(tossed in olive oil, garlic and rosemary) – oh my gawd they were ridiculous! They also have a buffalo fry option with a buffalo dry rub seasoning that was really good too. My kids were treated to milk shakes at the recommendation of our friends. These are the milk shakes of my childhood. Thick and made with dipped ice cream, served in a tall glass topped with whipped cream, a straw and a spoon. Oh, and you also get the metal mixing cup with the shake that didn’t fit into the glass. There are lots of great restaurants in this area, but we will absolutely return to Smash Burger the next time we visit.

This is in our regular family rotation. They have some unique choices. Flavor of the burgers is good. Smash fries are their shoestring fries with rosemary oil. They are great but inconsistent. Oftentimes they don’t have much oil on them. Other times they are drenched. All in all, we love the burgers. Great location too!

Smashburger definitely makes a tasty burger. Of the ones I’ve indulged in, they are juicy and delicious! Especially the bacon cheeseburger. The bacon is usually forgotten on burgers. Most places serve it soggy and limp. But at Smashburger the bacon truly shines. It is always crisp, thick, and in the perfect amount. Unfortunately this is where my praise starts to wane. I’ve had the regular fries, the olive oil and Rosemary fries, and the sweet potato fries. All of them get an underwhelming«meh.» I was really hoping for a burger place the fries would be awesome. The one high point is they are always hot and crisp. But other than that they are pretty blah. They have the typical range of sodas and iced tea, nothing interesting or special. The price is also an issue for me. It’s unusually high for a burger place. I don’t know if it’s because of the location or the franchise. But that keeps me from going more. In conclusion, if you want a tasty burger at a high price, this is the place for you.

Flavorful burger, very juicy, and I love the shoe-string fries. I got a regular smash burger and asked for it well done since I am preggers now, and they had a bit of trouble making it well done(I had to pull out some under cooked meat from the patty). The placed was packed and not many seats available around 5pm on a Saturday. My hubby and I were able to find a seat, but you could tell the manager was getting frantic about it since he kept making announcements that he will buss the tables as soon as people move(I think we all get it… the place is busy, just breath). Overall, I thought it was good. Everything is separate though, but not too high: fries were $ 2, burger $ 6

Third and last time trying this place — the previous two times I had gotten chicken so this time I decided to try a burger since they are called SmashBURGER. Got the spicy jalapeño baja burger — as always seriously lacking in toppings and the burger was quite dry despite what their advertisements say. Also, the bun was horrifically dry. Got their smashfries which were terribly greasy and almost… Stale??? Maybe freezer burnt? I don’t know what was wrong with them but they were some of the worst fries I have ever had. I will not be making a return here. If you want a good gourmet burger with unique toppings try Melt in Leesburg or Good Stuff Eatery in DC

Our first visit to Smashburger. Since we are getting one at Dulles Landing, I know we’ll be returning, at least to that location. This one is right across the street from the movies, so it’s well situated. But, there’s a Nando’s Peri-Peri down the block and I’ll probably give that place a try before returning here. The food was decent. We got: Fried pickles: OK, but the«Smash Sauce» that accompanies this and other things as well is really salty Veggie Frites: Liked the green beans, but not the carrots. Carrots need more than a «flash frying» to be something other than hot crunchy carrot sticks. Kids grilled cheese: The kid liked it. Oreo milkshake: The kid liked it. Kids smashburger: The other kid was disappointed it didn’t come with lettuce and tomato. The cashier asked if she wanted cheese but didn’t ask her about any other toppings. She did like the burger. Truffle mushroom swiss burger: Tasty enough. Pretty greasy. I liked the egg roll. Fries: ok, if you like them really thin. I do like that the sides come in small portions and are priced reasonably. Overall, a solid Meh.

I like Smashburger. I’ve had really great experiences on numerous occasions in Fairfax. Last night I tried the location in Gainesville for the first time. I was extremely disappointed. My girlfriend and I walked in around 7PM on a Sunday night. The place was not busy. About 40% of the seats in the restaurant were filled, and there was only one other party in line at the counter. We ordered two burgers and a beverage. My girlfriend asked for a glass for water. We tried to order onion straws but we were told they were out. The BBQ, cheddar, bacon burger I had ordered was supposed to have onion straws on it as well, and when I pointed that out I was told they had onion straws for sandwiches but not for sides. We went to our seats and our food arrived in a more than acceptable amount of time, but my burger had no barbeque sauce. It also just didn’t look very appealing on the plate, not that I’m prissy and need everything to be just so. I can certainly arrange my own bacon on my burger. I took my burger up to the counter to get some barbeque sauce, and I waited. The girl who was running food walked by me at least three different times without acknowledging me. Finally, one of the guys in the back of the house recognized that and asked what I needed. I went back behind the counter to give him my burger as he requested. When the food runner brought it back out to me with a couple squiggles of sauce on it, she literally dropped it in front of me, almost tossing it down. That ticked me off. Our burgers were just OK, and the restaurant was messy. About half of the empty tables had trash and half-eaten food left on them. I’d probably give them another chance with the hope that it was just a rough night, but based on my wonderful experiences at the Fairfax location, the Gainesville location could be much better.

Barely 3 stars. A 3 star burger and 2 star fries. I was caught up in all the buzz about this new burger joint and wanted to check it out. Gotta say, I was disappointed. I had the ‘big classic’, it was neither of those. Don’t understand why they call it ‘smash’ burger, cause it wasn’t with me. Yes, they might smash the burger pattie flat but it doesn’t add anything to the quality or taste. It’s an ok burger, nothing really that special. The fries, thin and skinny is what they should call them. Not much taste and so thin, better to eat them with a fork. I like the location, just next to the Regal theater in the new Promenade at the Virginia Gateway Center. The outside seating will be a plus when the weather warms up. Good luck if they are chasing the other ‘guys’ cause they are already left behind.
