Good food great service. Boat parking is a little hard and the dock is kinda rough but they do let you BYOB. Sunday brunch is pretty good to

We eat here fairly regularly during the summer and have always found the food and service fairly satisfactory… that is until this past Sunday(Fathers Day weekend). Once my wife, my two sons, and myself were seated, we were approached by one of the waitresses and she became confrontational with my son. She asked if he had dined there the night before. He explained he had not been there the previous night. He told her that he had worked the night before and asked what the issue was. She offered no explanation and we resumed with ordering our meal. During our meal she returned several times during our meal and made several mores rude comments. Finally, we had had enough and asked to speak with the owner. He came out and explained that this waitress had had some issues the night before with some young men of which she thought one of them was my son. We explained this was obviously a case of mistaken identity and asked for an apology. The owner refused and defended his waitresses actions while the waitress stood behind him laughing it off. Needless to say, we will not return and will tell everybody we know in Gainesville of how we were treated. A simple apology would have gone a long way,

Our waitress who took our order was friendly and down to earth, but the food was delivered by just the opposite & one could tell of her unpleasantness. The grits were way too sweet for southern roots and the home fries came from someone’s freezer. But the«cat head biscuit» fluffy & toasted perfectly, and whatever else you order, omelettes, sweet potato pancakes, 3 eggs over easy… just make sure your stomach is ready to absorb the abundance; for this breakfast stop isn’t shy to fulfill the first meal of the day. Picnic tables & benches are available outside on uneven ground, although there is seating inside. Either way, your seats are anchored, while you view the navigable vessels before you.

Hit this place up since we were in the Gainesville area over Saturday and saw the reviews. Just the type of place I like, lots of local color and kitsch. Was greeted and sat right away. Got the Boom Boom shrimp as an appetizer — very good. Shrimp perfectly fried is a sweet/savory slightly spicy Thai sauce. Our entrees were blackened shrimp with black beans and yellow rice and hushpuppies — And Grouper with lemon pepper, Hushpuppies and fries. Hushpuppies on both orders were overcooked — dark brown and oily. Kids chicken was a bit overcooked and very salty, fries were good hot and crisp. The yellow rice looked like a Lipton mix pack with black beans added. There was a strange flavor that I could not put my finger on in both the beans and rice(took separate bites of each). The grouper was tasty, but salty, the blackened shrimp were good, but not great. Judging from the reviews, the fried items seem to be the better/popular items. If we had only had the boom boom shrimp with fires, I would have given a higher rating. Would like to go back and try again with the fried items or the brunch. Service was good — Atmosphere was good —

Not a great experience today. The service was slow with the waitress and assistants seeming overwhelmed, poorly trained and distracted. My brother ordered a cup of gumbo at $ 4.99 and it came out in a teeny tiny little bowl, maybe 3 or 4 ounces. The location is great but this place can do better. See the post from my wife regarding the«Asian Grouper» on the menu. There technically is no such animal. This is a farm raised catfish, usually from Vietnam or Thailand.

We have been to Skogie’s before about three years ago. We visited with family for a late lunch hoping we would avoid the church crowd. The waiter was polite upon arrival and we found a booth right away. I am assuming our waitress was fairly new as we had to ask multiple times for more ice, silverware and drink refills. I was disappointed to find«Asian grouper» on the menu. It is also known as tra, is farmed in Vietnam and is listed as one of the«dirty dozen» by . I had the chicken salad and my table mates all had chicken sandwiches. The fries were cooked perfectly and the sandwiches were hot and tasty. My salad was wilted and appeared to have been sitting under the heat lamp for a while. The kitchen was very slow, our food came out about one hour after we ordered. I think we will avoid this establishment in the future.

Good is ok but you need to have a lot of time on your hands. The service takes forever! Every time!

Not only were we displeased with the service, the quality of the food and the fact that my grilled shrimp and steamed broccoli took nearly an hour to reach the table, but I’m now dealing with a horribly painful case of food poisoning :(

Stumbled upon this place on the Sunday evening of Memorial Day weekend. Lakeside…awesome atmosphere for evening dinner at the lake. Families all around eating outside on picnic tables. We are on the screened porch. Prompt service. Smoked Gouda and shrimp fritters were great… but didn’t see any evidence of the shrimp in them. Also ordered the Mac n cheese fritters and chicken tender dinner. All good. Really a cool local«beach like» joint. Will bring friends back.

The grouper is awesome but the hushpuppys are from mars they are crispy and yummy and fun all wrapped up in a golf ball size tasty ball of yummyness. Personally I have only ordered the grouper fried on a plate, Fried on a hogie, blackened and coconut fried all were amazing. The fries are fresh cut and have this shaved salt omg. I have herd the skogie burger is amazing but can’t get past the grouper

If you want food, service and coffee that is drinkable do not go here! The coffee was some sort of black water. It was the hands down the worst coffee I have ever had! My girlfriend and I order scrambled eggs and a biscuit and eggs benedict and home fries. Well that literally took 53 minutes. There were a total of 13 people in the restaurant including the two of us. The food was ok, cold and really nothing special. I could have made the same thing at home in 10 minutes. If you’re in Gainesville and have any other options to eat anything. Take it. If you want to sit forever and eat bad food and coffee. Enjoy!

Great food. Good prices and service. Inside the marina. Seafood is fresh and well cooked. Shrimp are very tasty! Green tomatoes are good too…

Fun place for a casual dinner on the lake! Tin roofs, bathrooms outside(clean enough!), casual seating inside and out with a nice view of the lake. Service probably lacked just a notch, but no big deal. I had the shrimp po boy, which was probably a 4 out of 5 stars. Husband had the fried grouper which was a solid 5 stars. For appetizers, we had fried grouper bites and fried pickles. Lots of fried stuff, but also burgers, etc. for kids. Hushpuppies were yummy! Nice live music and take a stroll around the lake when you’re done. Good find!

We hired Skogies to cater our 55-person houseboat party this weekend. I cant tell you how many compliments I’ve received from my guests about the great food we had. The most popular item were the fried grouper fingers. Even my picky husband loved them. Thanks for the great food and service and I know you’ll have new customers coming up to visit by boat from Buford. See you soon!

Delicious food! Best coconut shrimp I’ve had since living in Hawaii. Husband had burger and sweet potato tots which were just as good. Sweet staff, perfect atmosphere. Headed on a stroll around the lake. We will be back soon!

This place was highly recommended. The food was okay, but the service was way too slow. If you are in a hurry, I don’t recommend this restaurant. If you don’t mind waiting and relaxing, then this is a decent place to be. They have music outside which is usually a local person or band. Note: If you are a nonsmoker and sit outside, expect there to be smokers all around you.

Had my first Skogies visit this weekend. I could not have been more pleased! First off, any place you can get to by boat is A-OK in my book. The wait staff was super friendly, and we were able to get a table right away. Our server was very attentive and was even more than happy to bring a bowl of water for our furry friend(yes, they are pet friendly in the outdoor area). The food was excellent. Portions were very generous. There was some pink sauce on the table that I found to be darn near addictive. In reading other reviews, I found that it is BYOB, which makes me love them even more. Side note: restroom facilities are marina-owned, and could be more private/clean, but that is just an fyi — not a negative toward Skogies.

Good Southern cookin’. We came by boat and found adequate dockage. The fried green tomatoes were good eats!!! The sampler platter was a home run, as I was torn between fried shrimp and fried oysters. To my delight, the blackened grouper and mac n cheese stole the show! Well worth the ride and price!!! We are looking forward to returning when we are back on the lake!

Oh my GAWD! We were out boating all day and had to come in for some snack. Good thing too, because this was a real treat! I got to try hush puppies and fried green tomatoes for the first time. They are famous for the cajun style Grouper. mmmm it was nice. The service was awesome. Our waitress shared classic southern charm, was really sweet, and recommended some delicious treats! Thanks ya’all! I would come back any day!
